I love how animé subbing is now basically a contest to see who can put the most flashy and pointless effects on song subtitles which no-one will ever sing along to sat in front of their PC. Apart from Meh, I bet he goes all Numa Numa whenever any insert songs show up.

I've tried on occaision... NGE is the only one I could even vaguely croak along to. I can play a few OPs and themes on the piano though ;P.

Also, Mr. Jeff, why aren't you backin' me over the FMP! recommendation? It's 2-2 atm!

Yeah I have a couple of Ops down  Clannad one especially. *cough*

Bibly, I'd back you up but I like both of them. :D Therefore, I'll stick with my original recommendation of Minami-ke. ;)

Edit: Pease don't brick my windows! Oh god, I've angered the incarnation of Sousuke!

Personally, there have been times when I just couldn't resist singing along to Motekke! Serafuku!

Has anyone heard the Kyon version of Hare Hare Yukai? It's quite funny - done all coffee shop acoustic style. I might try and figure out the chords. That'll be a surefire hit with the ladies.

Yet another 2 sonds I know the lyrics to. Must be something about cheesy j-pop that makes me sing to it.

That said, if you want torture, listen to Nia from Gurren Lagann sing the ed song of a series called Dragonauts. *shudder* God, it's awful. Also features the lyric; "I just want to shower you with my adoration; Rain of Love". ;)

Edit: Jack, you're totally singing the Gundam theme when it's on. Don't try and hide it!

Last I heard anime fansubbing was a competition to see who can be first/most accurate/deliver anime long before it's available to westerners commercially (if at all)

Op/end subbing rules, so don't start

That and matching the name of the sub group as closely to the name of the anime as possible. Always fun to see the trouble they'll go to.

You definitely should, I don't particularly like FMP, but Fumoffu is great!

Personally, I usually skip the OP and ED sequences, except for a few series like Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, Champloo,

Sensei (OP possibly NSFW), Honey & Clover, Paradise Kiss and
manga. Wait, that was more than I thought.

So.... What are people's favourite OP/EDs?

Aside from those series, here are some other favourites,

Higurashi's First season had an excellent OP, as did Baccano! and Nodame Cantabile. Oh and of course the

is genius. (sorry, couldn't find that in english)

Leaving Fumufu out of it (because I've not seen it yet), Champloo probably just beats FMP for me. But they are both good.

You have to see Fumoffu... Animenfo ranks it 14th out of all anime series.

Because I'm old and dead inside I don't care much for FMP and would choose Samurai Champloo over it any day.

Have you seen Fumoffu?!

No doubt they're struggling with, I think, a new OP? There's some vague mutterings of that on the site. They're already working on ep 15 so you're probably right. Got enough to keep me busy till then though. :)

That's pretty much it, plus some of the guys had exams. 14 should be about ready now though, I'd be surprised if it wasn't out in the next few days.

I have to say I'm not usually a fan of the flashy effects, although I thought the Gundam 00 OP1 was good. The new ED karaoke is nice and simple which I like but the video is typical gundam ridiculousness.

And seeing how much of the screen can be filled up with subs when an insert song shows up. I always thought HaroHaro & ToriTori was the best group for Gundam SEED Destiny subs, but my god, they didn't half cover up most of the frame.

Ive never seen FMP but someone lent me this Fumoffo - whats the deal with it? Do i need to have seen any of FMP to "get" it? Is it simular to any other anime series?

I would watch FMP! before Fumoffu, it makes it much better.

The former is like a 'normal' anime, and it continues in the same vein in The Second Raid. Fumoffu is basically a full-on comedy anime using the same characters (and a few extras... BONTA-KUN). Even if you don't like FMP! so much (no accounting for taste there) you can still love Fumoffu, one of the best comedic animes around, but it really does better with FMP! to set it up.

Similar animes? Nothing springs to mind as particularly akin, although things like Azumanga Diaoh and Lucky Star are both 'pure' comedy, they're not really that similar outside of the devotion to humour.

Ask anyone though, Fumoffu is one of the best, and watching FMP! is well worth it, even if it's only to see Fumoffu.

Those are all brilliant, thanks! A good few anime there are relevant to my interests :D

Hmm, I've just read a review of Fumoffo on some anime site; I never realised it was so different to FMP. No Tessa! :D
Actually, she's in a couple of episodes.

uh... It's still good though!

Tessa > Chidori

:)

I've got FUMOFFU but not got round to watching it yet. I loved FMP though.

On that basis, will I like FUMOFFU as much?

:D :D

You will love it all the more I assure you. I can't believe you loved FMP! but didn't watch Fumoffu, the latter is even loved by non-fans of the series, if you liked FMP! you'll enjoy it thoroughly.

Tessa > Chidori

:)

^This

Chidori = Abusive confidence issues schoolgirl who never seems to fully appreciate the seriousness of Sagara's situation

Tessa = Captain of a submarine which she designed herself!

EDIT:

On the subject of OPs and EDs, I liked the Fumoffu OP, the NGE OP, the FSN ED, the Kanon (2006) OP, the Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien OP, Nodame Cantabile's first OP (can't remember the others so well) was good, School Rumble had quite a few good OPs and EDs...

That's off the top of my head. Sorry for the lack of links people, but I should be writing essays, go give any of those a look-up on Youtube. The Fate Stay Night ending is particularly chilled/awesome.

Just steal all the good ones why don't you? :D The only one's I can add are Mushshi Op, Noein Op (mainly because I like the song and band :D ) and Spice and Wolf's op who's song just keeps growing on me everytime I hear it. Oh and despite what you think of the series, I always thought the Elfen Lied op was good.

Mr. imp, there's a new op for ep 3 of Zoku Sayonara just in case you're not aware. :) Only 3 parodies this time though (that I saw). Disappointed.

Edit: To subject myself to no doubt another barrage of Bibly's Brick-through-a-window Enterprises™, I'm going to stick my neck out and say Chidori > Tessa. Especially in the last translated novel.

I didn't mean to.. I started.. and it just got out of hand. Cheers for the Zoku link though. That's brilliant/way way creepy. What was the mask bit about? I can't remember for the life of me what the free falling hug was from either. I know I know it though! grah! Geass?

EDIT: finally got Spice and Wolf EP. 1 - Wasn't sure who to go with so I grabbed the Sudo version. I'll probably watch it when I get bored of my essay.
