Does it have the Meh Stamp Of Approval?

If it doesn't he needs a kick in the teeth.

[/joking*]

Yeah. Volume 6 is basically where the anime is at the moment. Bah, all this talk has made me want to go find volume 13 now. Need to revise!

Yeah... revise... which reminds me, Chapter 2b of Burning One Man Force has been released for a while, (not that I've had time to read it  ) anyone else following the FMP! novels?

*Only half mind you.

Edit: 4 minutes later. and it's going to take... 15 minutes... sometimes torrents are great!

What the hell is taking Froth-Bite so long with nodame?

I'd imagine some are busy with real life. Yep, hard as it is to believe, amazingly subbers take exams, hand in coursework, work for a living etc... like the rest of us. Sometimes even do stuff for their own enjoyment.

Just be thankful that it's been less than a month and that there are other options. I'm still waiting on some stuff to get subbed 6 months to a year after the last release, or sometimes just to have any subs at all for a show.

Woot. :P Then once you've watched them all you can help me convince Bibly to catch up.

When all other anime is exhausted, then we'll see about changing.

But... but... Nodame Cantabile is good :) .

In all seriousness though, it's understandable that this time of year must be pretty busy/hectic for groups who have members taking exams etc. Thankfully there's plenty of good stuff going round this season!

mm, I didn't mean to come off sounding so petulant, I'm well aware of this, it happens to most groups, it seems. What stuff are you waiting for?

Pah, when I've got nothing else left to watch. Still got ep.8 of Romeo x Juliet and 6&7 of Sola...

Clearly what this thread needs is a modified first post along the lines:

Anime Meh likes (the really good shit)

Recommended by everyone else

I wouldn't mind that, I'm pretty sure at least half of the people who frequent this thread could list mine. At the very least they'd all be able to spot my favourite (although I'm not even so sure of that anymore, so much good new stuff... :) ).

EDIT: Eek, this looks somewhat complicated. Which Lurk Manga release are most people following? So many to choose from :(.

Just thought I'd ask this question again ;P.

When the hell does the new School Rumble start?

It shouldn't have been this long. :(

Hmm, TV Tokyo are still currently producing Naruto Shippuuden and Hayate No Gotoku, maybe they'll get round to it after that. I do know that some fans disliked the second season in relation to the first so maybe they're waiting to prepare some new jokes.

Or possibly they need to give the manga it's based on time to write some more. A third season would be good though...

Doremi have subbed episode 8 as well you know. :(

Turns out I'd downloaded that, but subsequently forgotten about it  . Upon closer inspection I've watched ep. 6 and just have eps 7 & 8 of Sola to go ;P.

Well they've done a fair bit more manga but none of it has the comedic aspect of the first series. Nice enough storyline I guess but just not enough of the comedic touch.

What do you mean?

The packlist for "Claymore" on the Lurk Manga website has quite a number of different packs, it looks like they've been translated/scanlated by different groups. I was wondering if there was any in particular which was better than the rest, or are they all fine?

So it's all plot driven  ? I find that somewhat hard to imagine... or does the comedy they try and implement just fail?

I suppose there are touches of comedy in it while it progresses with the various pairing between harima, eri, tsukamoto et all but they're just nowhere near as funny. For example, the randomness of harima runnng off from school to become a bearded wise man with a following of various zoo animals isn't the same type of humour as what is in the later chapters of the manga. It's more like the second season humour rather than the first if that makes sense.

Apologies from me too. I perhaps shouldn't have been as cuntish and sarcastic with my reply.

