dan_tm
The date of the article is October 2003... I've searched the forum and I have not seen or heard about this anywhere else. I hate to tell you this confidentially but I'll have to swear you to secrecy now -- we're working on the next version of Xbox right now and we're working on Halo 2 and Halo 3, the two newest versions of the game. As far as I was aware Bungie said there was going to be no further sequels. I apologise in advance to everyone that already knew about this. V3zna
As far as I was aware Bungie said there was going to be no further sequels. That is similar to Nintendo saying that there would be no more Mario or Zelda games. Why would Bungie stop their franchise in its prime?

Number 28
Hmm...it's my understanding that many developers get signed up for sequels before they even finish their current game. It's very believable that Halo 3 would be on their to-do list.

Nintendo could say tomorrow, 'we will make a zelda game for the next nintendo console', but that wouldn't exactly be news, would it? he might has well have said, 'bears shit in woods'

ChrisN
I don't think they'd be making Halo 3 yet. What if Halo 2 is a flop?
Mike1812
They do need a killer app for Xbox 2 and if PD is delayed any longer it might have to be Halo
dan_tm
They do need a killer app for Xbox 2 Yes. I'm sure alot of people only bought an xbox to play Halo, but then discovered that it has other cool exclusive games. Just like when the PS2 was released in Japan, many people bought it just as a cheap DVD player. So they say. EDIT: Damn me not reading replies properly

Lucky Gonk
As far as I was aware Bungie said there was going to be no further sequels. If Bungie have the strength of mind to call it a day after Halo 2 then fair play to them, but I think they'll come under tremendous pressure to bang out a third installment. Halo is a fantastic game that has sold by the shed load; Halo 2 - regardless of whether it's any good - will do the same. Will Microsoft happily let the franchise die with Halo 2? I can't see it myself; not when there's so much money to be made. Microsoft will also want a killer app - preferably an FPS - to coincide with the release of Xbox 2 but I can't see where it's going to come from. I'd like to believe that Rare will get their act together with Perfect Dark 0, but I don't think it'll happen.
