Anybody know when the next part of Makoto Shinkai's Byousoku 5cm thing is out? I searched the forum, but all I could find about it was Meh stating that he thought Shinkai's stuff was shit. This surprised me very very much. I on the other hand, feel that while on the surface it should be shit, there is something about The Place Promised that I really like. I quite liked the first Byousoku short too. Anyway, anyone know?

I got "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" after reading good things about it in this thread, I hope it's good.

Does anyone have any recommendations of anime movies I may not have heard of that are worth watching. I've seen all the Ghibli movies and I agree that they're great, before someone recommends them, heh.

Yeah, as I said, I thought there were aspects of Place Promised that were rubbish, like umm, the plot and the dialogue. But I liked the atmosphere and "feel" of the movie, the first half moreso, if that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't. I enjoyed watching it, it was relaxing. Also, I love the soundtrack.

Really looking forward to watching The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

It is quite slow-moving until episode 8, then it all kicks off and some things start to come together leaving a definite plot for the series to follow.

Episode 9 was great as well. So...

I guess despite the fact that Claire is the weakest Claymore, at some point the spirit of Teresa is going to awaken within her, or fuse with her in some way, making her ultra-powerful? All these little things suggested in the opening credits are starting to have a context now. As a kid Claire did say to the shady organization guy that she wanted to take Teresa into herself. Maybe that's how she became a Claymore, rather than being created from a yoma (it was only loosely alluded to in an earlier episode - that Claymores are the result of a mixing of yoma and human female, though I doubt that would have meant a sexual union of some sort).

Nope, don't think so. I'm intrigued as to how they create Claymore's though. Possibly they have to eat another claymore or perhaps a yoma's flesh? Maybe Clare had to eat Teresa's head? :ill:

The other interesting point is of the male awakened one since they also make a deal of that only women can become the hybrids. After seeing that guy at the end of 9, I'm suddenly having a vision of Raki ending up as an awakened one and Clare having to deal with him...

With regards to sudo, they're really top notch for quality of video and subs. 8)

Have you read the manga prequel? That explains it I guess, but her aunt's suggestion that time-leaping was some kind of inherent ability to girls contradicts the actual reason why Makoto could time-leap. Mildly irritating but nothing that breaks the film. I feel compelled to buy the manga to compare and contrast now.

male awakened one thing works out, although I'd suspected that Teresa was a part of Claire, the aura of strength thing and her request from Mr. Shades made it quite clear. There have been references before about the somewhat offputting nature of a Claymore's body, perhaps either the process (eating) a yoma disfigures them, or it may be that yoma flesh is literally grafted to them or something...

Damn, now I really want to see the next episode . Only five days to wait I suppose...

It's not that I'm going to watch anime continuously... I just like to watch one or two eps. in the evening, and with Shinsen failing to deliver Darker Than Black; Frothbite on Nodame Cantabile and Doremi on Sola... I intend to stick to my resolution not to switch fansubbers; but that doesn't mean I can't pick up another series .
