Definitely.

I really hope Viral does get a look-in before the end, definitely an interesting touch to have him, a beastman, clutching a drill (or at least a green glowing thingy) too.

Its kinda already happened.

Boota? Boota is/was basically a beast man as Lord Genome created all the animals on the planet via his experiments. Boota had no spiral energy originally but now does due to his exposure to Simons Spiral Energy. So its likely Viral has now changed as well.

Oh and now we know who the beastman was in the first episode

I thought they said that all living creatures with the capability to evolve had spiral power, not just humans, but that Lord Genome's beastmen were created as an exception, they were sterile. Aw feck, I've just been paying too much attention to the massive mechs and battles to follow it all properly ;).

They did, or rather

Having spiral power gives you the ability to reproduce/evolve. All the animals were like beast men and had no spiral power

It was explained in an interview about the animals along with beastmen being created by lord genome.

I just finished watching Elfin Lied and wanted to post my thoughts on the very last scene before I forget.

The person standing at the gate certainly seems to be Lucy as they are standing in the same way.

I've read people saying that either Nyuu or Lucy died so that the other could live, but I think that the broken personalities fused together. This seems to be reinforced by the metaphor of the clock suddenly working again.

Another thing that made me think this was that Nyuu was pure cutsie goodness and Lucy was pure evil, however when Lucy was with Kouta as a child and during their kiss she was a rationale person.

By the end Lucy had lost both her horns so perhaps this had some effect on her ability to produce vectors, or to want to kill humans.

Just like Tony Soprano I want to believe that Lucy lived!!!

One question

How did they get Nana to stop wanting to kill humans?

Overall it was a great series made all the more poweful by the depth of the characters and their humanity, as well as being some of the cutest drawn characters I ever saw. I was constantly in terror as to the fate of Mayu in particular.

Glad you enjoyed it.

In answer to your question:

I think one of the points of the show is that even Diclonius aren't inherently designed to kill or hate humans, it just occurs when society rejects them/their abnormality and they react badly, thus provoking further reaction etc. Nana wasn't special in any particular way, she was just well loved by her 'father', Director Kurama and so she avoided becoming an entirely homicidal maniac.

Lucy's behaviour as a child is somewhat demonstrative, she was a 'normal' child, just when things went badly for her she tended to react with vectors, which inevitably caused a degree of trauma (caused a degree of trauma to Kohta too, lol). In her case it was probably more Kohta's 'betrayal' more than anything which drove her further from humanity.

Check out the Elfen Lied OVA for a bit more on the background. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure the anime doesn't show Kurama's first meeting with Lucy for example.

So back to the discussion about Naruto Shippuden's air dates...

The double ep aired this week after skipping a week, although Dattebayo say their release will be late (and specifically said its not a troll). But fuck me, Shippuden is off air AGAIN for three weeks :). I really hope this isn't going to end up like One Piece, which I gather airs whenever they can be arsed to finish an episode/ the station can be arsed to air it.

I'd rather the current situation than endless fillers :)

What exactly is the problem? When the show's ready to air, they'll air it. Watch something else in the meantime.

Where would there be fillers? (assuming we are talking naruto) They are in the middle of a manga arc that was finished long ago!

Kakashi Gaiden will probably fill a 2 month gap if the need arises.

It's a problem because as soon as it gets going, it stops again. Given the cliffhanger nature of the show, it's a tad irritating. If you are going to off air for several weeks, why air one show in the middle? Why not just save it until you are back in a regular slot? I'd not mind so much then.

Why would they bring up kakashi gaiden if they run out of steam? Surely the sensible place would have been between before the last ep or two of "naruto classic" before the set up for the time skip? I can only see them doing it for an OVA

Japanese TV never takes season breaks. That's just how it is. There's also the matter of locking down the anime licence before other studios can get there first. The market's pretty competitve and landing a hit manga to anime conversion means the studio stays open. Had there been a break when Naruto finished its manga storyline, another studio could have landed the Naruto licence and its fans.

Go read the manga, if you already aren't doing so.

That goes for any, ANY manga-to-anime job. The animation studio will inevitably fuck up. Badly.

Just look at Claymore.

Really? Have yet to see Claymore but judging from this thread, most fans of manga Claymore aren't happy with anime Claymore. I really enjoyed pre-timeskip Naruto despite not have read its manga 'till recently. Not knowing what's next tends to increase the enjoyment of a manga-to-anime series a lot more, although the studios tend to take some liberties in tweaking characters and plots. An anime series is a standalone product in its own right but if it's derived from a manga, surely fans of one will end up checking out the other.

GURRRRREEEENNN LAGAAAAANNN!

It pure awesome! :D:lol:

Stop that!

Anyway, I saw nyoro~n subs didn't release the uncut version of episode 6 that was put on the dvd (the hot springs one) and I didn't watch it at all....

Jesus, I can see why they cut it. Amazing scenes though

Edit: I can't even type properly I'm laughing that much.

Edit 2!: just had a look at the original version that was aired, they removed a fair chunk of the humour out of it which made it quite a dull recap episode but the original version is miles better.
