How much would you pay for Edge?

Edge is the most well written and interesting games magazine that I read on a regular basis.....and it's a multi format magazine ! Trust me. Coming from someone who isn't really interested in playing console games, that's a very revealing comment.

Edge got me into console gaming again. I hadn't bothered with non-PC stuff since the Megadrive (and a tiny bit of Saturn) days. I'd obviously had the odd Tekken 3 bash and I did love Parappa on PS but Edge made me realise that there was a fair bit to be interested in and having got myself a DC I needed some guidance so as not to get lumbered with shovelware. You don't have to take what they say as gospel but it IS nice to read a well written, nicely designed mag amidst a sea of absolute dross.

I'm sure I've made this point before but there it goes again.

Edge used to be an arrogant organ but it did carve a name for itself. Now, after the staff walkout it is still as arrogant but can lay no claim to this arrogance as it's a bunch of jobbers who are running the boat.

But tony mott is editor, he started it all didnt he?

I like edge alot, the writing puts most other magazines to shame (not just computer games one either).

I was reading empire the other day and coould believe how shite it was, they really hype things up, i like the way edge dont do this.

Games TM really isnt a patch on edge, i get bored half way thru their articles becuase they are quite badly written.

Sad when you see the edge staff on tv, they look, well , a bit wierd.

As the last 3-4 issues were in my opinion a very poor show indeed, my subscription did not get renewed for the first time since the magazine's launch. I went from reading the magazine cover-to-cover as soon as it arrived, to merely scanning through a couple of articles, and then stuffing it in the loft.

I get better written, more informative, more up-to-date gaming journalism from this forum, and the news groups.

The money I saved on my Edge subscription I used to order a Live Starter Pack. Better value and more fun for the year.
