I've been catching up on Death note the last couple of days (I stopped when Toriyama's World stopped subbing it to wait for a regular group to do it again), and I find it really weird to watch now. Whenever I hear Light speak, I just think of him as Tamaki from Ouran or Riku from Tokimeki Memorial and now I think of Misa as Haruhi Suzumiya. Not that I should complain, they both do an ace job!

I couldn't believe when I read that so I had to go check and I was bloody stunned to find it is the same guy. I didn't get the link at all! I've even been sitting here for the past day talking to a friend on msn about all the links of people I've spotted in the anime we've both seen.

You're right about Misa though; can't think of her as anyone but Haruhi.

Animanda does fairly decent subs so use them to ge up to their latest one. However, they take a fecking dogs age to sub a new ep so I use kuro-hana subs for speed. There's a couple of typos but it's readable and most importantly, generally available on the day or day after it goes raw.

Lucky for you can go straight through all the recently poorish episodes up to the latest awesomeness.

I've just watched episode 24 and I'm still loving it, fair enough that you get most of the major twists near the beginning and there's certain element of really smart people playing dumb in some sections and being overly cautious in others - but it's still one of the best written things I've seen in ages and there's a part of me which wants to see Yagami Lights perfect future.

Xei, can we EVER meet up at a con? How many times have we missed each other now?

I am trying so hard to get excited about Amecon but it doesn't seem to be happening. I just know I am going to want to kill the people there!

Still...should be a laugh!

Been flying through the ole anime stockpile in attempt to clear some of it out of the way before the new season begins on the 4th. 3 series finished out of 63. Hmm

Just finished Noein after it was recommended to me about a year ago by a friend of mine. Amazing stuff this. Basically a mix of time travel, 12 year old kids and very descriptive quantum mechanics but it is bloody brilliant. The art's wonderful, the music's great ad the story if you can get your head round it, is pretty damn good.

Also finished off Otome wa Boku ni Koishteru which is utterly ridiculous and cheesy and quite obviously a chick series and yet I totally enjoyed it for being so utterly cheesy. Clearly I have a secret soft spot for stuff like this.

Next on my to finish list in the next few days in no particular order; Kanon, Ergo Proxy, Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, Utawarerumono and School Rumble 2nd Term. Oh and GTO.

Should keep me busy.

Edit: What kind of bloody ending is that for GTO?! That was RUBBISH! Built it up to a great ending and they let it dribble away like that. Bah. Still, the rest of the series was great.

Why? I was thinking of going if I could persuade some mates to come with. Outside of the internet I've never even met someone that you could describe as an anime fan so I'm totally clueless about conventions.

See my posts and those in agreement on the previous page. There's really not a lot else to it besides that.

I'll give it a miss then and spend the money saved on completing my patlabor collection. Captain Goto is a star. :D

Hoorah for Fumoffu, Kanon, School Rumble and GTO!

And about the GTO ending...

Yeah, I found it pretty rubbish too, all felt a bit rushed compared to some of the other 'arcs', however one of my friends insists that it was a fitting ending, showing how he moved on... I'm just sad he didn't get anywhere with Fuyutski-chan, oh well :D

I enjoyed School Rumble's second season... but quite a few people I know said it was vastly inferior to the first season, I maintain the first episode of the second season alone makes up for that at least partway :D .

Fumoffu... is just Fumoffu... which is win.

Kanon 2006 was a bit of a let-down for me, looked so pretty (AIR in the snow!) but I found AIR to be a much more compelling series, hope you enjoy it anyway!

I told you gayz GTO ends fucking rubbishly. The story's barely half-way told when the anime finishes. Grab the manga, innit.

GTO drama ftw

Fumoffu is the greatest pure comedy anime I've ever seen. I purposely made sure I was in charge of the Showing of the first two eps when it was shown at Aya. The reaction was deafening at the end of the bike/train sequence (for good reason)

I've been watching a bit more today as well. I've noticed another one - Mogi is Zoro from One Piece!

The title sequence after episode 20 though... huge WTF!!

Here's another one for you: the guy doing L's voice is the same one that does Usopp in One Piece and he's got a lot more roles under his belt.

I liked the second season of School Rumble. I think people may have found it less interesting than the first simply because I think there was more "serious" bits in it than I remeber the first one having. Still a fantasticly good series though.

Fumoffu is absolutely on my next to watch list after Mushi-shi. Promise :D

Kanon...I can see why it would be a let down:

Compared to Air, it was a lot more happy I think. I think it would have had more of the emotional impact if they'd actually let shiori, ayu and akkiko die like they were subtly hinting at. (A bit heartless I know). They way they ended it seemed designed to make everything happy again really. Not tha I'm complaining really since I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Also finished off Utawarerumono and Ergo Proxy. Utawarerumono was a fairly typical series in the end although it definitely went a bit Escaflowne in the end and to a certain extent, Trigun as well. Decent enough though.

