Most people seemed to have enjoyed Full Metal Alchemist (except for maybe Meh ^__^). Cowboy Bebop, Noir and Big O... what links them... hmm...

I dunno, beats me, I'll just go to my default setting and recommend Full Metal Panic!. Maybe you'd like to look into Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Rurouni Kenshin OVA as those have some action in 'em as well as character development and aren't too childish.

In other news, Hayate No Gotoku 9 is out. Go fetch?

Full Metal Alchemist is by Square Enix isnt it?

The manga published in a magazine owned by Square-Enix, but it's not 'by' them as such. Uhh, I'll back meh up on this one.

p.s. getting Dennou 2 now, cheers!

Yeah, they publish the manga through their Gangan Comics branch in Japan. It also produces the games.

Edit: Damn, imp was faster >_<;;.

Also: Hayate No Gotoku 9. Go go go!

Lorfarius, I enjoyed it too. But yeah usually at the mention of FMA in this thread, the thread itself goes downhill. Hmm... well I'd recommend Eureka Seven if you haven't already looked at it. Same studio behind it that was responsible for FMA and I believe some staff also worked on Cowboy Bebop. 50 episodes so it should last a while. Alternatively there's Twelve Kingdoms or Great Teacher Onizuka which are always worth a watch.

Currently watching the newer Guyver anime. On number 13 at the moment, it's pretty good stuff. It has reminded me to track down the first Guyver live action film. I've seen the 2nd one, with David Hayter, but never caught the first. Even though the 2nd is utter pish, I remember enjoying the action scenes.

I'm watching Tokyo Tribe 2 at the moment, which is the first anime I've come across that has a Ghostface verse in the soundtrack (and Raekwon and De La Soul and Prodigy and so on..). I've never read the manga and I watched the first few episodes out of novelty value more than anything else, but something about the characters and the sheer ridiculousness of it all is forcing me to carry on watching.

Does anybody like Full Metal Alchemist? I want a good series to tuck myself in. Just finished watching Cowboy Bebop, Noir and Big O. Enjoyed all three so would like something similar.

Samurai Champloo sounds like it'd be right up your street. The 3 series Zappster mentioned as well are also well worth a watch.

Bibly, stop arsing about and download lunar's sola already! You're missing out on some quality stuff by not getting it!

Eureka Seven gets my vote. Aces.

It's also very underrated.

It's my favourite, I completely  it.

The animation is superb, as is the art design for the characters and locations. The characters are really interesting and well fleshed out, the soundtrack is superb. The plots are interesting, mature and funny... I could go on, but I'm trying to play the DS one handed and type...

I've been watching Afro Samurai (caught the last two episodes) on On Demand Bravo and have really enjoyed it. Anyone else seen it?

I have it, I watched the first episode and didn't really like it, so I've left it alone for months. It really didn't belie its doujin heritage.

Just had a watch of the latest sola:

Crikey, that really is one possesive sister. Although at this stage I'm doubting she really is his sister unless they really are heading down the incest line. Thought it was a touch overdone with the dream sequence where Matsuri turns into stone and shatters but I'm very much looking forward to the next episode. Full out fighting hooray! Likelyhood of Aono stabbing/cutting/exploding Yorito in an attempt to get Matsuri: Very high! :)

Yep, suppose so. Are there ones that are a lot better then?

Not a lot better, IMO - Akira's one of the best anime films. Don't pay any attention to people trying to patronise you just because it's a mainstream choice.

You might like Jin-Roh or Metropolis next.

Is ghost in a shell good?

It's good. It's a bit on the ponderously philosophical side, and the main character is transformed from the funky gal in the Manga to a bit of a cold bitch - which is a shame, but the action delivers and it's technically impressive.

And Akira is great.
