I remember watching this late night on the sci-fi channel ages ago, I seem to remember it being pretty good.

You'll be in for a surprise then. The Sci-fi channel cut out a scene that totally changes the entire film.

In it

the main astronaut bloke basically rapes the religious girl.

To be honest, I think I preferred it with the scene cut.

Wait a minute.

I thought that he attempted to rape her and she knocked him unconscious. It's a fine point, but "basically rapes her" suggests he actually did it.

Anyone watched Hayate 16?

It turned into a sketch show... and had two advert breaks... and this is going to have 52 episodes? I didn't really 'get' any of the sketch parodies. Oh well. That Hayate doll that Hinagiku had was very very cute.

I'm either not sharp enough or not 'well-read' enough to get most of the references/parodies either, I only managed a few, the Kid Muscle one was pretty good. And yes, the Hayate doll was pretty good . I hope this isn't going to be a regular thing though... maybe once every 20 episodes or something... I wonder if Hayate will develop an "ultimate move" anytime soon, and to what extent will he start trying to guide Nagi as opposed to merely following her orders...

Also just watched Claymore 16, another excellent episode.

The plot thickens, Priscilla's power had the potential to surpass Teressa's apparently, so I suppose she could be counted as on the same level as the other awaked number ones... The final words... "Kill me" sounded quite haunting there, I do hope Jeane can be saved :(.

Enjoyed it as well but I stupidly went and read quite a bit of the manga so I have spoiled my viewing of the series a little.

well they did mention that prisiclla would/could eventually surpass teresa if she was allowed to live way back in the flashback arc about 9 or 10 episodes ago. Still a nice episode though.

I don't know, it's been ages since I saw it but

I was fairly sure he did actually rape her. At the very least if he is knocked unconscious then that still makes him an attempted rapist, which is hardly acceptable.

Talvalin is right.

I have it here on my PC and checked. He basically attempts, stops himself for a second and then THWACK!

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 2: Enjoying it a bit more this week. Humours not quite there yet for me but there's some good little moments in it;

The chain of stalkers was great as was the spiritual barrier that Fuura sets up for the hikikkomori. I managed to get one of the blackboard gags as well which is pretty good considering how varied the stuff they parody is.

Heh. The Code Geass reference was pretty blatant but it did leave me chuckling. The chain of stalkers bit was quite good too.

An improvement on the first episode I think. Although it's probably more me getting used to what the show is like as was the case with Lucky Star.

i thought that scene was removed from the UK vhs version

hi def honneamise?? add to cart!!

remastered macross? the US one? cleaned up / enhanced video, but not HD - i honestly think 60% of the episodes would suffer if it was HD

I'm having to stop myself posting spoilers from the Manga :-/

Claymore is ace.

:lol::(:lol:

I DID look at the manga, but only at eps I'd already seen just to see how different they were/whether it was worth reading the manga instead. From what I saw the anime was a pretty good recreation of the manga, so I decided just to stick with it. I don't even read the end of show previews to see what's coming, so no way am I going to be spoiling it by reading the manga :D.

EDIT: Just thinking, is it weird that in ep. 16 of Hayate no Gotoku

I thought that the kid's idea of master vs master and butler vs butler was also a good idea (despite the rest of the cast smacking their foreheads at the thought)?

I think if it hadn't been so blatant I might have missed it really! Shaft's injokes are good but I remembering seeing the parody notes for Pani Poni Dash and realising how few I'd manage to get. I did chuckle at the teacher/Takemoto reading the Honey and Clover book as well. :D

I think it's just the type of humour that the series is using that I have to get used to really. I'm far too used to the more obvious humour that I've seen recently in stuff like Seto no Hanayome and the likes.

I thought that was a great episode of Sayonara! I found myself chuckling out loud quite a few times. Of course, I loved the references. :D I just love the animation/art style as well. It's very very cool.

Has anyone been watching any of the other shows in the new lineup? Doujin Work is mildly amusing. Devil May Cry has left me a bit cold. I can't quite put my finger on what I don't like about it, but it just hasn't grabbed me. I've downloaded the first episode of Moetan, but haven't watched it yet. I don't know how seriously it does the whole magical girl thing.

I've tried just about everything new that's been subbed so far this season. :D

Shigurui - Slow but it looks nice. Unfortunately it's too slow and incmprehensible for me to maintain interest

Moetan - I liked it but I don't know why. It's like it's half serious magical girl series but on the other hand it's making fun of the genre as well. Odd to say the least.

Just read Moetan's got the same director as Hayate - I'll give it a go soon.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced it will bring its first anime title to Blu-ray this September, with the debut of 'Tekkonkinkreet.'

Based on Taiyo Matsumoto's serial manga, the film is currently enjoying a limited theatrical run in New York in Los Angeles, but it will make its high-def debut on September 25.

Specs include 1080p video and an uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track in the film's native Japanese (an English Dolby Digital 5.1 dub is also provided).

Among the extras are an audio commentary with the filmmakers, a making-of featurette and an interview with the film's director, Michael Arias.

Sony has set a $28.95 list price for the release.
