Has anyone here watched "Saint Seiya" or "gatchaman"? If so, what's your opinion on them? Worth watching?

saint seiya is girly-centric amoured knights.. gatchaman features a lot of stuff you may have not seen in BOTP, has a LOT more episodes, and there's no 7-zark7 to add some pointless moralilty to the end of each episode..

fascinating fact : yoshitaka amano , character designer of gatchaman was hired by tatsunoko productions at 15 years old!!!!

Gatchaman's just Battle of the Planets. Never seen a subitled Japanese version but the intro is miles better than the US translation.

As Gigue has said, Battle of the Planets is a complete hackjob of gatchaman. See Robotech and Macross/the other two completely unrelated shows for another example

Just finished Gurren Lagann.

....wow....

I love the way it went from a 7ft machine to a fucking galaxy sized fight

But why did Simon abandon all his friends never to see them again for the rest of his life? (says while crying manly tears) (DAMN YOU GAINAX)

Well, it's fairly obvious that the anime planned to do its own thing from the start now. I was quite amazed how quickly the manga got to the point where that certain character is killed.

In the back of book 8 of the manga the author goes on about how she wrote an entirely different story for the anime and gives the impression that it was meant to run for quite a long time time rather than just 50 odd eps. She also shows just how surprised she was that her manga was turned into an anime as that was never the plan. I like the manga and anime as they both have their strong points.

What should I watch now...

Is Gundam Seed any good?

If you like endless flashbacks and lots of pointless insert songs. I've been watching Victory Gundam, and I can't shake the feeling that Tomino really hated women at this time of his life. Almost all of the female characters introduced after the start die horribly a few episodes later.

Gundam SEED is fairly alright. Lots of teenage angst though but some nice enough fights.

The fights are alright the first time, but if any two suits meet up more than once, they just use the same animation. I'm sure Fukuda must have been siphoning off the animation budget to fund his apparent crack habit.

Mushi-shi, Baccano or Toki wa Kakeru Shoujo.

I look forward to marathoning the latter half of Baccano! soon. I also look forward to watching mushi-shi when I finally get some time.

I'm really not watching much at the moment; I'm just really slowly re-watching Honey & Clover. I'm saving Clannad for a marathon once it's finished, but nothing much in the new season really interests me. I've watched a couple of episodes of Miname-ke, which is mildly amusing. Higurashi ni kai I've forgotten where I got up to before I lacked the internet for a few weeks, but I can't really be bothered with it anymore since it got so dull at the point I left off. Hayate is still stuck in the mediocrity slump it's been in for about 25 episodes. The only show I get excited about is Dennou Coil - which is frankly fantastic, the final arc is going to be AMAZE! Although I've just moaned a lot, I do look forward to starting Ghost Hound and finally watching some Mononoke soonish. I wish there was more time! Maybe I should watch Haruhi again after Honey & Clover to try and regain some vigour.

Baccano is amazing in the later stages. Definitely a most surprising series. Minami-ke is best comedy series out of the new season with some proper lol-moments in later epsidoes, Clannad's first "arc" just finished with episode 9 so it may be worth a brief glance, Higurashi kai is....good but also disappointing. Less of the gore and mystery which is a shame but necessary. Hayate is average but has some nice little side-jokes, Dennou's amazing but is ruined for me slightly since I hate Yasako. Ghost Hound and Mononoke should provide some thinking material for you with Ghost Hound looking absolutely fantastic in hd.

Nothing else to really mention but Moyashimon for being a wierd, funky series about microbes, Sketchbook for being a nice gentle slice of life series and Dragonaut for being the most ridiculous, giant breast infested series I've seen in god knows how long.

Oh and there's Genshiken 2 as well.

I just watched this weeks Shippuden and have one question. I only want a Yes/No answer, as I have my own ideas and would prefer the actual answer wasn't given to me.

Is the spy a previously known character? The throw away shot of the spy making his way seemed to suggest it is

I've had a bit of a Honey & Clover binge this morning (screw you, essay!) so maybe I'll get to some other series soon!..

Moyashimon sounds interesting!

I've watched the five episodes of Miname-ke subbed by Ayu, I think what I like most about it is the art style. Except when they do those close ups. It makes the characters look really creepy. I quite like the faux-azumanga recorder music as well. As for clannad, I'm waiting on the widescreen AFK subs, so I think I'll wait until they're all done, or at least for the first nine, then.

I hear Genshiken is good, I've never watched it though, should I? Which subs are good?

The current arc is good right up until we find out Naruto is

nerfed

again, and the ending was the worst part of the Naruto manga... it made a lot of people give up on it

What happens at the end? I've completely forgotten. ...and what does

nerfed

mean?
