Zomg, first subs are out and they belong to......Gonzo. Yep, it's the first of their worldwide streaming translations pay-what-you-want download shows, The Tower of Druaga. It's on 3 sites as far as I can tell, BOST, Cruncyroll and of course, Youtube.

First impressions I've read are....not very favourable apparently. Time to see myself.

Edit: Two things in the first 5 minutes: Lol famous names ahoy and jesus, what the fuck is with that op. Screams high-quality fantasy series. Sounds more Like the op for Green Green. ^_^

Edit 2: Oh shit, this is actually funny. :D

I can't get into it either, it's more action-packed than I expected, but the action isn't interesting to watch at all, it's just 'Knightmare Frame fires grapple, hits other frame, instantly explodes'.

yes, I think you are right about the battles. Aside from the first battle that Lelouch directs, I find it hard to be excite by other ones (although the mountain one was an exception ). There's more to it then that though.

Episode 22 was the one where people sat up and paid attention. The show's writing has much to be desired but it's a vaguely entertainly teen-angst-mecha series.

I'm quite tempted to pay 1 cent for that first Druaga episode now...

Oh man. I've started watching the Nodame Cantabile dorama. It's my first. Man the acting really sucks in places. It's still pretty good though, I think the music is done pretty well anyway. And the titles and credits are ace! Any body else watched it?

Yeah. The tricky part is to make sure that the subs sync with the raw you have otherwise the timing can be way off. And going by the comments on tosho they should sync with most of the raws.

Once you have the raw and the subtitle (.srt/.ssa/.ass) then you need to make sure that both are named the same and in the same directory. So you should have say, Druaga_ep1.avi and Druaga_ep1.srt in the same folder/directory. Then, assuming you have the right software on your computer, the subs should load automatically with your player of choice. Alternatively you can load them manually in most players. If you've got CCCP installed then you'll have everything. If not you need to get DirectVobSub. I think that's the right program.

edit: there's no doubt a better guide available for this somewhere that explains it way better, but the above is the gist of it.

edit2: blassreiter is now out by Gonzo too

.

Nice to see it's sticking firmly to the Gonzo rule; a series of apparent awesomeness (Druaga) and a series of utter utter fail(Blassreiter). I don't know where to begin. Perhaps maybe with lol-cg? Looks like it's from the early 90's. The script's not much better either... :(

Compared to the Tower of Druaga which I think would beenfit from a high quality version from a download, this you can certainly watch via streaming and lose nothing because it's that awful. I mean, there's a suspicous looking evil man (he's evil because he has a scar on his face!) that gets shown for 5 seconds who had an evil sounding piece of music going in the background. Cliche ahoy?

Watch the first ep on youtube though just so that the next program you watch will seem that much better.

Well having seen it, it seems to me to be this season's Rosario + Vampire. Although it doesn't seem quite as harem-y yet. Fanservice level is more or less the same and the female lead seems to be even more proactive than Moka and by that I mean she doesn't just want to go for a kiss on the neck. There were hints at something besides the fanservice which could be good, if explored further. No annoying characters so far and most of the other elements are pretty forgettable at the moment. I'll give it another episode or two I think. Either that or it'll be relegated to guilty pleasure status.

Not watched it yet but I have read the small ammount of manga that's been translated and skimmed through the raws of the rest. Fan-service with fox-girl and wolf-girl seems to be pretty much it although I think they're trying to fix a plot of some kind of demon exterminators being after them or something later on.

Still as long as it doesn't try to take itself too seriously, it might be worth a chuckle. Considering the promotional art work is like this, I doubt that'll happen though. :P

Edit: Ridiculous fan-service (there was a quote I read somewhere which was fairly accurate: "it's basically the foreplay you'd get from most normal hentai series") and ever so slightly creepy shota vibe and yet somehow I like this more than Blassreiter. I have no taste. :(

>Fukuda Tadashi, the president of Kadokawa Digix (the publisher of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky?Star, etc.) said, “It is quite sad to see that anime videos are deleted due to copyright infringement. We can use YouTube and other video sharing services to advertise our titles outside Japan.”

>He continued: “Anime fans who want to see anime in higher resolution will buy DVDs. People watch anime on YouTube because they have missed the TV broadcasting or want to check it just on trial. Currently we give up the chance of selling not only the DVDs but the illustrations or other character products. Those fans take their time to upload and advertise our anime titles. If we keep on claiming copyright infringements and neglecting their activities, we eventually lose anime fans.”

I watched that Tower of Druaga and for some reason I went through almost the entire show expecting

a reveal at the end that they were kids playing a game like WoW

.

The reason being the opening sequence. And you weren't the only one!

Well it is a sequal to an arcade/home console game franchise.

In other news the following changes have been made to my viewing:

- Code Geass is now on hold for a undecided amount of time until I get the desire to continue. Rather then watching it in bulk, I might watch the odd ep here and there.

- Naruto Shippuden is now on hold now a new arc has started airing and I've watched the end of the previous one

- I marathoned the first season of Lupin III (the original 71 series that wasn't licensed) over a couple of days as reading the manga quickened my interest in watching part of the anime, and i'm aquiring pretty much all of the movies/ovs/tv specials and still have the first 79eps of the second series (that was licensed until Geneon imploded) to watch. Also it meant I could move one of my on hold titles to completed status. It's episodic and fun so it's an easy watch

- That left my only "watching" series to be my repeat of Naruto's non-filler eps, which I'm doing on an arc by arc basis while watching other things. Because of that, I've started Urusei Yatsura due to it's crazy length, especially as my download speed on it has increased from sub 10kb/s to over 50kb/s and it's coming down faster then I expected (Still30gb left to get though!).

- As Code Geass has shown, watching entire shows from start to finish without watching other things doesn't always work. Now the new season is starting I'll start watching shows as they are running depending on reactions after the first 5eps or so. I will however be starting Macross Frontier after a few weeks anyway. This will of course make my "watching" list more like Mr jeff's , but it means for an hour or two a week, I'll have an extra 5 or so shows finished in 6 months time on top of the stuff I'm watching seperately

- As I managed to accidently delete it last year after only watching the first ep (00?) I'm redownloading Haruhi, which I'll watch whenever it finishes downloading.

Code Geass R2 Ep 1 RAW is out by the way, subs will be out in a few hours. I thought it was pretty fucking awesome...

spoilers below!

Interesting how it is so very reminiscient of last seasons's first episode. Also, Kallen in bunny girl outfit kicking ass = fucking awesome. Looks like the Emperor has a Geass too judging from the OP. I want to see what the hell happened at the end of S1 though, and how Kallen got over Lelouche being Zero. The Chinese dudes looks cool. Viletta being back is excellent, and Rollo isn't half bad. Burning hatred for Suzaku still remains.

Who got shot? Or does the fucking pile of shite not even show that?
