Just finished Cowboy Bebop (had been meaning to get round to it for a while now) including the movie. Beautiful series, one can't help but feel attracted to the characters, for all their flaws they're just so human. It was all rather episodic with a very swift ending, but nevertheless as the ending music plays and I write this, I think it really was a great series all things considered.

man, episode 4 of lagann sucked donkey balls, why they decided to switch directors for an episode and actually let them use such a sub par art style is beyond me.

glad its back to normal now.

Yeah it was. Besides they've been changing directors for pretty much each episode of the series IIRC. The only thing "wrong" with episode 4 was the art style. I didn't see a whole lot wrong with it and the episode had most of the ingredients that makes Gurren Lagann so fun to watch, so personally I had little to no complaints about it. Certainly didn't warrant all the drama surrounding it IMO. My pick for the worst episode so far is episode 6.

Finally caught up to date with all 32 volumes of Berserk. Wow, what a series. Takes a bit of a dip around volume 18 but still amazing stuff.

Loving the new armor he's picked up as well

. Shame it's going to take decades for the writer to finish though.

He's only 41. :) Still, it's taken him 17 years to reach this far and I'd argue that he must be nearly halfway through. I mean, after all that, surely. 17 more years to go!

I thought Claymore was bad, taking 6 years to get halfway through but this takes the biscuit.

Sometimes I worry how old I'll be when One Piece finishes. And how much I will have spent on the tankobons.

Bibly: Yay for bebop!

Anybody that likes lucky star: another special ending this week!

Well wait no more because it's here. :)

For anyone in anticipation about episode 16 of Gurren Lagann it's going to be a recap episode unfortunately. Not because the producers want to but because the broadcasters are making them.

I could tell you but it could possibly spoil the next part of the series.

Reason:

In the next section of the series, it's set 7 years in the future like the very start of episode 1 so rather than throw people into this "bewildering new environment" they're giving a recap before starting on it. :)

This. The current stuff that's being released in the manga is abominable.

yeah... it probably won't end though. There's always a stronger enemy just round the corner. I think the stuff I'm looking forward to being revealed in Bleach is Ichigo's dad's history and Urahara's bankai.

I did think One Piece was nearly over, but now I'm not so sure. Well, I mean, crossing the Red Line, the proper 'half-way' point of the Grand line has been delayed by the current arc...I thought they were supposed to be going to Fish-man island to meet Jimbei the Shichibukai...(To be fair, I'm loving Brooke. :)) I know the half way point of the grand line doesn't necessarily designate half the story - the second half could be very sparsely inhabited or whatever. Anyway, things seem to be coming to a head with Luffy's notoriety, great unsolved questions being answered and the big set up for a clash between the great powers. I only worry how long Oda will take to draw all of this! Still, it's a good fun read, so I'm more than happy for it to go a few more years.

I've become slightly obsessed with Keroro Gunso in the past couple of days. It's not amazing, but it's a really watchable show, and he's so adorable. The manga's not bad either. cheers for the info a while ago, zappster.

I had read that One Piece was originally planned to have been done in 5 years but due to the popularity of it it got prolonged. Might have been wikipedia where I read it so take with a pinch of salt.

Heh, glad you like Keroro. I keep saying it but I should really get back to it, it's been far too long. Perhaps once I've finished off the first season of Higurashi, which I'm enjoying quite a bit.

Yay! More people watching Higurashi. :) I tried to watch the first season again to remind myself what happened but had to give up after the first episode again. It's somehow worse knowing exactly whats going to happen.

Ooh, post some opinions once you do, Mr. Jeff and I have had some quite interesting chats about it. It'd be nice to bring some fresh conspiracies to the table! whereabouts have you gotten up to?

About One Piece, I read something similar, in that Oda Eiichiro didn't want One Piece to be his life's defining manga and he wanted to pursue other projects. It's kinda funny to think that it'll be ten years old as of next month.

EDIT re: Mr. Jeff: :)

Don't laugh at me! I can't handle Rena's cat eye's murderous stare while simultaneously wielding an axe. :)

On the plus side, the first ep of the new series certainly proved interesting. ;)

Edit: Although hearing the voice actor for Koizumi from Haruhi yet again in a new series made me wince.

oh? what other stuff is Koizumi in? and I wasn't laughing at you, I was laughing at the fact that it's true; it is scarier once you know!