Mainly stuff I'm waiting for is a few old mecha shows like Dragonar and L-Gaim, but there's also Animal Yokocho which is being subbed by a.f.k. and hasn't been completed yet (18 out of 51 episodes done). It seems to go 3-4 months without a release and then maybe three episodes will come out. Believe it or not it started about 6 months before Haruhi did yet that seemed to get the most attention. Aniyoko is not a fantastic series by any stretch but at the tiime I used to watch pretty much every series that came out and so it was quite annoying to see that (even though I did much prefer Haruhi). Keroro Gunso was another example of a recent show that went ages without any new subs e.g. there was like a 6 month wait between episodes 7 and 8, and then no new episodes for another year or so(perhaps a bit less). Luckily with that show someone else picked it up and released a ton of episodes and it also got licensed. Anyway I guess the point was I'm used to it and I can understand the frustration as a viewer of waiting when you want stuff asap but I can also see where the subbers are coming from.

I'm not really sure how involved TV Tokyo are in the production of Naruto and Hayate. I'd always thought that they were just a channel in Japan and they outsourced their stuff to animation studios. I've honestly got no idea about what goes on but I can't imagine it's to do with them being involved in two shows. After all the first series of SR was around the time Bleach started and Yakitate Japan was airing, not to mention the old Naruto. I suppose it's a possibility but as before I didn't think they were that heavily involved in the production.

Oh and Bibly, if you look at the packlist it's mostly the same groups it's just the same files on different bots. The only choice you really have is for the first volume and a few chapters of the manga and that's between Inane and m-s. After volume 2 there's only one option. Anyway fwiiw, what I went with was m-s for volumes 1-7 and 10Sigh for volumes 8-13

S'alright dude.

Is Keroro Gunso worth checking out then? I've heard mixed things about it.

I'm also hopng for more series one style humour in the new school rumble. I've downloaded most of the manga available, but haven't made a start on it yet.

I've seen about 18ish episodes of it (got a bucketload to watch yet). I really enjoyed the first 7 or so episodes and then after that it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Although it had some great bits like the references to gundam and stuff. I haven't seen it in a long time but what I personally remember thinking was that when it was funny it was School Rumble levels almost. It perhaps didn't have as high a hit ratio as SR season 1. I'd also liken it to the recent Hayate no Gotoku, in that it's chock full of wordplay, references and parodies (especially gundam ones) although perhaps more obscure and not as recent. It's a very long running show too (in the 140+ ep count and still going IIRC) so I suppose it could get old. Also like Hayate it has some great characters which generally make for an enjoyable watch if not always a funny watch as I was very rarely bored through any particular episode. Hmm... might start catching up with it again to see how it stands up now. Oh and I love the narrator in it, easily rivals Hayate's narrator for one of the funniest in a show and should be another familiar voice.

I guess in the end I'd say it's definitely worth checking out especially if you're on the look out for some lighthearted, crazy/random comedy. I'm not perhaps as confident in recommending it as say a Nodame or a Genshiken, but you could do a lot worse than checking out a few episodes of Keroro. Based on my own personal rankings I'd put it a notch below School Rumble and a notch higher than Hayate. Your mileage may vary, IMO, and all the usual disclaimers.

Oh cheers, I'll probably heck it out when there's a bit of a good show drought or something.

Bibly: Doremi have overtaken Lunar subbing Sola! 8) the end is nigh...

Yeah, I'm downloading as we (I) speak!

Shame I've only watched up to ep. 7

And he just stabbed Matsuri :( ! Admittedly almost certainly under the influence of Aono, but it's still a shock!

but I imagine I'll be slowly working my way back up to date eventually.

I AM up to date with Romeo x Juliet now, I reckon I like the Tybalt character, although I can forsee all sorts of misunderstandings coming up in the next episode...

I don't think Tv Tokyo are involved directly with the production of shows other then perhaps financial backing (usually shows have several financial backers anyway) in return for airing the shows. Certainly the production of Naruto is credited as being by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex

Jeez, Bokurano is horrible. These kids really are fucked up. Yet at the same time, the show is really watchable. :(

"Gainax" fucked up, or better/worse?

Going by episode credits though e.g. the one I'm looking at right now (episode 5 of Shippuuden) has TV Tokyo and Studio Pierrot credited under "production", which was what anidb said as well(that's what I used when I talked about it previously). As before no idea what that involvement was exactly but they are credited for it.
