Where are you lot getting your anime from? PM me if you'd rather not post here. Most of the stuff I end up watching on youtube split up into parts (with the exception of Bleach)

It really depends on whether it's a 'current' anime (still being released) or something old/long-gone. Some of the less widely popular anime may be harder to locate, or have dead torrents. Anime-yume as Dandy pointed out is good in this situation.

Another week, another 3 series added to my download list leaving me with 27 weekly series now. Ho-hum.

Having a read through the haruhi manga currently and chortling like an idiot at the madness that's ensuing. I should really stop and have a peek at Darker than Black 5 though...

You can't hype it up enough  It was reading through your's and Tobal's comments on ntsc-uk that made me start watching it! It really is such a fantastic series. Makes me grin every single time. And to try and tempt Bibly into watching it, main male lead is voiced by none other than Sergeant Sagara Sousuke himself(different personality obviously mind)

Argh. Just talking about it is making me itch for the next episode.

Glad to know that my posts helped someone get into a show especially one like Nodame

Every time I get up to buy Fruits basket I remember what a cock up it is compared to the manga.

If you never want to find out what happens in the story, watch the anime and enjoy it, it's really good. But never read the manga as the anime will leave a bad taste in your mouth how the hell they got away with it (fingers crossed for a new series).

I will get it at some point but right now, I'm still waiting for the next manga (August I believe)

Yup, 17 August, 18 November. I've got to lay off Fruits Basket - I'm having dreams about it. It's become my secret shame.

That said, I love the anime tremendously and count it among my favourites. As you say, it's naffed compared to the manga, but Berserk is possibly a gazillion times worse

I'm watching the second season of School Rumble at the moment, it's alright, but not nearly as good as the first season.

Also, the first three dvds of Azumanga Daioh have arrived, I haven't watched them yet but man, what great packaging! they come with a 12 page booklet with translators notes and animation production art. Since there are so many notes, I'm hoping the translation will be quite faithful. I can't wait to watch the series again!

Need to find some time to watch Sola 5. I guess the exam period is slowing down Hayate, Darker than Black and stuff.

I'll get on Nodame Cantabile once my exam period is over, or when the series is finished I'll get a batch torrent (I like keeping to one group's subs, for consistency), sounds really great though!

I gave in and bought all of the Full Moon manga 'cos I couldn't be arsed to wait for all the DVDs to be released. I'm only two chapters in so far and wondered how the hell they could extrapolate the material from a seven volume manga into a 52 episode series. Is the anime filler-packed? Would it still be worth eventually picking it up after the manga (which I'm looooving so far)?

After watching the anime all I felt was "All it needed was the first 10 episodes and the last five". I truly can't remember what happened inbetween except for one or two rather general things... not one of my favourites that one...

You'd be better off with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya manga :P.

EDIT:

Oh, and :P at Nodame, 8 episodes in and loving it ^__^. I'll watch some Sola, Lucky Star and Hayate No Gotoku soon so I don't finish off what Nodame has been released too quickly.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya duly noted. That's my problem, I know bugger all about manga beyond my foray into Fruits Basket. Thanks for the advice.

I really recommend a film called Toki wa Kakeru Shoujo. (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time). It's really quite amazing with lots of really fun moments and bits of sadness.

Go watch :P

Just finished this. What a great movie. I don't even know what to say beyond it being greta. :P Thank you!

Anyone download much manga?

I had loads of Jojo bizarre adventure to read but deleted them in a desperate bid to free up some HD. Wonder if they are stil out there as torrents?

Possibly, maybe.

hum. finished school rumble season 2. Not as good as the first series, but it definitely had its moments, looking forward to the third term! Might read the manga now.

this week's hayate seemed to dip in quality a bit, too. Lucky Star was pretty funny though.

I was wondering, Mr. Jeff, if you could list your 27 weekly shows, or at least some of them, just to see what I'm missing out on!

The school rumble manga after season 2 really doesn't pick up much. I mean, obviously there's more progression but there's a distinct lack of the random insanity that made the first series do so well.

As for my list;

Bokurano

Claymore

Darker than Black

El Cazador de la Bruja

Gigantic Formula

Hayate no Gotoku

Heroic Age

Hitohira

Idolmaster Xenoglossia

Kaze no Stigma

Kiss Dum - Engage Planet

Lucky Star

Monster Princess

Moonlight Mile

Murder Princess

Nagasarete Airantou

Nodame Cantabile

Overdrive

Reideen

Romeo X Juliet

Seirei no Moribito

Shining Tears X Wind

Sisters of Wellber

Sola

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Terra e

The Skull Man

Touka Gettan

Then there's still Death Note and Hidamari Sketch. Out of that list, Hitohira and Sisters of Wellber haven't been subbed beyond the first episode annoyingly, Shining Tears X Wind and Touka Gettan I'll probably drop for being terrible and Murder Princess is a 6 piece ova with sporadic releases.

