Football Kits 2023/24

Has anybody started this yet?   I just saw on the Premier League website that they are changing the font of the names and numbers so that seems like a good excuse to fire up the new thread:

The new ones are not a million miles from the previous ones, the brief seems to have been to make them more legible (so the letters/numbers are 10% bigger and the spacing between the letters is bigger too) but I love the unified identity of the Premier League when all the clubs have the same font. It was a bit of a cluster fuck in the 90s where every manufacturer used their own.

Amazingly there hasn't been a leak of next year's Spurs kit yet, otherwise I would have :D

Note that they do still use the manufacturer's own when playing in any other competition, though.

Liverpool's new home is, unsurprisingly, red. Looks to be a modern version of the 60/70s shirts with a round collar.

The latest away kit that's been leaked looks to be a rehash of the Spice Boys-era green and white kit, perhaps best known for being worn during one of the most dreary FA Cup finals ever played. It's not awful, but wish it was just plain white, with a red trim. Black shorts, white socks to complete the look for a classic Liverpool away. Then do something out-there with the third kit. Purples, oranges, yellows and neon pinks, all that shit, to produce something that would give Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen nightmares.

Yep. And then we end up with that awful calculator font Puma did for Manchester City last year. 🤮

Someone at Nike found a "Shapes/Textures" folder they're really into.

The Lionesses’ kits have been consistently better than the men’s in recent years. Guess the more successful team deserves the better gear though.

Also, not overlooking the significance of the blue shorts. It’s frankly a disgrace it’s taken so long for sportswear to be designed to make women feel more comfortable, but at least the conversation is finally mainstream and some common sense is being applied.

Didn't FIFA mandate that the (men's at least) kits had to have same colour shirts and shorts fairly recently, at least in tournaments? It'd be just like them to mess this one up.

They tried to impose it about ten years ago (ahead of the Brazil world cup) but nobody listened because it was such a shit idea, so it's either been scrapped as a rule entirely or is now just a 'suggestion' that is in no way enforced.

No, they didn't regulate that the shirts and shorts had to be the same colour, but they had to be the same "contrast" e.g. both light colours or both dark colours, which is why normally England's home blue shorts aren't worn in recent World Cups (because it's a dark colour in contrast to their white shirts).  It's been like that since 2014 at least.

Rumoured Liverpool 3rd. A purple to match this season‘s bruised egos. Although I’m sure it won’t be called purple but dynamic amethyst infused with crushed lilac or some shite.
