The Last of Us PC (performance / bugs chat)

Thought it might be worth creating such a thread to avoid dominating the other one with talk about how long it's taking to compile shaders. I don't even own the game on PC, and I probably won't until it goes on sale (as I've played it already on PS3 and PS4) but I still want to discuss the funny bugs and stuff:

It was a tense situation

That's ridiculous

PC gaming becoming the worst multiplatform format for new console games feels like we're going back to 1997, but without the Doom clones.

Oh wait no, we have those again too.

There are always exceptions that prove the rule.

True there was cyberpunk too!

Tbh joking aside, I think we get a bit rose tinted not too long ago, esp around the 360 era, we used to have truly absolutely awful dogshit ports. Dark Souls 1 LOL wtf, the OG Res Evil 4, Games for Windows Live PUKE

As someone who genuinely does 95 percent of my gaming on PC despite owning the usual PS5/Switch etc, aside from stutter issues on a few titles which are fixed with pre loading them, it really is an overall good state compared to whats come before. Not perfect, but pretty good. Esp as the games cost around half as much at times. I buy all my games on PC for the most part because pretty much all of the time, they are the best version, esp after a few patches. And guess what, we have modders that fix things! Good luck with that elsewhere!

Do we really need another thread, the game is older than I am. Surely it’s a given that people are going to talk about the PC version on the week it comes out.

First of all, what's our policy regarding nine year olds posting on the forum?

I just thought some new players (given there's never been a way to play it on anything other than Sony consoles before this) might prefer it if discussion in that thread continued to focus on the story and gameplay. I think there's been threads dedicated to PC ports on launch before, to discuss issues and fixes and such, they normally get buried once there's less stuff like that to talk about.

I get that it's annoying for a new multiformat release. But 99% of the new players you're worried about will be playing the just-released PC version and hitting these issues head-on. If we can manage with a single Hogwarts thread, I can think we manage a few Johnny-come-lately PC nerds in the thread I created 12 years ago (Jesus Christ!)

Maybe you and this guy can have a bumfight down a local Asda car park, while everyone else just carries on doing what they want?

Is this done by  Iron Galaxy Studios then? According to Steam comments it is.

I read an article that it was all handled directly by Naughty Dog?

Iron Galaxy also worked on Metroid Prime Remastered, so I refuse to believe they would be responsible for this shit. It seems like it was Naughty Dog in house but with "assistance" from them. So maybe the port process was starting to go pear shaped so they had to call in another studio to help. Given the crunch culture at Naughty Dog, who knows what happened.
