Lost - The Full Series Thread

So why did it "mangle" the pilot. And why just him? And why did the guy get obsessed with the numbers and then get bad luck. And why did Hurley get bad luck with them?

And why did it try to take Locke, and why hasn't it tried since?

Why why why!

Tonights ep synopsis from ABC

Wednesday, April 5 at 9/8c

"Dave"

Libby lends Hurley support when he begins to think the island is having a strange effect on him, and Locke's sense of purpose is shaken when the prisoner provides new information about the hatch.

Pretty good episode, nice twist with Libby at the end. It's getting to the stage in the series where they will need to start setting up the climax now, as per the hatch in season one. This giant magnet / core thing seems to be important some how...

Might Hurley not have won the lottery? I have always thought that was going to be the hardest thing for the writers to EVER come up with any explanation for, him using the numbers to win. But maybe they are going to ask questions about how much of Hurleys former life was real and how much was fantasy, in a later episode. I can't remember if we even know why he was in the hospital to start with do we? Maybe he was a proper nut case before he was on the island, and the nanobots have straightened him out?

I like the way the writers are slyly answering the wags who come up with questions like "Why hasn't the fat guy lost any weight?" over and over on internet mesage boards.

The guy in the hatch... I'm getting so frustrated with the way they are dragging the island storyline out. The formula is getting too transparent... We get one or two snippets of new information about what is going on in each episode. Its ok when the episode has an engaging backstory to keep you watching anyway, but when it doesn't, you get a sub-par episode.

Well in this episode, Hurley was talking to the doctor about the accident he was involved in, so I was assuming things happened exactly like that - He was in an overloaded, boat there was an accident, some people died, and so Hurley blamed himself and went crazy and was put in the hospital. I think that's just the reason he was in there. What "Dave" was telling him about never leaving was false because Dave was lying/didn't exist. So I assume everything in previous flashbacks was true - Hurley realised Dave wasn't real, got out, had that job, won the lottery then crashed on the island. Winning the lottery with the numbers sounds unbelievable but I've seen no reason so far for that to be imagined and everything else be real, so I'm gonna assume it's real too for now.

Check the preview for next week - Henry should be dealt with hopefully.

So if she was at the asylum with Hurley, then what? Anything? Nothing? Or will they simply forget about it all as if it never happened. Again.

It's just *another* example of people on the island crossing paths in their flashbacks. It's going to be aaaages before they explain that one.

Great episode,

even if the whole imaginary friend thing could be seen coming a mile off.

It's funny as just this afternoon, a mate and I were joking about Libby being in the nut house and the psychiatric advice she gave a few eps ago being a load of waffle.

I like how the writers toy with some of the suggestions put up on forums – hurley's lake of weight loss, is it all a dream?, the numbers linking everything together.

The stuff with the fake Henry is getting really interesting now, especially when he mentioned that 'Zeke' is essentially small fries to the person pulling the strings.

What was the point of Sayid bollocking 'Henry' in the locker for so long, trying to get him to admit he is an other, then when Henry finally says something that proves he at least knows something, by starting to rant about "him", immediately freaks out and runs off and doesn't ask him anything else about it?

Arrg. I know these things shouldn't annoy me about Lost any more...

Yep, I really enjoyed that episode. Even though we're just getting twist after twist after twist and no answers to anything. At least it's all reasonably entertaining so far.

I'm also staying very far away from all the forums which have sprung up and which are populated by absolute head cases who dissect every minute of the show every week. Would totally suck the fun out of watching the show for me. When it comes to mystery shows/movies, I love being taken for a ride.

Another strong episode.

So Henry's an other, Libby's a nutbar and everyone knows about Henry's existence. Still, very little happened in the episode, but it felt like more than what we usually get.

It really feels like they're giving us less this season, but then again I watched all of season 1 after downloading it over a few days, so who knows... I'm really looking forward to the end of the season now, purely for a bit of closure.

I have to agree, it was another one of those episodes that failed to really move along the main plot which is always annoying. But luckily Hurley is a great character so his back stories are always good to watch. I'm glad that they've played the "none of this is real" card already, otherwise it would have really pissed me off if that's how they decided to end it all. The bit with Libby at the end is a little unnerving though, just like all the coincidences and numbers are.

I'll be amazed if all these questions ever get answered by the end. As long as they don't wimp out and just say none of this was real, I'll be happy. The way Henry seems to genuinely fear the Others more than he does his captures is good though. I just hope the show steps up a gear as we lead towards the series end.

Libby clearly saw Hurley win the lottery on TV and remembered him from the nut house.

There's no other explanation.

Aye. She seemed properly wacked out in there though- it's a wonder Hurley doesn't remember her more but it's pretty obvious with how much she wants Hurley's cock.

Libby flashback episode soon? We've only really had a Eko episode from that lot and it would eleviate wearing down other characters backgrounds unnessasarily.

Did anyone ever mention the tail-ender with the short dark hair who went missing just before Anna-Lucia shot Shannon? Or did I miss something there?