Ergo Proxy I also enjoyed despite it doing it's very best to confuse me. I liked some of the stuff they put in the dialogue between Vince and some of the characters which really made you think. Not entirely sure I understood all of the ending though.

Anyone had a look at any of the new anime being released?

I'm pretty much caught up with Bleach now. I watched the Bount arc over a 10 day period as I dumped every ep between 64 and 118 onto my ps3. I want to catch up on One Piece before thinking about starting the next Bleach arc.

With one Piece I've watched a few eps on my psp lately, but psp files are retarded in their filenames as they are random numbers rather then logical filenames. It looks like I'll convert them to mp4 instead to watch on my ps3 though, so that will make it easier to watch. I think I'm upto 168 or so.

I've got Haruhi ready to watch, which I'll probably do in one sitting this weekend. 12 episodes is what, 4 hours ish so that should be easily done. I'm also looking to rewatch Galaxy Angel sometime soon and I have Fate/Stay Night somehwre too. 16gb of 44gb of Urusei Yatsura downloaded  That's going to take a while via torrent I tell you. 7 days left at current speeds (it's been going at least a week), but that does vary.

Eureka seven perhaps? Or you could give Ichigo Mashimaro a go. Very cute and funny. Or there's always school rumble if you haven't seen it. By light-hearted do you mean comedy based series or anything which isn't filled with constant death and depressing scenes?

Hello, anime fans. What would be a good light-hearted anime for me to watch? I've decided I don't like serious anime series that aren't Death Note.

Love Hina

Galaxy Angel

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (watching the original Full Metal Panic is optional but suggested)

One Piece (beware: 300+ eps and counting)

Maison Ikkoku

Urusei Yatsura

Fruits Basket

Lupin III

GTO

I'll get back to you if you need more

mmm, I was looking up Usopp's voice actor on wikipedia the other day because I recognised him in paradise kiss, and I noticed this. It makes sense, hearing it now, but if I hadn't read that I wouldn't have recognised him at all.

I finished watching Azumanga Daioh today....

now what am I supposed to do, revise?

Yeah, for School Rumble, I really do think it's a case of how interested you are in the characters, if you really are then the extra character development/seriousness is more enjoyable, for everyone else they just see a lack of comedy :P .

You had better watch Mushi-shi pretty darned fast, because you're missing out on so much by not watching Fumoffu

.

As for Kanon:

The happy ending really did feel rather contrived as you said, even with that said, I didn't feel as attached to the characters as much as with AIR. Nayuki's character wasn't developed as much as I would've hoped, and her arc seemed rather rushed compared to Mai's for example. I think I liked that part of the plot much more than the Nayuki/Ayu arc.

As for the upcoming anime, here's a link to them + synopses. I'm waiting on Darker than Black and Lucky Star, the former is produced by the same people as Ouran, FMA, RahXephon, Scrapped Princess, Cowboy Bebop. The later is done by Kyoto Animation <3, so FMP Fumoffu & 2nd Raid, AIR, Kanon, Suzumiya Haruhi...

It better all be top notch!

After Lucky Star Kyoto Animation will be doing Clannad (for those of you who watched Kanon there was a trailer for it at the end), and after THAT we might get a sequel to either The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya or Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid. Yay! There are certainly enough novels for both of those series to manufacture a few sequels....

OMG, Dandy Sephy just did some sort of anime knowledge punch to my unprepared brain.

:P

Well, I was in a list mood  As Mr jeff asked, could you define light hearted? Do you want touches of romance? Just easy going stuff, or stuff that will make you laugh out loud every 10 seconds? It will help a lot

Out of those my personal recommendations would be the Full Metal Panic series (of course :P), GTO and Fruits Basket.

ooh, thanks for the link, darker than black sounds interesting, and I'm positively excited about lucky star! can someone post a heads-up when these get fanusbbed? I'll check my usual haunts as well...

Well Darker than Black was released yesterday in raw form and judging by the interest in it, I don't think it'll be too long before it's subbed by someone. Lucky Star airs tomorrow and there's an equally large number of groups itching to get their hands on it, most prominently a.f.k which subbed Haruhi last year and were great at getting it done quickly.

As for myself, I'm downloading practically everything new that's being released this week and giving it a try to see how it is.

And Bibly, I finished Mushi-shi last night so it's Fumoffu time now. :P

Yay for group interest, it's always good to watch series at the same time as other people . Mr. Jeff pretty much sums up the subbing/release information.

Cool! Keep us posted on how all the new series turn out (I'm probably going to be relying on the testimony of others to tell me if I need to branch out into any other series).

And enjoy Fumoffu! :D
