Anybody watched the film "Memories" containing three science fiction based tales?

Yep, great isnt it?

One of my favorite amvs is made from the 'rose' one to a remix of Phantom of the Opera.

Just remembered an anime I've been meaning to watch more of and off the hand searched for it on youtube, it has the episodes.

Ghost Stories. Basically when the americans got hold of the script to dub, they threw it away and made it as funny as the Berserk legendary outtakes. I think the original would have been crap if watched by subtitles, the dub is just a fan pisstake and is very funny, even a bit childish at times.

Onto episode 4

Not as fucked up storywise, but certainly what happens to the characters and their hsitory is fucked up.

This. 14 or so characters and I'm betting every single one of them is going to have a seriously messed up background or something.

At least it accurately shows what happens when you let a giant robot roam around in downtown tokyo.

Lol-tastic Haruhi AMV.

The colours! They BURNNN.

Oh, and don't forget to stay for the credits at the end.

In other news, Romeo x Juliet 9...

I sort of predicted that guy would be a traitor, the show doesn't seem like the sort to kill off a bunch of characters... although it would certainly have a big impact. More likely though they'll be imprisoned and rescued. Also, the mysterious tree and its gardener, hope that gets explained a little more soon

Yeah. Episode 7 was just fucked up, even moreso than episode 6. I hope we have one or two with some normal backgrounds.

Just got round to watching the cowboy bebop movie, that was pretty awesome!

Although Darker than Black is pretty good, Sola has been pretty interesting and Hayate surprisingly funny, I think Dennou Coil is shaping up to be my favourite of the current season.

Dennou Coil is just amazing stuff. :( Darker than Black is a bit hmm at the moment. It's enjoyable enough but it's not really going anywhere or explaining much. Hayate's got the cheesiness, Seto no Hanayome is ridiculous and Lunar need to sub episode 10 of sola. :( Gurren Lagann is fantastic as well. So many good things this season. :(

My list for next month's offerings is at 13 which is a lot nicer than the 35 I've got at the moment. :(

I've yet to watch ep.4 of Dennou Coil, and I'm still waiting for Shinsen to see if they're still doing Darker Than Black... I've yet to watch ep.10 of Hayate on my HD BUT I HAVE got episode 10 of Sola! Mwhahahaa, shame I've only watched up to ep.9 :( , but I'll probably watch the latest ep. tonight!

13.... 35 :( , I'm going for eight of the new things I think at the moment, with a few old things on hold.

Sola 10 then. That was surprising. Or I'm just really bad at seeing obvious setups.

Didn't see the whole Yorito-is-a-giant-paper-doll at all. Rather like I didn't see the stabbing of Matsuri. When you think about it, it does explain a lot of things though. I'm still rather bewildered as to how they'll wrap things up. Matsuri's going to fight Aono with the sword perhaps? But for what reason? ;) Edit: Loved the little sketch right at the end where the preview is. ;)

Loving it though. :D

Edit again: Meant to add, Bibly, guess which favourite military nutter of yours makes an appearance in Lucky Star? (The voice actor anyway) ;)

Mmm, I watched that today too, I didn't see it coming either. I wonder what's going to happen though, there are still 3 episodes left...

And about lucky star: great!

Came entirely out of the blue for me too:

I really thought Aono was just a powerful love-crazed maniac but now this complicates matters more. Her attempts to stop him from remembering really do seem to have been in his best interests, after a fashion, after all... and why the blazes does Matsuir need to know how to wield the sword? I mean, now that Yorito knows the truth why's there got to be anymore conflict? It's not as if Aono is going to disown him or do anything stupid is she? She does love him dearly, unless we have a sort of "I love him more" sort of thing, but they had their fight, and made up... sort of :( . And thanks for the sketch tip-off, I usually skip the episode previews because I want it all to be a surprise ;) . Oh, and I thought the scene where the blind rolled up behind Yorito was pretty effective, not sure why exactly, but I just loved the shot with Aono in the darkness on the left, and Yorito with the light to his back.

It's definitely got me hooked!

Oh, and hoorah for Lucky Star! He better get a good role... which reminds me, I'd better get round to reading the latest Burning One Man Force chapter to be translated...

The Sola previews don't actually give anything of the next episode away beyond the title so you can feel free to watch it to your hearts content. I always like looking at the previews for either the little sketch some shows put in or just reading the obscure hints or philosophical nonsense they add.

As for Mr.Sousuke's apearance, alas, it's only a minor role but I just immediately thought "Bibly" when I heard his voice. ;)

Gah! I didn't notice his voice! Was it in the preview?

And about Sola...

I thought she might sacrifice herself and give her life to Yorito or Aono, since she blames herself...

Nope, it was This Guy! ;) Only a small appearance but I'm now begining to spot his voice a mile away because of Bibly. ;)

Sola:

I'm thinking she's possibly going to have another fight with Aono to stop he being such a ccrazy obseesive person that goes around making human paper dolls of dead crushes.

