Where did you get that from? I didn't think there was any info on it yet other than it was coming.

Ah, I was reading it wrong. Original story it seems so not quite the retro revamp I was thinking of. *shrug*

I was skimming most of the information for it anyway since I've not seen the original series. ^_^

:) I haven't either. But it's one of those that people talked fondly about when I first got into fansubbed anime so I've always been on the lookout. Luckily for me there was a nice, big, juicy torrent of it a few months back so I've pretty much got it all now. As ever it's just about finding the time to watch it :(.

Is anyone other than me watching the new KGNE OVA at the moment? I desperately need Shinsen to sub ep 2 (was aired on feb 23rd apparently) so if anyone knows any other grous who are subbing it I'd be very appreciative.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encycloped...ime.php?id=8754

I've only ever seen the first one too, we'd probably have to wait a while before a group subs the next one as it's not exactly a 'hot' series.

I think its a good thing. If it can happen for this it can happen for Berserk.

Berserk is utterly, insanely pointless to re-do unless they take the OVA route Hellsing has.

That way, they can really go to town.

I was thinking more of continuing the story where it left off. Theres plenty in the manga and they could start it all off with meeting the elf. Bit of a rewrite to match the first anime but its possible.

I'd much prefer the OVA route. They can be a hell of a lot bloodier, for example.

Besides, Berserk suffers from 'FUCK! WHERE AM I TAKING THE STORY?!' syndrome for a while after the anime.

They could easily break up most of what has been done in the manga into specific sections. The current anime covers all of the pre-demon/royalty stuff. The next could be Guts wandering etc etc If they were careful they could easily spin it off with its own ending. A bit like they did with FMA which never did that any harm.

Edit. Come to think of it the OVA's could work just as well. Although it wasn't much cop, the Dreamcast game was only 2 hours long but had a bloody brilliant spin off tale about Guts and Casca. That might have worked.

I verily enjoyed Appleseed Ex Machina, well worth waiting for :)

I need to start seriously making my way through the Anime I've accumulated. I realised if I watched an episode of something every day I've got several years' worth of stuff here ^_^

Ugh, fuck off. Anime-only endings are fucking disgraceful. FMA's was no different, and made fuck-all sense.

But why? The manga series is nowhere near its ending and they had to do something. There was nothing wrong with the FMA series as a whole. Was rather well written and quite entertaining, much better than some of the other garbage out there.

HMV are doing a deal at the moment where if you buy any anime dvd, you get a free disc containing the first two episodes of bleach and naruto. Got steamboy for £6 and got it free so I can check out the dub and subs of bleach and see if the official dvds are worth buying. a few of their older and more common anime films are quite cheap now too, though most of it still falls into the stupid £15 per disc price bracket. But they seem to be giving people more episodes for this and including the original japanese audio tracks. now if only someone would pick up and release the ultimate uncut editions of dragonball z.

Manga ent deserve a lot of credit for the past couple of years for doing a complete 180 and becoming a decent company. The ep counts for bleach and naruto are 2 or three times more per volume then their competitors and the value for money is through the roof.

Adv have done next to nothing in several years. Ok so they've started doing boxset but the pricing needs work and I can't see much excitement in their recent content.

Mvm have got a lot more potential but they've come a long way. If they can get the right licenses and treat them right they could be so much bigger

I'm upto the bit where Villefort

(Prosecutors wife) has been discovered with the poison ring and her hubby has sentenced her to a life in a room with bars at the institute. When it first started I really didnt like the count but he grows on you. Now I can't wait to see him on screen to see what next he has up his sleeve. I love revenge stories.

Ooooh :)

I remember when I was watching a bit before that and one of my housemates popped in my room asking me for a cup of tea and looked at the screen saying (not really a spoiler)

'Um...is that woman (Villeforts wife) masterbating?'

I totally didn't realise...honest!

It got to around where u are now that I spent whole days watching it, I couldn't wait for the next episode. You know what's imminant, going to happen (or is it? thats the thing you wonder) and you dread it for the sake of who it will affect, yet you want the Count to get what he wants too. Makes your heart beat fast and very very gripping.

Sooooooo gooooooood *Makes a mad dash about room trying to find her copy*

When you have finished, you should search for Albert is a 'mo video on Youtube. Contains Spoilers and a bit NSFW, but its bloody funny :(

was "I hope she isnt wearing that ring still"

They shouldn't have done anything to begin with. It's fucking pointless from a story-telling perspective to try making a serious of Berserk even now.

FMA is probably about do-able now, as it seems to be starting to wrap things up.

It's so superior to the anime it's unreal.

Ditto!

Just watched another 2 episodes tonight. It's gripping stuff.

The count was close to being arrested outside the opera house but he laid the smackdown on the prosecutor. The guys amazing. I am getting a bit worried about the demony type stuff and that purple marking on his head. Hope it doesn't go all supernatural as the main draw so far has been the excellent characterisation

HMV's anime section is certainly getting bigger, and slightly better priced. Lots of special offers on at the moment too! Now if somewhere would just reduce the Samurai Champloo boxset for me, I'd be sorted!

It's about the same size in mine that it's always been. It only looks bigger because there are boxsets shoved in amongst the single volumes and there is more variety instead of several copies of each title. I was surprised to see a few titles for £5 though!

Try this. I bought one of these sets and they are pretty good quality:

Oh I feel like a chump now. I bought Champloo before there was a box set out. So it was £14 a pop on amazon marketplace. To really rub it in, the DVDs don't even work on my MacBook Pro, so I had to download the KAA DVD rips anyway. At least they have a cool subtitle font.

It really annoys me the way studios treat DVD releases. Especially when they bung 3/4 episodes on a single DVD and sell it top whack. Take the above link I posted. It comes with all 26 episodes spread across just 3 DVD's with full subs and extras, menus etc. It plays just like any official release so if the dodgy Singapore pirates can do this why cant the studio's.

Surely you aren't seriously asking this?

Pirates dont pay licensing

Pirates dont have to pay western prices for mastering

Pirates dont have to pay for dubbing (or costs to buy the existing dub if licensing from another western studio)

Pirates dont have to pay BBFC

Pirates probably sell several times what uk publishers sell for an average title

Pirates probably dont pay vat

Sets like the one you link to have all the hard work done by a western studio. The pirates just take the raw data ripped from their discs and repackage it which is the sort of thing that can be done at home on your pc. pirates just happen to have DVD-9 manufacturing plants to put the final result through. If a western company put out a full series on 3 discs they'd go bust in about a week unless it was back catalogue, and even then it would be really stupid to do so.

Whilst I agree with Dandy_Sephy, I've noticed that Japanese companies takes the piss by releasing a mere two episodes per DVD and charging the equivalent of £20.

In fact, does anyone know why DVDs are still so damn expensive in Japan? I thought that it might be due to the VHS market being deeply entrenched, but that's pure speculation.

It's a proper 'lol wut' moment. It's just after

the soldiers run in and blast it with flamethrowers. The Labor it's wearing starts to fall to pieces, and there's a great big pair of tits beneath.
