Not sure, depends how many eps we've got left.

Very slight manga spoiler..

I think they'll finish at the end of the previous 'ark', because there's a timeskip after they've faught the rest of the beasties from up North

They'll end it before the bit I spoke about, because (big manga spoilers):

there's a big f-off fight with a crypic but good 'ending'

Leaves it open for a second series in about 10 years once the manga has caught up :-)

I've just listened to a bootleg of the first opening theme from the new Gundam (L'arc~en~ciel - Daybreak's bell). Sounds alright, and it's probably the only version you'll find until September/october (The anime starts in october and the next L'arc album isn't out until November)

I watched the first episode a looooong time ago, and also had no idea what the hell was going on. Do plan to revisit it when I've got nowt else to watch, though.

I probably will too at some point, but I'm glad I didn't as I picked a series at random from tv-links to start watching and it's turned out to be amazing: Death Note. I've just finished the first series and I'd really recommend it to anyone that's not seen it.

Light Yagami is a brilliant, but bored, high school student who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground in the year 2003. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a Shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the new world" by passing his judgment on criminals.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "Killer"), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

I tell you whats really blowing my mind at the moment. Gungrave. Amazing series. It starts of so slow (as was mentioned by others) but around episode 7 it starts to really draw you into the world. You care what's happening and how the characters deal with everything. However I was a bit annoyed with the way the first 2 episodes are repeated (although cut down a bit) around Episode 18/19 as it didnt add anything to the story and I would have loved to see those episodes used to stretch out the whole mafia story more. Bit of a waste but ho hum. Everything else though.....wow.

I have Trigun to watch next

Ooh! Higurashi movie? Do you know which arc(s) it's going to be based on?

Please don't be whassisface from Death Note and Battle Royale playing keiichi...

I think i'd have to read some synopses about the new shows before saying what I was interested in. (Where's Haruhi 2?!)

Thanks Zapp$ter! I've edited the post to contain the names now. :( I was going to add in a link to each of their respective entires on anidb but oddly enough quite a number of them don't have any information on them so I just left it alone. I'll try them all in the end though except possibly the freaky looking one on the end of the second row. Oh and Kodomo no Jikan which is really, really disturbing. I'm surprised they convinced someone to get it animated.

imp: There wasn't much in the news post I read this from so I'll quote what it says to save you exploding :P

Higurashi no Naku Koroni, the psychological suspense franchise that started with a self-published dÅjin game, will be adapted as a live-action movie for 2008. The franchise has already spawned drama CDs, manga, anime, and novels. Ataru Oikawa (Tomie movies) will direct this film which will screen at two theaters in Tokyo at first.
