Macross Plus is getting a "HD remastered" dvd release in Japan in August. In a similar style to the western set, it will have the ova's and movie version in the same box. There is also a ost and booklet. No idea if there will be a actual hd disc version, doesn't seem to have been announced. If it's truely "hd remastered", it must be coming at some point. The dvd is limited for 12 months it seems so maybe it will be out by the end of that run.

Looks like a new edition of the Evangelion complete box will be out in japan this year too, blatantly to promote the new movies projects especially as it has "advanced video" for them.

Got it. Will watch it soon.

Did anyone see the latest episode of Sola? Big fat WTF to the ending!

I would... except...

I want to but I can't watch it unless it's the high-quality version. I've been spoiled with it's awesome looks. ;)

That. I'm awaiting my fansub group of choice to put it out before partaking of it ;) .

In other news, watched the first ep. of Claymore (and the fourteenth of Nodame Cantabile incidentally), looks like Claymore is going to be added to the roster of 'new shows to watch'.

I watched the fourteenth last night too, I don't know whether to wait or go for the HG-F subs.... I really like the new ED theme, incidentally.

Lunar high quality is out, go fetch boy! Claymore starts off annoying but at the moment it's currently very awesome. Keep piling the series on Bibly! ;)

Go for HG-F. Despite the bad name, they're really decent quality subs plus they're faster so therefore better

Gurren Lagann, episode 8. Wowie zowie!

Wasn't it just?!

You could see it being set-up from the last ep but you never really believed they'd do it! Just an amazing all round ep.

Woah... Woah... Woah... Hold on there. Faster doesn't automatically equal better.

Well, for me it's relatively simple. I've got a few Claymore episodes to keep me going, so there's no rush to grab the rest of Nodame Cantabile quite yet, so long as they get round to it eventually.

^__^. And in the run up to my A-levels as well. Ah well, I've stopped gaming, and anime hardly takes up nearly as much time, so long as I watch in moderation :( .

HG-F don't have an irc channel do they? I've been trying out irc lately as opposed to torrents as a method of downloading. In any case, I may have to think about switching over if I run out of Claymore and have not much else to watch. Although even then I STILL haven't watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or The Place Promised in Our Early Days.

ANYWAY, back to Bismarck for now... ;)

I watched up to the fourth or fifth episode and thought it was fairly rubbish - does it get better than that? (the monster in the church

that was reptending to be a dead body

)

I did that for my exams this year as well. I ended up watching about 4-6 episodes of anime a day (on working days) and sometimes 12-8 on days off. Man I got through a lot of anime... um, hope you fare better than me with the self control!

Well, I'll admit this is true but in this case it can be safely said that HG-F's fansubs are pretty much on par with Froth-bite's.

You stopped just before the very episode it turns interesting. I think. If you haven't seen the conclusion of that "case" as it were, it'll be the one after that.

Got around to watching Sola 7:

Wow. Did not see that coming from anywhere. That's one jealous bitch of a "sister" he's got there to make him do something like that.

Also, since I'm franticallly trying not to study because I'm a work shy bastard, I finished of Ouran Host Club. Cheesy, very gay but god what a great series.

OMG. It's about time we had a new transfer of M+. Anything is better than the horrid DVDs out now.

Ah yes, good old Palm/Manga Entertainment's release of Macross Plus - with it's mis-labelled discs and 12-odd seconds long "Audio Gallery", to go with their set of the first release of Ghost in the Shell that had a time delay between the audio and video of nearly half a second, and Street Fighter 2 with a menu option that doesn't actually work. That, and they advertised an English dubbed version of M+ on sale on VHS on their website - only this was 2001, and it had been known for a long time that the movie would never be dubbed.

Cunts.

You forgot that the second version of GiTS was botched as well ;)

I'm sure Akira had issues too

From ICv2.com:

Anime Network Hits the U.K.

2-Hour Block on Sky TV

The Anime Network will receive exposure in the United Kingdom via Propeller TV, a Yorkshire-based channel broadcast via Sky TV (channel 195). A two-hour block that is slated to run on Sunday nights from 8 to 10 pm starting on June 3rd will feature adult-oriented anime that initially at least includes Neon Genesis Evangelion, Coyote Ragtime Show, Guyver: Bio-Boosted Armor, and Elfen Lied.

The Propeller TV anime block will be hosted by manga maven Emma Vieceli and T 4's Sci-Fi Guy Stuart Claw.

Anyone going to bother?

I bet it'll be dubbed and edited. :)

Tbh I can't see audiences really being ready for Elfen Lied. I mean, children massacring/getting dismembered etc?

That and NGE had a few bits of titillating (guffaw) viewing.

Haven't seen any of the others, any good?

I vaguely remember hearing some good things about Coyote Ragtime but I dunno about Guyver. As for Elfen Lied, they'll probably dub it and remove every single violent scene in it or something daft. Then the Daily Maill will see an episode and call for it to be banned, burned then urinated on by members of the army.

What would be left after they removed every single violent scene in Elfen Lied ;) . Seriously. It wouldn't be enough to even fill up ONE episode, surely... :)

In other news, I watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Delightful little tale I must say.

Did the daily mail ever see Puni Puni Poemy?!?!? :(

Probably for the best if they didn't. Regarding Anime Network, 2 of those shows are just shit, one is pratically an unknown and Eva has been done before (twice iirc). Some anime on tv thats not licensed by ADV would be good for a change, and we all know late night airings are really dumb for anime. It needs to be on across the day with suitable line ups for each timeframe, not shoehorned into one badly matched block

I thought it was wonderful, shame the version I downloaded had crap subs, they kept on disapppearing off the side of the screen, even in the smallest font size! I hope it gets a DVD release here.

And Hayate 8 was great, if, yes, a little wrong!

Go get the roxfan subs! Rubbish subs are such a drag :( .

I expect I'll be watching Hayate 8 later today... and I'm up to date with Claymore now, what a tale that's turning out to be...
