Out of curiosity I played a bit of the original Dead Space last night - that however was very hard to go back to after the remake. The visual overhaul for that game actually seems far more atmospheric than the original now, despite the huge change in colour palette.

Quality of life changes to this like the controls and how the map works also help.

It's very much like Metroid Prime Remastered in how it was done I think.

Much as you could argue the same happened with Shadow of the Collosus, I found when playing that on the other hand that it felt like some of the soul was lost somewhere, so where some ground up remakes will just work well like the above, it's a very fine line, and for some people it can end up "feeling" wrong anyway.

My beef with Dead Space Remake is that the new changes to the game kinda ruined the pacing and it felt far more arduous to get through.

I’ve replayed DS1 recently (last few years) and much preferred it in its original state.

I did find the original was vastly easier in comparison - that was one aspect about the remake I felt was a bit unbalanced as there were section that seemed to have been redesigned just to annoy you.

What about something like the Pokémon remakes? I guess most people would agree the Fire Red/Heart Gold remakes are better to play, but there is something about the original sprites (especially for Gen 1) that still makes the original games more special to me to play.
