Lost - The Full Series Thread

The flashbacks have already fulfilled their purpose in terms of informing us on the characters. Sneaking in random references to other characters doesn't give them meaning. They can still fulfill an important purpose however. They reenforce the story of the week on the island with their general themes (Locke's enthusiasm to trust people, Sawyer's self-loathing etc..). They also serve to remind the viewer that there is still a world out there. This isn't just a mysterious island. It's a mysterious group of people on a freaky island in a mad world.

True and I agree about their purpose. I'm just thinking ahead, say there's a fourth season for example. Can the flashbacks really continue in their current guise? I'm not so sure they can. I mean this is all purely hypothetical, but I'm wondering just how much left there is to learn about the character's backgrounds in comparison to what's left to learn on the island. Still, I suppose with just one or two flashback episodes for each character each season it might all work out. We'll see. I just know for that for me, no matter how relevant to the theme of each episode, the flashbacks this season have been far less interesting than the last.

Yeah last ep was really good, but they havent got many episodes left to go.. i hope they start revealing a lot more stuff.

Even if Lost has five series, we have only found one hatch yet - if there is another 5 to find, they better hurry up!!

Im just worried it will get cancelled halfway through a season and we will never know..

They've found 3 so far, the swan that we know and love, the tailes found the arrow (with the bible, eye and film piece), and kate/claire found the medical/caduceus hatch.

So 3 to go, and presumably the others have at least one of those.

yes but was the medical place a hatch? I wasnt really sure.. it just seemed like a underground hospital.. same with the other place.

Hmm yeah i guess that could mean 3 then.

Also: I would like it if back storys for Jack and Charlie would now stop. I am bored of there back storys. I also feel that Jin and Suns story should also stop now.

I thought it was that the six bunkers were all directed towards something at the centre of the island.

Ah yes. Seems more likely.

Christ, there is just so much mroe that needs to be explained it's mind blowing. Only 5 seasons? Shit, they better explain everything properly. From just what is the deal with Kates baby, to how the guy that tended to Jacks ankle while running in the stadium turned out to be the guy running things in the first bunker.

We desperately need Mike and Walt to come back properly, Desmond and all. Assuming he's not lying, I'd like to see Des crash on the island in a flashback.

Desmond needs a flashback, even though he told them how it happened. If they got really stuck they could do the French Woman's story.

Also, where the hell is Michael? If the Others have managed to avoid being seen by Michael so far, surely he would have found his way round the island and back to the camp by now. It doesn't seem all that big.

He'll come back all sweaty and looking like Commando in the final episode. He'll know tons of shit but won't tell anyone because they'll be some sort of urgent issue like joining Jack's shitty army for a war against some actors with fake beards.

Kates baby...Claires baby?

Desmond went on the round the world race he talked about, crashed on the island, met Kelvin who told him about the hatch before dying.

Yes, Claire

Looks like Lost isn't going the 24 route of scheduling. Rather we'll get even longer breaks but longer runs of new episodes, should this idea go through..

------------------

'Lost' producers lobby for scheduling change

Tuesday, April 4 2006, 20:50 BST - by Neil Wilkes

The producers of Lost are seeking a new scheduling model for the show in the US to curb the frequency of repeats.

Most US series, including Lost, typically air 22 new episodes each season over a period of 36 weeks, meaning that new episodes are often punctuated with repeats of old episodes.

US Lost fans have complained that having to wait many weeks for a new episode has ruined their enjoyment of the show.

24 has successfully avoided the problem by delaying its return from September to January each year before airing its full season without interruption.

Although Lost's broadcaster, ABC, is unwilling to adopt a similar strategy, show producers have come up with a compromise solution.

"We're lobbying ABC for when the show is on, it's on, and when it's off, it's off," exec producer Damon Lindelof told E! Online. "So, we want to air it in three acts next year. You know, blocks of seven, seven and eight. But in order to do that, we have to roll the show out in October instead of September, and hopefully that will work out."

That makes a bit more sense. But are they going to write in favour of a soppy episode before the breaks?

It might be a bit silly, but the last episode followed by a month off? Urgh.

Really looking forward to tommorow nights- purely because I've been wanting a Hurley episode since the last ace one. It was as exciting as the episode itself, might also explain some things about that tail end chick wanting his cock?

There's definitely something weird about her. No offence to Hurley, I love him, but she's definitely looking for a way into the group through him, the question is why, I don't think she's an other.

For those who have managed to hold off from watching the new series, it starts on 2nd May.

Info pinched from The DVD Forums:

"Lost Season 2 will start on Tuesday May 2nd 2006 on C4 @ 10PM.

The next episode will follow on E4 @ 11PM

C4 had originally planned to air it in July after DH finished... so they have moved it to Tuesday nights... to enable it to be brought forward.

Info just up @ Digital Spy."

Am a little confused about the last episode. Were there two balloons then? What was the second balloon all about!?

There wasn't two balloons, rather one balloon and one parachute with a food parcel.

I assume the parachute is how supplies are dropped in, I'm guessing for The Others rather than Desmond (he never left the hatch until Jack, Locke and Co found him).

I still want to know what the fuck ate the pilot and why it hasn't come back to eat more people.

Oh and don't even get me started on the numbers! Why are they cropping up everywhere, why did the French girl know them, and Hurley, and whoever else (even before the island.. and what's happened to Hurley's bad luck? Don't tell me that was all coincidence).

Oh and what are the others really capable of? One minute one of them can drag off two people hardly leaving a trace, and then hang one from a tree. They could come kidnap people quickly and easily, knew the jungle like motherfuckers yet one (possibly) fell into the French girls trap?

And what is making Locke walk? NANOBOTS?! And what tried to drag him into a hole?

How could Walt appear, talk real quiet BACKWARDS and then disappear? I mean, why would he do that?

the pilot wasnt eaten, he was mangled by the security system that is supposed to give the illusion of a giant monster but that is actually nothing as we have seen.

french girl knew the numbers because they were being broadcast from the island, from the same place the crazy guy hurley heard them off heard the broadcast from, she then replaced the broadcast with her won.

if henry really is an other he clearly let himself be captured by danielle

in the episode where the security system tries to drag locke into the whole you see its just something tied round his ankle dragging him.
