Bokurano Ep2.

Let the carnage and endlessly sadistic story begin B)

What a great episode. Although

I'm already hating the emo kid with the glasses even before he nudged/pushed the other guy off the edge of the robot.

For some reason this seems like it's going to be a really depressing series.

No, honestly, I think plenty will back me up on this one.

Noir is SHIT.

Watch Haruhi. It's all you can do to save your soul, really, after watching all of that fucking horror.

I am so tempted to give FMP another go because of Bibly, I must say. Got about half-way through, and just felt BORED.

Aww, to be honest, if you don't like FMP! then there's always Fumoffu; and I have NEVER met a person who didn't enjoy Fumoffu. Just look at these testimonials :P. Maybe my love of the characters is clouding my judgement really...

Btw, I never watched Noir 'cos one of my friends told me it sucked, oh well (apparently he liked some of the songs though).

As if it needs another recommendation, but I concur :)

I really didn't like it either, and I saw it through to the end. I liked fumoffu a lot though.

Kanon I'm still enjoying a lot, but

man does Kyon Yuichi have friends with bad luck/are just plain mentally unstable. I'm at about episode 20 and now Ayu's gone all weird (dead?) too!

Well, at least this one liked Fumoffu ^_^ .

:);):P , if you'd seen AIR you'd understand that it's quite a common theme for all of the characters associated with the main one to be somewhat odd/weird/have issues. Although it's quite probably a commentary on how everyone is weird/messed up in some way, it's just not always so apparent.

Well at least I'm not alone judging by the above posts :).

Ryan there's always the novels for you to look into if you're interested. The story has progressed quite far past where the anime series has reached. I think they're being published in English (not sure about the UK though), and there are fan translations about.

Meh, if you're finding FMP boring, it's mostly likely down to the slow mech action scenes. If you're still trying to like it, give Fumoffu a go. Hardly any mech action but more humour to make it better.

If you still don't like it, you're just dead inside, no worries. :)

Aie, saw them. Where does the story follow on from the end of season two?

Or should I just download the lot and start from the beginning?

They provide extra padding to the story, but if you just want to continue on from where it left off you should look for:

"Odoru Very Merry Christmas " or My Dancing very Merry Christmas

"Tsuduku On My Own" or Continuing on My Own

"Moeru One Man Force" or Burning One Man Force (Still being released)

EDIT:

Dancing Very Merry Christmas is the novel which follows directly from the 2nd Raid series, which is then following by Continuing On My Own.

Both have translated into pdf format by a group called boku-tachi.

This is true, but boku-tachi have taken down their downloads now that it's been licensed.

Okay, I've been watching a lot of anime, taking time off revision this weekend. I finished Kanon and I'm 6 episodes into Air. I have to say, at the moment I think I prefer Kanon to Air, since the characters were better fleshed out (well, they had better explored back stories) and were generally more likable. It's a little unfair comparing a 13 episode series to a 24 episode series, but I think the pacing was a little bit better in Kanon, as in Air, the 'main events' seem to zip past, without leaving enough time to guage the impact of events before moving onto the next. I also feel that they don't give enough time to really get attached to the characters before they disappear. Although, I do like how in Air, everything seems to be connected by an overarching plot, I'm really quite enjoying it.

I guess the main reason why I really liked Kanon was the arc

where Makoto dies. Even though there was the silly fox story behind it, watching her steady physical and mental decline and Yuichi caring for her was really moving. The other part which I found quite moving was at the end, where Ayu comes out of her coma, and you see Yuichi pushing her in a wheelchair. The plot may have been reliant on ridiculous coincidences and amnesia, but I thought it was a really good programme.

I watched the first two Sola episodes between the aforementioned shows too, which also seems pretty interesting.

Thanks for the recommendation, Bibly, Mr. Jeff, anyone else if I forgot.

Out of all the arc's in Kanon I found that one the hardest hitting of them all.

It seemed to me that despite the equally tragic stuff with shiori and her fatal disease, somehow I knew it would work out whereas with the Makoto arc, despite wanting it to end on a cheerful note, it still ended in a terribley sad way.

I really liked Kanon in the end though, despite how they finished it.

Did you watch the first episode of Lovely Complex imp? Gotta say I'm not that impressed with it.

