I only just got back up to here with Lucky Star, and now I understand what that meant :ph34r: .

I'm tending towards the idea that it was a made up poll, although it could very well be a real thing. Episode 14 to be watched soon... catching up with Nodame Cantabile is also going great, ep. 18 I do believe!

Hmm, I thought the fact they put in special endings would mean that they hadn't made up the poll results - they were so shocked they thought they'd put in a bizarre ending to celebrate the improbability of the event. Or something. I guess. Maybe.

Man. I can't wait for Geass at the end of the month.

You'll regret your decision chow. You'll hit the filler that lasts forever and then you'll wish you'd never have bothered at all.

Yeah, I heard about the endless filler episodes that come later on and it's a damn shame that they found a way to ruin a series that has been excellent so far.

EDIT: I wish I had a teacher like 'Mighty Guy' though. He's the definition of comedy gold.

To be fair to it, Naruto's not amazing bad. It just gets to the point where you have to give up when you realise it will never end. That and Naruto's voice actor finally makes you want to remove your ears to stop his irritating voice.

Do we really need another rendition of Fly me to the moon though? There was already 19 versions for the show before this one

Started watching Naruto 2 days ago, I'm almost at the end of Season 2 already. It's a brilliant show and I blame Mr Jeff for me being too lazy to watch it earlier.

It really is. I've been rewatching from the beginning via dvd rentals and just got to the beginning of the Chunin Exam arc. It's nice to go back and see the original dynamic (Such as Lee being a hard ass to Sasuke and Naruto while trying to pull Sakura  ).

I can't belive they made this the english name. It's better as a pun

The filler starts on episode 142*, so you could just jump from there to the Shippuden series.....

You could always watch the last ep of the original series just to see where it goes if you wanted but its not necessary.

*well half way through the episode

I watched the whole of the filler, and while I've nothing against it (it's perfectly watchable) it's certainly missable.

I'm loving the end credits for Season 3. They're so much better than the rather annoying swaying Sakura and Ino.
There are only 3 good ones as far as i recall. Wind (the first), Viva Rock (the third) and Hajimete Kimi to Shabetta (the 8th). That leaves 12 shit ones before Shippuden starts. the second one was absolutely abysmal.

Thankfully most of the op themes are great.

Indeed, Lee is ace. He quickly became one of my favourite characters ever since he first appeared. The same can be said about Guy.

Yeah, I checked wiki and found out that "Mighty Guy" was his name in the English version. It sounds so naff.

I'm quite annoyed that it took me this long to finally sit down and watch Naruto, I feel as though I've been missing out on some top notch anime for several years

I'm pretty sure the filler starts around episode 135 or 136. We wouldn't want people to be watching 6 episodes worth of that crap ^_^

Just watched Keroro 13, the introduction of Dororo. The Keroro Platoon Super Deathblow is just about the funniest thing I've seen in ages.

I see what you meant, Zappster, about the show being a bit variable in quality after seven or so episodes. When it gets it right though, it gets it soooo right!

bit of a surprise

One of the classics of anime will make its high-def debut when Bandai Visual brings 'Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise' to Blu-ray and HD DVD this fall.

Due to hit both Blu-ray and HD DVD on September 11, Bandai will present the acclaimed anime masterpiece in a newly-remastered 20th Anniversary Edition.

Tech specs are identical on both versions, and are set to include a restored print remastered in full 1080p video, along with the original Japanese soundtrack in both Dolby Digital TrueHD and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround versions. (An optional English dub in standard Dolby Digital 5.1 will also be included.)

Intriguingly, both next-gen releases are being billed as "two-disc sets," with the second disc being a standard-def DVD. At press time, it wasn't clear what might appear on that second disc -- the fact that Bandai is calling both next-gen releases "combos" has led some to speculate that the standard-def DVD may just be a duplicate copy of 'Honneamise' in standard-def. Here's hoping that's not the case, and that the second disc will contain some as yet unannounced supplements, instead.

Bandai has set a rather pricey $79.99 MSRP for both the Blu-ray and HD DVD versions of 'Wing of Honneamise.'

We've added listings for 'The Wings of Honneamise' to both our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule under September 11. Watch for full supplemental details and box cover art to be revealed in the coming weeks.

We've also set up dedicated threads for Bandai Visual's latest announcement in our Forums area -- click the following links to discuss the 'Wings of Honneamise' Blu-ray release and the 'Wings of Honneamise' HD DVD release.

Anyone watched Hayate 16?

It turned into a sketch show... and had two advert breaks... and this is going to have 52 episodes? I didn't really 'get' any of the sketch parodies. Oh well. That Hayate doll that Hinagiku had was very very cute.

EDIT: Higurashi episode 2 was great! Not only the fun atmosphere and enjoyable school hi-jinx, but also the plot.

it seems to pick off exactly where the first season left off - with members of the core group having memories of previous hinamizawas and accordingly changed personalities. I'm right in thinking this is an anime-original arc, yes? oh, and there seemed to be a new character in the credits and in the ending filmstrip thing. Hmm!

Yarr, new anime-arc indeed. At least, I can't see how it links into any of the old ones other than the Shion/Mion one perhaps. It was interesting to see Rika's monologues throughout and I hope they do more now that the repetition theme is known. I'm itching to know who starts the violence now!

And yes, that is a new character in the op/ed. :(

<honneamise>

I remember watching this late night on the sci-fi channel ages ago, I seem to remember it being pretty good.

Have there been many high-def releases of anime yet? Recently I've been downloading some high-def stuff and would be nice to actually to be able to buy licensed stuff in HD too, for whenever I actually get an HDTV.

I love Lee, his Way of the Drunken Fist is awesome.

If you like Naruto, then you'll LOVE ONE PIECE!

One piece is great, but it's just so ridiculously long. It takes a lot of dedication to catch up

I think honneamise was the first anime movie I watched :P due to sci-fi channel (well apart from maybe a SF II anime)

I don't think there has been. At least, not in the west. I can't remember if the remastered Macross plus is hi-def or not...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if Macross Plus comes out on Blu-Ray only, then I'm buying a bloody PS3!

Regarding Naruto, I've just got to Season 4 where

the Frog Boss (what a legend he is) transforms into bloody Nine Tails! I almost let out a big whoop when Naruto finally summoned him.

I don't think I've ever been this engrossed in a long anime series before.

EDIT:

Headbutt FTW

You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait till you get to ep68 onwards*

On a side note, I hate breaking a show like Naruto (which flows from arc to arc very quickly pre shippuden) into seasons every 26eps. It's very unnatural for such a show. To me seasons break up a show into specific sections whereas season 4 for example has FIVE arcs going on (and two of them are only partial arcs using the "seasons" system).

*Spoiler for those who are upto date:

Thats when the konoha Invasion arc kicks off

Yeah the whole Season structure in Naruto feels wrong. Season 2 and 3 were all about the Chuunin exams, that's one main story arc with a few major subplots and really should be one Season. Episode 81 is where the next story arc appears to start, and that really should mark the start of the next season. I can see why they've divided up the episodes like that, but I don't think it was a great idea.

I'm assuming that Jarai (not sure if I've spelt that right) is going to become the next Hokage.

Once you realise half the episodes are intros, trailers and catchups, you'll fly through 'em. I watched the lot over a couple of months, at 2-4hrs a day. Hey, beats watching Big Brother.