Ahh, I haven't gotten the first ep from the new series yet, I was thinking of sticking with Ayu subs, which I probably will, but maybe I'll download one that's already out, because I'm curious...

He's in about 6 series at the moment but since he has such a recognisable voice I'm hearing him almost everywhere. :)

I was originally going to wait for Ayu's release of the first episode since they're reliable but I cracked and downloaded the first available version because I'm impatient. I'll probably sstill get the Ayu version for the better quality translation though.

Yeah, that's what I'm planning on doing. Right now though, I'm downloading the Hauu~ sub. My reason? Because it reminded me of Kanon's Makoto's 'Auu' sound. (Ayu automatically makes me think of Kanon, despite it being a generic name.) Anyway, I'll watch it tomorrow. I'm too tired (read: deathly afraid) to watch it now.

(I had a look on Wikipedia for Koizumi's voice acting roles - I don't think it had been recently updated, or I'm just not watching the shows he's in).

The Hauu sub is reasonabley decent. There's a few typos but it's understandable enough. It's made me desperate for the next episode however. :)

(Mr.Koizumi is currently involved in the following series: Engage Planet Kiss Dum, Idolmaster Xenoglossia, Kaze no Stigma, Koutetsushin Jeeg, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, Seto no Hanayome, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, Higurashi(brief appearance maybe) and Zombie Loan)

Edit: Eep. I've moved up to 4th position of number of posts in this thread. ;)

Hmm... well I did start watch higurashi when it was airing but for whatever reason (possibly waiting on subs from Triad, I forget tbh) it dropped down my list of stuff to watch. Now's as a good a time as any to catch up I thought, since the new season's started. Anyway I first left off at episode 9 and today sat through an entire arc finishing at episode 13.

Keiichi was really quite annoying and stupid in this past arc (perfect crime LOL, not when you go telling everyone you meet exactly what you've done) and some of the images were as disturbing as ever. Tbh my viewing has been totally disjointed on the show but it was interesting to see another take on some of the character's personalities, particularly Oishi being more aggressive and Keiichi being more "hands on" and gradually getting crazier and more deranged with each passing arc. My guess is there's definitely something in the water :)

edit: oh and shinsen have their sub out which shouldn't be too bad compared to some of the ones floating around.

ahh! I didn't even realise the rich kid was Koizumi in Seto no Hanayome. The only one I recognised from Zombie Loan was Hikaru from Ouran as one of the two main guys. The one with the sword? Still, I thought that was a pretty awful show. Probably didn't help that the subs were terrible, but still, I didn't find much to like about it. I'm not watching any of those other shows, though.

Higurashi 2's first episode was alright, a nice gentle introduction.

I'm glad it looks like Rika will be focussed on pretty early on in this season. Not that they'll properly explain anything until the final episodes, again!

I was slightly disappointed by the OP, the original one was brilliant! Far creeper/more interesting visuals. The ED is pretty good though.

Zappster:

That arc and the short one after it are my least favourite in the first series, so, in my opinion, the best is yet to come. I found the changing personalities a bit weird too, but there's almost an explanation for it...

I'm in second place, I don't know whether to be pleased or afraid :o . Meh's still way in the lead though  .

After watching eps. 12 and 13 of Romeo x Juliet:

What're the chances of Romeo getting killed for this? Or maybe imprisoned? Montague obviously cares much for his legacy, but probably more so for hanging onto power. Also, we have yet to find an equal to Francisco and Curio, those guards really don't seem much of a match. It saddens me somewhat that Juliet scarcely ever demonstrates the fighting/althetic capabilities that made her the Red Whirlwind, these days she just seems to fall over lots and generally have men defend her. I'm also surprised Tybalt didn't put in an appearance, he's probably given up on her and is planning his own revenge.

Ep. 15 of Hayate no Gotoku has been subbed too, will probably watch it in the evening. I can't believe it's going to be another 52 ep. long series, that'll the be the first of such a length I'd have watched as it was being released.

Oh, and ep. 6 of Dennou Coil was also pretty good (yeah I know I'm behind, so sue me ;P). I'm still taken in by the show's charm, analysing the Saatchis and whatnot  .

Meh will always be in the lead. Wherever there is poor quality animation being released, he'll be there. Wherever a company produces a shoddy looking anime, he'll be there. Wherever anyone dares mention the name Evangelion, he'll be there.

I can't believe it's going to be 52 episodes. I thought they were going to be struggling to get it to last 26!
