And take Piglet with you.

Also, Rygar, have you noticed that it's the C64 owners with the chips of their shoulders?

We were happy to play our innovative, groundbreaking videogames, but the Commadore boys couldn't leave it alone, despite the fact that they'd get a few gaming scraps tossed their way from the Spectrum gaming industry (perhaps out of sympathy and usually 6 months to a year later).

They simply weren't happy, and between Spectrum conversions they would relieve their bordom by lashing out at us! And here we are, 20 years later and they are STILL going on about it.

Just let it go fellas!

Mostly very good previews, especially Kojima and Thief although the Chernobyl and Denmark articles didn't turn out too well. I like the fact that the previews are no longer always gushing, making it clear what looks good and what doesn't.

Don't think much to XNA from that article, and it looked like a quick replacement for an Xbox 2 cover was cobbled together. It was a bit sensational to elevate those of the cuff remarks about Kuratagi to the "end of the console wars". More interesting is the change of stance involving the XBox teams relations to the PC teams: (XBL integration etc.). We didn't see much sign that XNA amounts to a great deal. In corporate IT, MS are very good at turning internal restructurings into marketing hype. When the Internet and Java were causing Micorsoft soem trouble they rebadged a host of disparate technologies as "Microsoft DNA" and it meant precisely nothing. However, one of MS's strengths in thre corporate world is the quality of its development tools, and if this is reflected in the games world it will be a real draw for developers. It looked like Edge bought into some hype with that news story, though.

Another very good issue. Keep it up, TM.

As for the Edge issue, it was quite good. Could have used a tips booklet, though.

Yep, it's as if they are trying to convince themselves that the C64 is actually good just because they bought one. I mean, us Spectrum owners knew the Spectrum was good, but we didn't bleat on about it all the time, did we? We were like, "Yeah, whatever!!". They're always so full of anger, yeah?

Uncle Clive, M'Lud, members of the Jury. Here is the proof.

It seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

either way, Crash and zzap were a million times better than the stupid magazines forced upon the general public these days. and that's not nostalgia talking - I've been reading the scans of zzap off of the zzap site and it's still wicked.

Absolutely. I've been downloading Crash issues form WorldofSpectrum.org.

All proving to be a cracking read - something that I'm not finding as much with Your Sinclair, for example, or just about evey modern day videogames magazine.

I remember posting as 'Lloyd Mangram' on the old Edge forum, and I got a couple of posts going 'Wow!' and a PM saying thanks for the years of great reading.

They didn't know!

Ahh, it was alright. In a funky skill-o kind of way.

I quite like Sinclair User as well. I had the R@RE banned Crash mag with the pisstake supplement in.

My dad threw it away a few years back apparently.

Ah, the excitement on the day the new issue of Zzap was released. Pages and pages of reviews and features. It amazes me now to think just how much copy was actually in those mags from so few writers every month. They must have worked 20 hour days to get all the games played, reviewed, previewed etc.

Despite not owning a Speccy, I still read Crash - it was that good - and I maintain that the Crash/Zapp 3-man reviewing method is still the best for guiding the reader.

Modern mags are rubbish.

*sigh*

Although Edge and GamesTM are pretty good.

I was always a Gary Penn follower personally. His views usually coincided with mine.

It did indeed, and then Zzap!64 came along and improved the formula, which was then richly dashed to pieces by the shoddy Amtix!

Ah yes, Zzap!64...

I've got a truckload of those at home, gathering dust and building up value ;)

Any of you ass fuckers know of any online scan of Crash?? Zzap was to gay for me.

I remember butchering my entire collection of Crash mags one day, by slicing off the covers and stickin them to my wall. It was a wall 'o Crash.
