You and me both, I thought there'd be a whole bunch out by now, I've been checking toshokan every half an hour today and yesterday. I guess SOUL EATER will be fansubbed after the uncensored version is aired...

Did you bother with Vampire Knight?

Yeah everyone's waiting to see what the uncensored version is; whether it's just the very minimal fan service revealed a bit more or whether it'll add new scenes and dialog.

I thought about looking at the vampire knight sub but I'm not sure about the subber. Besides, it's suppossedly by another 5 groups so I'll just wait for it.

I heard it was full on tits n' ass. AND BLOOD. Bloody tits maybe? Cheers for the info though. I'll probably sit it out unless people start raving about it.

On the subject of Haruhi, in episode 00,

what's the deal with the cat suddenly talking?

Haruhi wishes they had a talking cat, and so that cat can talk. It's not explained in the anime, but it is in the light novel. I love Nagato's brush off - 'that was ventriloquism.'

Which? Soul Eater or Vampire Knight. There's the possibility of blood in Soul Eater's first ep and certainly some chestage. Not a clue about Vampire Knight though. I seem to recall someone saying it was like Ouran but with more melodrama.

Edit: On a Haruhi note; Volume 10 fucking where?!

So what's Vampire Knight like then?

Oh yeah the OP and ED of Soul Eater is pretty good. I haven't even seen the subbed version yet but I liked the RAW of episode 1, even with the bad VA from the male lead.

I don't see why everyone hates the new Code Geass OP. Must be different musical tastes I guess, or maybe i'm just a Geass fanboy.

My favourite OP of the new season is the Druaga one. I love it.

Odd, not many people have complained about Soul's voice but plenty have complained about Maka's. Still, to be expected since they're both complete newbies.

Geass op, I dunno, it just seems to smack of being camp as fuck. Especially the scene with Lelouch going "FUCK YES YOU ARE THE BEST HORSE EVER!"

Out of this season's OPs, Druaga's is definitely in the lead.

I quite like the Soul Eater OP visually; it looks like Tim Burton put through a Jet Set Radio filter. Reminds me of The World Ends With You and early Bleach too. Has anyone read the manga?

I can't really say I was bothered about the Geass OP/ED songs, I didn't really like them last season either, in fact I don't think I like any of the music Sunrise choose, except, of course, for Keroro Gunsou.

I have downloaded Special A episode 1, I'm wary, because it's Gonzo produced, but I'll report back in the morning.

EDIT: actually, I lie, Geass OP1 was pretty good, in a really cheesy way.

DOUBLEEDITFUNTIME: The Geass R2 OP isn't that bad, it's pretty similar to the old ones, really... well, except for the lovely horse. There is a distressing lack of the Gawain though. :P

I and I think Zapp$$ter have read the manga. I quite enjoy it. The beginnings a bit shit but that doesn't last long. Blackstar might pprove to be really annoying though. There should be some quite good stuff coming up later though and the humour remains pretty consistent. That said, there's only 23 chapters translated so it might suddenly turn dire at a later point or something

I watched Special A. I can see why people were comparing this to Ouran but it's not quite the same standard of humour. Fairly interesting but if the plot remains the same week after week I'll be a bit annoyed. Surprisingly good animation though considering it's lolgonzo collaberation. Noodley designs remind me of Clamp.

Possibley the only thing I liked from Geass's new op was the shot of what looks to be Orange man framed in an orange background. I'm so easily amused by that. "Oh shit he's called Orange make it orange!!"

Edit: Forgot to mention, Special A's main lead voiced by Lelouch. This guy is like the flavour of the fucking year. :P 3 shows so far this season with him in.

Edit: Having a look at his ANN profile, he's actually in 5 series this season.

Dattebayo Fansubs, LLC is proud to announce that effective immediately, all future releases will be encoded using the superior MKV video container. After we have switched to H264 video compression, we have received countless suggestions from our fans to look into "MKV", a high quality free audio/video container which allowed HIGH DEFINITION video to be stored at a FRACTION of file size as compared to equally encoded and processed AVI file. Our video encoding staff immediately downloaded and evaluated the MKV compression tools and found them to be highly superior to our currently used beta of Windows Movie Maker 2.1, and as a result, we will be releasing all our products directly in MKV form. MKV will allow us to release ultra-high definition versions of both Bleach and Naruto (1920x1080p) with 7.1 channel surround sound while keeping the same reasonable file size of 170MiB. To give you a sample of what awaits you after the switch to MKV, we're releasing [DB] Bleach 166 HDTV. Starting next week, both Bleach and Naruto will be using this new amazing format.

We will no longer release episodes in inferior "AVI" format, and this weeks Bleach will be the last "AVI" encoded release. We will NOT release in both AVI and MKV, or any other format besides MKV.

