Hayate no Gotoku I'm also undecided on, I thought that the narration was great (by Chiyo's dad!), and I loved the NGE reference, but there was little else to get excited about. I'll keep watcing though, now that the 'premise' episode is out the way. The censorship was also a little weird, but I did kind of like how they broke the fourth wall quite a lot to mention it.

I didn't get the reference  . Must've been something to do with the mech at the beginning, but it went right over my head, wherever it was ;_;.

I told you gayz GTO ends fucking rubbishly. The story's barely half-way told when the anime finishes. Grab the manga, innit.

Just got through finishing the manga and wow, does it finish a lot better than the anime. Miles better in fact. Meh was right again!!!1 :(

Love Hina

Galaxy Angel

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (watching the original Full Metal Panic is optional but suggested)

One Piece (beware: 300+ eps and counting)

Maison Ikkoku

Urusei Yatsura

Fruits Basket

Lupin III

GTO

I'll get back to you if you need more

Light hearted could be either romance or comedy, but doesn't have to be either in particular. As long as it's just a nice, feel good kinda show. The anime equivelent of this smiley: -_-

Never really gave you a definitive list did we? Sorry!

Along with Dandy's list:

Love Hina

Galaxy Angel

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (watching the original Full Metal Panic is optional but suggested)

One Piece (beware: 300+ eps and counting)

Maison Ikkoku

Urusei Yatsura

Fruits Basket

Lupin III

GTO

I'd add School Rumble, Ichigo Mashimaro, Chobits and Hidamari Sketch. The very last one is only about 5 episodes in but it's just :(

Does everyone here buy all this anime or download it? And if you download it, where from?

You all seem to watch looooooaoaaaaaads!

I've bought nothing in the last couple of years. But seeing as I spent about £1500 on anime dvds inside a year a few years back, I'm not exactly sorry about it. (moral of the story, dvdpacific, credit cards and lots of space=bad). As for where I download it, then I grab Naruto Shippuden and bleach direct from Dattebayo's own torrents, one piece from Kaizoku's own fansubs, some I;ve downloaded through usenet and I'm still downloading urusei yatsura from some boxtorrents torrents

I err, download all of my stuff. I don't object to buying the anime but I really have a problem with paying 20 pounds a shot for 3 episodes of anime. They seem to have a thing against box-sets :(

As for sites, I'm not entirely sure whether linking to the sites I use is allowed so I'l spoiler them

Boxtorrents has a large number of completed series in one torrent but you need to browse through the entire list to find one unless you're a member so I tend to use it in conjunction with isohunt which produces a list of all the anime with that name and generally has the boxtorrent links in there as well.

I use animesuki occasionally to look for new episodes of anime of series which haven't been licensed yet but by and large I use tokyotosho for all new anime releases.

I'm trying to PM you with a pic of the spoiler, but it's being really slow for some reason...

so, follow this link...

I don't remember that! :(-_-:(

Aproximately at what time in the episode was it?

Download, AnidB contains links to groups fansubbing anime.

Yeah, I do both as well. I only buy stuff I really really like though. I really hope The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gets a european release, I'm practically desperate to drop the cash for it.

A lot of good torrent sites have been mentioned already, but

baka-updates

is pretty good for keeping up with new releases. If you're ever in need of direct download for recent episodes of currently airing anime, then

national-anime

is a pretty decent place to go, you have to sign up (free, no need to verify email either), but it has a nice enough selection and is really fast until about 5pm, at which point it's merely okay.

Bibly: The EVA reference is right at the start when Hayate gets fired from his part time job, I just checked and it's at 7:20 in the SS-Eclipse sub.

I hope they do as well. And the Hare Hare Yukai cd as well. They're welcome to my money if they did that. :(

I spend about £50 - £100 a month mostly on R1 box sets. I also use lovefilm and watch stuff culled off youtube on my psp.

If you think anime is expensive these days then you clearly didn't buy Eva on vhs. £170 :(

Download from mininova/piratebay, then buy the good stuff once it's out on dvd from the US.

Figure the downloading is fair enough considering they charge us nearly as much for 2eps of a series as they do for an entire series in the US.

Oh, and downloading for some series is the only way to avoid some terrible dubbing and also not be years behind (I'm looking at you, One Piece and Naruto).

Just finished Fumoffu. What a fucking awesome series. Had me in stitches. I loved the parody of Gundam SEED with the hot springs episode as well.

Also, the first episode of Darker than Black has been released by a group called MaiWaifu. Despite the laughable name, the quality is really superb.

Excellent :(.

Thanks for the link!

Cheers for the darker than Black link Mr. Jeff! Hayate no Gotoku episode 2 is also subbed now, I haven't watched it yet, though.

I started watching FMP today... and I'm quite enjoying it so far :( except the music, is it meant to sound like the A-team? I much prefer the high school bits to the fighting, so I think I'm going to like Fumoffu, which I'm excited about...

I love both of them tbh. Without the serious side, i dont think the highschool bits would be as funny. The fighting is awesome, but of course i prefer the high school bits :(

dont read this unless you're past the Behemoth episode

Am I the only one who wants Tessa to end up with sousuke? Tessa owns Chidori

I agree, they go hand in hand. Sousuke wouldn't be as ridiculous if you couldn't see his other side to the extent you do. I can't agree over the spoiler matter, but it's better if nothing is "finalised" over the matter as it would mean changing the dynamics

I prefer Chidori. Mainly since her over-reacting to Souske's military habits tends to provide most of the comedy out of it.^_^

Also, even before the first episode has been subbed, I've becme addicted to the lucky star opening theme. It's been on repeat for about an hour. I'm such a sucker for cheesy j-pop. :(

I have to admit, I'm quite taken with the lucky star opening as well. I think it's a combination of how ridiculous it sounds, the great choreography and lush backgrounds that appeals to me. Also, I do love Hirano Aya's voice! I'm really excited about the show, I quite like the slow burning character comedy of yonkoma shows like Azumanga and Cromartie, so this should be interesting...

Also, I thought Hayate ep 2 was pretty good! Still not watched Darker than Black though.

Hehe, I'm with you on Hirano Aya :( It seems the studios are as well considering the masses of new anime she's in.

I was laughing at the other parodies in Hayate as well. Wonder if they'll have one in every episode. ^_^ As for Darker than Black, it seems a really interesting series. Reminds me a bit of Big O. The animation is top notch as well.

I'm surprised they didn't make a second series with a different set of classmates (but in the same school so we get the teachers stil)

I'm just as glad they didn't really. I can't see how they'd get a completely new set of characters with different personalities to work in it without them being compared to the first series.
