Just finished Gankutsuou.

What a brilliant series. I love stories that depend on revenge and the interplay between characters and this had it all. Went a bit off key towards the end with the giant robots and I think it would have worked better if they would have resorted to actually duels with swords and nothing else. Even the ending was top notch as they could easily have finished with the Counts death but they went the extra mile and gave us the what happened next series of events. Wonderful.

Bah I was thinking of buying Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0 but unsurprisngly it looks like it will have no e-subs :(

Hmm thinking about it the last Japanese dvd I bought was Evangelion 01 Test-Type, which was the first episode of Renewal of Evangelion in 5.1 and full length videos for Zankoku na tenshi/fly me to the moon. FIVE YEARS AGO :) (about 2 weeks out)

I'm going to be rewatching Evangelion soon. Is it worth renting Renewal/Platinum or should I stick with my ancient R1 boxset (the one that was £150 "back in the day") and the Directors cuts? I'm still undecided over watching it before or after watching Rebuild 1.0

Gundam 00 - 23 is out there, anyone seen it? Now I has. Big spoiler.

Bit of a lame way to kill LockOn

I don't think Lockon or Ali are really dead. The rule in Gundam is 'Unless you actually see them die, they're not dead'. Fantastic episode though. Darryl goes out in a massive cloud of pure GAR, Ali keeps stirring shit up and apparently pays for it, Patrick gets it right in the face, and Lockon does a fucking wonderful Spike Spiegel/SEE YOU, SPACE COWBOY right before the end.

Glad you liked it. Just found my copy the other day. I wanna watch it again but as I've only seen it fully once I'd like to watch it again with someone. I'm hoping Asura will at some point after the long list of other series we promised to watch together when he finally gets back to the uk (GTO, the bourne films *i havent seen*, Mysterious Cities of Gold to name a few)

Try Haibane Renmei someday. Short (less than 20 eps) series and interesting plot.

Fecking cliffhanger on this weeks Naruto :P Ah well, double ep this week :) Oh and it finally catches up to the teaser from the first post timeskip episode.

Sasuke's back!

As far as the original series goes, I'm now up to the first appearance of Itachi, so I've covered two arcs in under a week. Now to start Code Geass. I need suggestions (with group names where applicable!) for something to download to watch after

In fact, there I was adding stuff to my list and I stumbled across Kiddy Grade. As I've watched this ridiculously named show (wtf is that name about exactly?) I was surprised to see that it got 3 movies in japan last year that were retellings of the story, as well as a sequel series thats been announced but yet to be given a air date. Just what is it with the japanese doing movie retellings and dragging up old IP to do new series for. Evangelion, trigun, Slayers and now this have all been confirmed to reappear or have already (I'm sure I've missed something too).

Whats next, the Revenge arc of Kenshin airing on tv? :)

Oh man, you mentioned Kiddy Grade. I seem to remember meh raging about it in the distant past. Not as bad his Popotan hate though.

As for the retellings, I think it's good that they update the series from how they looked originally. Of course the obvious problem is keeping the quality of the original while updating it.

I finally filled out my list at MyAnimeList. After going through all the anime from A-Z, I can conclude that I've watched at least 40 tv series from beginning to end (thats just tv shows and doesn't include ones on hold or dropped). Thats actually slightly scary considering most of the last 3 years has been erratic in terms of amount watched, although thats over 6 or 7 years. I can only conclude the first 3 years I watched tons of stuff, which seems about right. I've watched 199 anime in all forms, completed or not.

TV: 40, OVA: 21, Movies: 27, Spcl.: 6, Eps: 1,469, Days: 24.86

I'm still working on it to fill in the details pending my memory, but here it is if anyone is interested

Edit: I'm not sure who brought it to my attention a few pages back, but thanks. That site is amazing frankly. To think I was going to do a spreadsheet :)

Aye it's a great site. The only downside is it shows how much I've watched and not finished in the past 5 years. 331 entries and I've only completed 180 of them. 87 of them I've either stopped watching or not even seen. It's really a rather bad habit. :)

Also, should you be interested, someone on that site has created an application that works with certain media players to update your list without having to do it yourself.

Nice, but until theres a version for VLC on the mac, I'll have to do it manually :P

No longer do I have to leave post it notes to remind me how far I've gotten on a show \o/ I think I've had to abandon about 5 long running shows due to having no clue how far I got. I've had to guesstimate a few of the shows that are on there. It's quite interesting that the long running shows I've marked as on hold (because I intend to carry on with them/rewatch at some point as oppossed to abandoning them) are all Rumiko Takahashi shows :)

Caught up with the last 3 episodes of G00 thanks to menclave's heroic effort and I'm glad I waited for quality.

Ali-Al is a cunt, Saji is running and skipping down the road to becomming Shinn from GSD, Ribbons and whatever his name is are totally gay for each other, so much so that I'm surprised they weren't doing each other over Aeolia's cryo-corpse, and Exia turns out to be awesome after all. Shame I know the main point of 23 though. Totally looking forward to Graham's Gundam/Flag combo.

Oh and thanks to Jack's picture a page or so back, I spent what should have been a serious, emotional scene laughing my head off. :)

Gundam 00 - 23

I fear that Lockon may actually be dead. I know the rule, but I reckon it'll be that he's either dead or "they can't find the body and therefore are assuming that he's dead". It was an awesome episode with so much happening. So, GN Arms is dead and buried already! Lockon is dead or missing; Ali's Throne is proper FUBAR and loads of the false solar furnaces are also destroyed. I'll be really annoyed if Lockon is done for the series, it'll be worse than losing Mwu because at least he 'died' right at the end!

Ladies and gentleman. I have now commenced downloading of a 40gb torrent dedicated to one show - Urusei Yatsura. To put it bluntly I must see this show, and theres no way in hell I am paying for 50 volumes of it on dvd. I'm going to have to download it in batches of 25eps for my own sanity.

the amazing thing is that this torrent is at least 2years old (probably more like 3) but it's STILL well seeded

I really need to stop aquiring new stuff to watch. I've gone from having nothing to watch to having too much, so I need to slow down with the downloading. I'll never run out of stuff to watch though! UY's tv series alone will take 65 hours to watch