Aside from that, I've been reading a translation of the haruhi manga as i were. It's more like novels than manga but with the length of the stories in it, I'm not surprised the second series hasn't appeared yet. Absolutley fantastic stuff.

cheers! I didn't realise you were watching Nagasarete Airantou, I'm watching that as well, but I think I'll drop it, it's just not that funny in my opinion. I dunno why it was getting such hype. For some reason, the colour palette for the backgrounds really annoys me, it seems really bright, but really boring...

I downloaded the first volume of Haruhi manga, but just found the presentation of the story to be a little plain, I was expecting something a little more exuberent after watching the anime! And the art wasn't quite as good as Noizi Ito's original designs or the KyoAni (remarkably faithful) versions. Man I want a second series of that.

So, for future reference, which sub group is best for Nodame Cantabile? It sounds right up my alley.

Personally I'm using Froth-Bite despite them subbing it into mp4 format, they're the furthest along reliable subber on it at the moment. However, for the latest episodes, I've been using a group called...*ahem* Hard-Gay Fansubs(Don't ask) which despite the name are rather good at translating.

With regards to haruhi, I can't really comment on the art since the place I'm reading it from translates into walls of text rather than adding in the dialogue onto the original drawings but personally reading the story after the events which happen in the series, I think it's great. If they ever et round to animating it, it'll be superb. Well worth a read for some of the later and more involved stuff.I spent the first 4 hours of today grinning like a moron as I was reading through it.

Nagasarete Airantou isn't anything special really; just a typical harem comedy series but it's cheerful enough for it to stay on my list. I'm almost tempted to start up Lovely Complex again after I've been hearing so many good things about it but the first episode really didn't impress me much with the main characters.

I'll probably read Haruhi after exams then, just to see what happens! (at which point I'll die of exhaustion catching up with videogames, comics, anime and anything else geeky i've had to put off for, well, probably even geekier pursuits  it's going to be great).

Hmm, .mp4 fansubs don't sound too bad to me, I think those work on iPods... And I think I heard the sound quality is a little better (which must come in pretty handy for a musical anime!)

About Lovely Complex, I've kept on watching it, and while it isn't amazing, I found it quite likeable, mainly for the characters, actually...

edit: ooh, just found a place doing direct downloads of froth-bite Nodame! time to start stockpiling!

I'm watching the froth-bite Nodames too! Although I get fast enough downloads from their irc channel, would you mind linking me to the direct downloads anyway?

I just watched episode 10. Such a great show, if I'd watched it earlier I may've been more dedicated to my music. As it is it encourages me to play around a bit more when I do give the ol' piano a spin.

I've been enjoying Lovely Complex since the start tbh. It's not the greatest show around but it's enjoyable. To me it fits into the same categories as Hayate no Gotoku in that I've been enjoying both but the comedy doesn't quite work for me all the time. The first two eps of Hayate I thought did the trick but after that I've not really found them as funny, the only difference with Lovely Complex is that I've not found any bits from it to be as funny as some of the funniest bits from Hayate, although the recent development in episode 5 of LC did come mighty close :)

As for manga you really need to learn how to use IRC to download your stuff then go to #lurk on IRCHighway. That should cater to all your manga needs. There's loads of stuff on offer there

Tangentially Anime, but is anyone else very excited about the Maison Ikkoku live action show that's premiering in Japan today? I'm hoping someone will sub it :(

:(:D:(

Must...watch...this...

Mainly because I watched at least 50 eps of the anime but can't remember where I got to at all (it's been a good 18months - two years since I watched any I think), and I'm not starting again!

I just read something on the sos-dan wiki which I thought was quite clever

There are two date-related lines in episode 2; "In the process, we reached the first day after Golden Week." and "So that makes today Wednesday." Considering "the first day after Golden Week" is May 6th that is Wednesday, the year of the story is estimated as 2009, thus "Three years before" is 2006. The anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya became a big boom in 2006, and we actually saw the "information flare" caused by Haruhi Suzumiya on the net (like this page or Youtube, for example).

p.s. I can only find the first volume of the manga, is the rest of it scanlated yet?

Just finished watching the first 24 episodes of Yakitate. Could it be any more over the top? I dont think there was an episode where I wasnt laughing out loud. The judge for the competition was absolutely brilliant.