Oh yeah, I did! I totally forgot! I thought the episode was mildly enjoyable, the humour and plot seem quite obvious though, don't they. Apparently though, I'm inclined to watch at least four episodes of something before I completely give up on it. (I'm prepared to watch the fourth episode of Claymore to see how the story's going to pan out, despite not having enjoyed the previous three at all...) But, back on Lovely Complex, the tall girl's voice acting is reeeeally similar her voice actress' work in one piece... but, er, yeah, I'll probably watch a few more.

About Kanon:

Yeah, I know what you mean with Shiori, somehow I got the feeling it would be okay as well. At least the series as a whole ended on a cheerful note, I don't think I could've handled a proper sad ending! I'm guessing it was Mai who performed the miracle (resulting in her need to study to heal animals...)

Kyoto are apparently due to animate Clannad, another 'Key' visual novel this October. Fingers crossed for more Suzumiya Haruhi spring 2008 then

Anyway, I'm looking foward to watching Darker than Black 03 once it finishes downloading!

Clannad's scheduled for a 2008 release although there is however a Clannad movie for release this autumn but by a seperate company from Kyoto Animation (I think).

Nothing scheduled for autumn release by Kyoto as yet.

Despite my normal habit of giving every show a decent run before I judge it, I'll probably drop Lovely Complex. The characters and animation just irritated me for some reason. :(

Ahh, that's what I get for trusting Wikipedia! The Clannad movie's going to be done by Toei, the wiki page also said the series is coming october, but I'd like it if Kyoto did a different project before going back to the visual novel, just because I prefer their goofier stuff! Although I'm probably only saying that after watching so much of the stuff right now, I'd probably welcome it if it did air in october.

Aww :( .

You've only gone six episodes into AIR, right? You're right about the best bit of Kanon being where you pointed out, but AIR really culminates at the end...

Sola ftw! Looks like it might be my favourite of the current batch, although I haven't sampled Lovely Complex...

Darker Than Black and Hayate No Gotoku are also looking good... and there's always Lucky Star ;P.

So much for your "I'm not sure I want to watch another series like this" :(

Gutted it's only 13 episodes though. 13 episodes always feels too short. :(

I said that :(!? Like what?! Kanon?... well imho that was a let-down relative to AIR, so obviously I wasn't going to want another one of those... Or was I complaining about not having enough time to watch all of the current series? 'cos in that case the other ones will just have to make room :(.

13 episodes was good enough for AIR, so hopefully it'll be good enough for this  . But you're right about 13 usually seeming too short...

After swearing I'd never watch it after seeing the promo video, I gave Gurren Lagann a try and I have to admit, I like it. ^_^

Also, it's been confirmed that there's going to be a second series of Genshikken released in the autumn. Hurrah!

I don't know really. I watched the promo and just thought it looked a bit rubbish really. Just looked far too over the top for it's own good. But then I read a whole bunch of comments on other forums about how the majority of people liked or loved it so I gave it a bash. ^_^

Just finished Air today, I found the ending a little disappointing actually,

I know it sounds corny, but I quite wanted a 'proper' resolution to the story, not just the implication that it might be worked out in the next reincarnation. I mean, it doesn't really say what needed to be done to break the curse, and if Yukito's bloodline is necessary, then the reincarnations of kanna are kinda fucked since he never had a child before he 'died'. I dunno, I was expecting a nice resolution, mainly due to Kanon's nice ending and the fact that it's based on an H-game. I mean, what kind of ending to an H-game is that - 'sorry, no sex, the lead girls all left or died and you're now a crow' - not that I wanted an H-ending, I just wanted Misuzu and Yukito to live, really.

That said and done, it's just me whining because the show didn't go exactly how I hoped it would. I actually really liked the way the story recapped to focus on the relationship between Nyamo Misuzu's aunt and Misuzu. And I thought the first part of the special Air in Summer was really funny, it reminded me a lot of Fumoffu. I still liked it, I just couldn't connect with the characters as much as I could with Kanon, mainly in regard to Yukito, I found him somewhat charmless, compared to Yuuichi. Still, an enjoyable series, I think I might have liked it more if it was a bit longer, to give each story arc a bit more breathing space. I sound really negative.. but I did like it, honest!

Hayate no Gotoku 4 was funny! I'm liking the irreverence and fourth wall breaking more and more.