We will not accept complaints from our users who are unable to play these releases at full resolution.

I doubt either show is broadcast at that res, but if its the same file size then theres not much to worry about. They only started releasing Naruto in 856x480 last week due to the switch to airing in hd, now they've increased it to "full hd" and lets be honest the vast majority of users won't get any benefit*. As I'm waiting on both shows to finish arcs before watching any more (I'll be waiting a while with naruto as it only started a new arc last week), someone else will have to tell me if Dattebayo are trolling or not s only last week they said they were not accepting requests to change format again :) How close is bleach to finishing an arc btw?

*Not me though, my set is 1080p :P

edit: Bleach isn't broadcasting in hd yet

I don't have a problem with the new Geass OP, but I still prefer all the ones I've heard from the first season, particularly COLORS, but then I'm a bit of a FLOW fanboy so that's no surprise. The ED is already a massive improvement over the first season because I can't stand Ali Project at the best of times.

Best OP for me so far is the Soul Eater one, even if it is a T.M. Revolution song.

I just watched Special A - Posh school/clever (lanky) kids; I can see why it's being compared to Ouran. I agree about it not being funny, but I think it could be very funny. I'm not holding my breath though...

I always found Fukuyama Jun quite funny in Geass since he has a regular voice and an 'adult voice,' and his 'adult voice' sounds like a kid trying to sound grown up, which fit really well for the character of Lulu. I think he proved himself for me in Spice + Wolf, where he made his 'adult voice' not sound so silly. I thought he was good in Special A though, wasn't too melodramatic for the character.

The first SOUL EATER subs are out, by AEN... there's an option to stream on their site which didn't work... does anyone know if anyone (I'm looking at you, Mr. Jeff, Zappster) reputable will sub it? Fasubwiki lists Anime-Empire & Saizen, Generation neXt/Onibaku and AnimeYoshi to sub it, but I don't know who the first groups are and don't really think much of AnimeYoshi.

EDITFORPIRO: I have it downloaded, I'll watch it in a bit.

Anyone seen this week Bleach? Looks like Pierrot are giving all of Naruto's funding to Bleach :P!

Fucking hell! If that's what they've been saving up for then I completely forgive them, that was the best episode of Bleach since the fight with Byakuya.

Indeed, but now we will have to endure weeks of filler. But at least this filler will be somewhat interesting, since it deals with something somewhat relevant that Kubo Tite has not expanded upon, rather than the previous fillers.... I still remember that episode about a dead chef having to bake a cake... (not that I watched it).

But when there's a good fight in Bleach, they do it well. Hopefully they'll give

Kenpachi vs Noitora

the same treatment.

I'm about to watch AEN subbed Soul Eater, i've heard.... bad things about AEN though.

Weird that they'd decide to filler up now, since the Hueco Mundo arc seems to come to a nice conclusion before continuing in Karakura town. What's it going to be about? and... how are they going to stop right in the middle of this arc?

Good luck with AEN.

Anime-Empire and Saizen are very good IMO, they've been around for a while and the quality associated with them is good. The problem is they are known as notoriously slow groups, although to give them credit they did do relatively quick releases of the Terra E series from last year, and they usually drop a show when it's licensed. Personally I think Soul Eater looks like a dead cert for licensing so that may be a problem if they haven't finished before then. I hope they manage their Terra E speed but if they don't I'll probably opt for AnimeYoshi (who I agree aren't particularly brilliant) and replace those with the Anime-Empire&Saizen version later.

Gah! Thursday nights? I thought it was tuesday nights! arse, I was hoping for some other groups to release today.

Cheers for the info Zapp, I'll probably do what you do.

Thinking about it, is Soul Eater going to be a limited series (like 26 episodes or something) or is it another One Piece/Naruto/Bleach/D.Gray man?

I am full of questions today. ^_^

Well it's down for 50-ish episodes at the moment. I have no idea how concrete that is. Given that it's BONES though, I don't think they'll carry on indefinitely.

Yeah, that's what I thought. cheers!

And Bibly, check out the lovely animation in the OP.

Add to that they don't have enough material for the series and that it's being tipped for a FMA alteration. That said, I'm still optimistic it'll turn out good. There's a very nice fight later on that I'm itching to see animated.

imp: It is technically aired on monday/tuesdays but everyone's waiting for the unaired version to see if they need to do extra translation for the unedited version or not.

Edit: Did I mention in here that there's going to be a Eureka SeveN movie?

heheh even so, he obviously surprised Grimmjaw

btw what was up with his released form?? looked pretty fruity :o

Yeah, when it was first revealed we were a bit taken aback. We were expecting something as "manly" as Grimmjow was, not a kittycat. It still looks good though.