:( :( ;)

It does beg the question why it took this long to 'create' Yorito, unless he's a) not the first incarnation of his former self or B) the spell took absolutely ages to research and prepare. Also, Matsuri must have recognised him from the very start surely? So, all her actions were done with this in mind? It would probably take a careful rewatch to see if there were any signs missed...

EDIT: For all you Claymore fans out there Eclipse have released a subbed version of episode 11.

EDIT2: Hayate No Gotoku 10 pretty good, although

I thought it was pretty clear that the old guy was the master of the house, although maybe it was an intentional use of the cliche. I'm liking the randomness though, like that girl with the ice lolly, oh and they're still finding new ways to trample whatever's left of the fourth wall, I like it :)

The amusing thing is that fansubbers are only now being issued with cease and desist notices with the deadline being just before the last episode is aired. All because they're starting their own subbing project(apparently).

Ep.11 of Claymore was pretty interesting...

Does explain some stuff:

Seems pretty clear that the Organisation wanted them dead, based on that guy's reactions and the speech of the male awakened being. I was also pretty sure Claire wasn't going to stay the weakest Claymore, now we know for sure she's one of the strongest :(, along with those others. However, if all of them were single digit strength... how come the awakened being still managed to utterly trash them except for the intervention of Claire at the end? Unless groups hunting male awakened beings/other powerful awakened beings are comprised of Numbers 1-5 it's hard to believe that they could ever match up.

Claymore:

As far I understand it, they got surprised off the bat by the power of it thus leading to the mass beating they got. However, once Clare and Miria started evading the attacks, no matter what kind of power he put into them, if they didn't hit, it's not much use.

As for group composition(slight manga spoiler, no main plot points revealed):

When going after an awakened being, the group will always contain a single didigt number folowed by another 2-4 lesser claymore from perhaps 10 down to 30. Most likely they're to act as support or distraction for the single digit and to help gang up on the being when it's weakened.

Is that in reference to death note? I know the series has been licensed, so I assume it's the american company that issued the orders? If only all companies were as welcome as Bandai to fansubbing (well, in the case of Suzumiya Haruhi anyway).

Yeah it's with regards to Death Note. I think it's Viz that are involved in the translation and subbing. Quite a lot of moaning from the people on Neogaf at how bad Viz are at translating though. :)

Edit: Having just seen the latest Death Note, you can colour me impressed. I'm still clueless as to how it'll end.

:) Turns out the director of the Bokurano anime hates the manga version so has asked the creator of the manga if he can change it to give it a more a cheerful conclusion. The creator has then replied saying that as long as he doesn't use magic to make it all better he's free to give it a shot. :(

Begs the question really, why direct a series you hate then change it away from how it was supposed to end.

Edit: Forgot that's a minor spoiler. Arse.

Man, this is weird.

I'm visiting my relatives in thailand at the moment, and it's kinda bizarre, I haven't been in two years and now two of my cousins have become complete otakus. We went out to a restaurant after I arrived yesterday, they soundtracked the journey with the OP/ED songs from Haruhi, ScuRum, Fumoffu, Hayate, Lucky Star, Sola and a few I didn't know. :) I don't know if I can handle the level of otakudom being presented to me here!

So anyway, one of them is pushing me to download Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, (remember that really creepy/gross youtube clip posted of that girl slamming her head into that knife...?) has anyone seen it, and is it actually good?

Link to comment

Yes! It's really really good. There are a fair few moments where it's some rather...harsh? violence like the the clip with the knife but I thought that the storyline more than made up for it. It's a rather bizarre mix between the comedy and violence; one moment it'll seem like a normal amusing everyday-life-in-a-village-school type show then out of nowhere will come some really creepy stuff to just really make you wonder what's going on.

If you can handle the violence, you'll manage. You may wish to try perhaps, just the first arc, which is only the first 4 episodes.

2nd series in July! Larger budget, more murder, more creepiness! Can't wait. :)

Alright, I'll give it a go! Soonish! Taking after you, I've picked up a couple more series (Well, only Seto No Hanayome so far, but Bokurano sounds interesting so I'm going to give that a try too). Which brings my current series total to... 15!

Actually my cousin showed me the first arc fo Higurashi last night, although it was subbed in thai (I can't read thai!) and the violence didn't seem all that bad... although I was only half-watching it.

although the needle in the food made me wince..and I'm quite intrigued by the dual personalities of the girls... the paranoia element seemed pretty interesting too.

cheers mr. jeff, I think I can always count on you have watched everything, ever! :)

Crazy child-psycopath action aside.

I just watched ep.4 of Dennou Coil:

The digital 'war' was really quite something. Very fun to watch and such an interesting concept, hacking brought into the world of 3-D. In any case, what was it at the end which had the main girl so spooked, the little bit of Japanese they managed to extract from the Encoder? My subs didn't have anything for it, so I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas.

Dennou Coil:

Presumabely it has something to do with the small tet that was shown yes. It's a bit hard to translate into english a fragmented sentence in japanese so I'd imagine that's why they left it alone. I feel a bit sorry for Yuko when bitchy Yuko started laying into her at the lockers.

Interesting stuff mind. Love the little Mojo's. :P
