Just watched ep.10 of Hayate No Gotoku... it's probably the weirdest thing I've seen since FLCL...

Takes breaking the fourth screen to a whole new level...

Also, I'm definitely not regretting downloading Romeo x Juliet, only four eps or so in, but it's certainly entertaining.

Just watched ep.10 of Hayate No Gotoku... it's probably the weirdest thing I've seen since FLCL...

Takes breaking the fourth screen to a whole new level...

It was some funny stuff. Particularly laughed at;

"Hayate" in the game at the start getting utterly murdered by santa and had chuckle at the eye-catch of the demon (voiced by Mikuru from Haruhi) doing the pose and wearing the outfit from Haruhi.

I'm not sure why it has become normal to release boxed sets in the UK in two parts (the cost puts people off?), so yeah, it's all about the R1 set.

I would probably buy NGE and FMP! on DVD, but it would be heavily dependent on cost & features etc. .

I already have Spirited Away on DVD though, lovely film.

I'm less inclined to buy whole box sets for a series, considering the cost.

I do just that, but not at the prices they force on us Brits. I'm a 20GBP per series kinda guy. Do the same for TV (i.e. 24), with the same limits.

Anyway I'm pretty much the same as Ryan although my limit is perhaps a bit higher. It might take me a while to get round to buying some of the shows I've really liked(Planetes being the perfect example), but I usually do in the end.

Past few days I have rewatched Neon Genesis Evangelion. It still stands up pretty well in my eyes and is a very enjoyable show. However the ending to the series is just stupid. Not the film ending but the actual final 2 episodes. Its not surprising they made a film with a proper ending as NOTHING is answered in the 2 eps whatsoever. The story seems to be aiming for a lofty goal for all the characters and then BLAM. 40 minutes of repeat animation, text and Shini's thoughts. I understand they were skint at the time of the ending but if I had been watching this on TV at the time Id have been pretty pissed off.

I'm not sure exactly to what depths of near bankruptcy they were nearing, but when I heard about the financial issues plaguing the end of the series I did wonder exactly how much money actually went into making that ending...

...and you're right, NGE really is quite timeless and capable of holding its own when compared to all manner of modern anime, even with the "wtf" ending.

Watching it back now it cant have been very much. About 15 minutes are pure and simple hand drawings. Im sure someone will say thats how it was meant to be but Im of the mind they just couldnt afford the frames required for anymore animation.

Well quite clearly Claire inherited something from her former mentor! She hasn't quite yet transformed into the 'ultimate' Claymore worthy of No.1 status, but she's definitely got something to make her stand out. Also, that's probably the most phallic/hentai scene I've ever seen in an anime (Fate Stay Night comes close though), that and the providence of the male awakened beings makes me wonder what the manga (I assume it's more explicit than the anime, they usually are) is like .

I'm also up to ep. 6 of Romeo x Juliet, looking good! Mysterious dark haired fellow... plot developments ahoy!

She hasn't quite yet transformed into the 'ultimate' Claymore worthy of No.1 status, but she's definitely got something to make her stand out. Also, that's probably the most phallic/hentai scene I've ever seen in an anime (Fate Stay Night comes close though), that and the providence of the male awakened beings makes me wonder what the manga (I assume it's more explicit than the anime, they usually are) is like .

Not really much of the inheriting Teresa's abilities really but more refinement of a normal Claymore's abilities (since Mirian?, was also able to pull it off). Still, there's hope yet. I also chuckled at the tongue/phallus scene as well although when he starts rumaging around inside her body, that was a bit nasty All the claymore stuff is actually really interesting. It's just when you get scenes with Raki that the quality dips.

I've given in and I'm downloading the manga since I need to know more about what happens.

Next 2 bokurano eps are out finally and with luck the first ep of Tales of Symphonia will appear at the weekend.

If thats true it really does show. Shame really as the series was a belter up until that point.

Though I could never understand why they introduced and killed off another child in episode 24. It really destroyed the pacing of the series as Shinji seemed to treat this new kid as his best friend only for him to die 5 minutes later.

There's plans to release 3 new movies retelling the entire NGE saga and rejigging some of the story elements (the 5th child coming in much earlier for example). The first is out September in Japan.

I've not actually read all the first 6 volumes just the last "mini-arc" The Slashers and it's pretty much exactly the same as the anime albeit with a few translation changes. I read up to the end of Volume 12 last night/this morning and all I can say is that it blows away the crappy early few episodes that we got left with. Basically the pacing and action we've got at the moment in the anime will continue on. Personally, I'm really looking forward to seeing some of this stuff animated.
