Researched the last two, didn't appeal to me

Fair enough. Seirei's more a really good story telling series with some very occasional amazing action scenes. Oh! Edo I avoided for ages because it sounded and looked daft but was surprisingly enjoyable and funny. Different strokes for different folks I guess. If you change your mind, stream the first eps on veoh or something. :P

That's true, sometimes things look bad but are actually amazing... I'll stream the first episode when I have time.

Watch up to the end of the flashback sequence (about 10 eps), and then just read the manga

Will do.

And i'm going to watch Gundam 00, if only so I can understand what the hell Jack is talking about.

If you have the self-control to watch ONLY up until episode 20 and then switch to manga it's good, otherwise don't bother.

Just read the manga, it's great. Though the anime is pretty much taken scene for scene from the manga for the first 10-15 eps.

I started with the first episode of Claymore, then read the manga. Wouldn't have wanted to do it the other way around.

I really hate Nena now. She's such a shit. And Graham was so fucking GARRRRR. Even when he's coughing up blood, he's effortlessly cool.

She's like that crazy ex-girlfriend. The one who you think is all about being dead hot and those tits, but who turns out to be simply a psycho.

Can't wait for next week!

Gankutsuou is the story of The Count of Monte Cristo set in the future with space travel and aliens, but still keeps to the story very well. Its mainly kept to the viewpoint of Albert, the son of the main man the Count wants revenge upon, and the Count himself. The style is very striking (the first episode gives me a headache) using a new photoshop tool which I have seen other anime use recently. You do get used to it though, it is eye popping at times. The plot and twists really leave cliff hangers from the middle onwards.

Drama, with scifi and I guess romance too.

Trailer

I finished watching this a week or two ago and I think it's good up until the mechs come out.....

The ending pissed me off so much....but that's because I actually like the original story, the way they changed it, it was just like a really really bad joke, I mean the last episode was totally pointless as well!

Isn't Spice and Wolf fantastic? I really enjoy the fact the plot centres on trade rather than the more cliched aspects of medieval fantasy worlds. I watched episodes 4 and 5 today and now I can't get the ED out of my head. It's very cute.

I also caught up on True Tears since I found out that Ai-Doremi had dropped it upon licensing. I watched the w.0.0.f. subs (since they were the only ones who had subbed episode 6) which seemed alright, despite the hideous fonts used. Are any of the other groups still subbing it worth watching? It's turning out to be a pretty interesting show.

The half-brother story line was so obviously coming a mile off though! Fi' dollaz says that it turns out not to be true though.

Noe is the best anyway!

On a related note, one of my biggest fears for the spring season is that Bandai will license Haruhi season 2 before it finishes airing and A.F.K. will drop it. I know Bandai were pretty cool with fansubs re: Haruhi season 1 - i.e. they said they probably wouldn't have considered licensing it without the buzz generated from the fansubs and there was a poll on their website when it opened asking about pricing and one of the options was something like 'Anime should be available fansubbed for free!' I know loads of groups will sub it anyway, but A.F.K did such a great job of the first season I'd like to stick with them. And I think they're definitely a cut above your average subbing group; well, mainly I like the fact the translator has a large vocabulary or at least isn't scared of the thesaurus. One of the best groups that I've seen though, IMO and all that. Although it would nice to watch it in HD if it's broadcast in HD as well...

Following a recommendation from someone on here (cant remember who, soz) im 45 episodes into Monster, and im hooked, its amazing

Can anyone recommend any anime similar to love hina? comedy type stuff?

Cheers

Azumanga Daioh and School Rumble, as mentioned previously. Both made me genuinely lol to the fucking heavens.

Hmm, I don't know exactly what Love Hina is like, but you can't go wrong with Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!, Azumanga Daioh or School Rumble. They're all light-hearted comedies.

Love Hina was good, I s'pose. Then Love Hina Again turned up, and pissed it all up a wall.

Spice and Wolf is amaze. It's always nice when a series you've had your eye on doesn't disappoint you in it's delivery. First of the year's "cat-girl" series too it seems. I think there's another 2 or 3 series to come that also have a female lead with cat ears and tail.

As for True Tears subs, I've been using Moetaku's subs. They're a bit slower than the others (still no ep 6 :D ) but the quality of the video and the subs is really nice.

As for recommendations for something like Monster; Death Note maybe? It's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

On an unrelated note, I got pointed out to a Mushishi style series the other day by the name of Kino's Journey and was amazingly impressed by it. Such a placcid and nicely paced series that was just a joy to watch. Up in my top 10 now for sure. :o

Spice and Wolf 06 was amazing.

Bleach 160 sees a return to good animation, generally a top class (Bleach scaled) episode.

The latest episode of Minami-ke Okawari was mediocre, it lacked the trap twins AND Hosaka.

Anyone else here follow Kaiji? If not, I seriously recommend it. Triad have subbed all the released ones.

I dunno

The 30,000 something hollows were kinda useless :o

Well, it's a refreshing break from all the MY REIATSU IS HIGHER THEREFORE I WIN fights... good to see he died because of his arrogance.... and massive stupidity. Also, it's nice seeing someone getting stabbed in the head in Bleach.
