I’m expecting to be underwhelmed by this. But if you haven’t played Walkabout Mini Golf, prepare to be overwhelmed. I’m expecting that to be in the show.

I keep seeing people mention Walkabout Mini Golf. What’s the big deal? (Interested! Love Everybody’s Golf generally)

It’s like playing actual mini golf, but on courses that could (mostly) never exist in real life. The sense of presence is incredible, the ball physics are on point, and it’s one of the best multiplayer experiences of all time. Play a round while having a chat with a friend. It’s such a relaxing and fun game, with the competitive element of trying to beat your opponent!

Does it have online/could we get a muk lobby going?

It has online and cross-platform (ie. Quest, PC VR and soon PS VR2) play for up to 8 players. Would probably be better to limit the numbers to 4, though - an 8 player round could take a very long time as you don't putt simultaneously.

Metal Gear Solid Remake inc. VR Mode

Shenmue Trilogy VR edition

Half Life: Alyx

Astro Bot 2, inc. free download of Astro Bot 1 update for preorders

Mario Kart 9 VR w/ cross play w/ Switch 2

All confirmed by my online friend’s brother in Tokyo.

One of the VR games will be that Rez successor you want where every stage is its own Area X. I wish.

Failing that, how about literally anything on Enhance Games’ Humanity thing?

Long shot: FFXVI demo drop. Either "available to download now" or a not-too-distant date for the demo's release.

I'm sure there were reports about Yoshida saying that a demo was planned for "a few months before" the game's June 22 release.

I reckon we'll get at least one 'realistic sword fight game', 'simple graphics strange game that I have no idea of genre' and hopefully, hopefully a couple of big hitters - I'm praying to the VR gods for GTA and Battlefield 2042 (it's good now, alright so don't be coming at me). Oh and Hideo Walking Simulator - that'd be sweet.

Something Astrobot related would probably be the safest bet along with what RE4 VR mode actually is (seeing as Capcom chose yesterday to tweet about it). I'm now thinking it's the full game in VR due to the wording in that tweet.

Sony need to invest in compelling VR software if that want to sell as many PSVR2's as they obviously think they can - and relying on indie VR titles is going to relegate it to bargain bins pretty quickly. So I think their must be some AAA+ VR titles that we don't know about.

Also Sony need big VR titles and Half Life Alyx would be an easy win, and potentially a way of that game reaching a wider audience. The stumbling block is Valve and whether they want to support a rival system - but that never seems have stopped them in the past.

Depends on how 'all in' Sony is going with the hardware. If it's only doing half measures, then there may not be a load of first party stuff coming along. It became obvious pretty early on in the life of the original PSVR that Sony wasn't that invested in doing what was necessary to make it a bigger success, and there may be a side of the business that is still cautious following the failure of first party games like Rigs. I personally think Sony should do everything possible to make PS VR2 a success, but it'll be up to the confidence and the riskness-willing of the people holding the purse strings.

I honestly don't think Half Life Alyx matters much. I understand why everyone wants it there, and it would obviously be great for the platform. So hopefully it arrives. But it won't really change much in terms of success.

The real challenge for Sony is making sure that there is a continual stream of titles for the platform. These can be dedicated titles or high quality modes in other big titles. People hugely respect Sony's first/second party output and rightly so, but I don't think they've shown that around PSVR outside of release. It gets a little back seated afterwards. They need it to feel like their non-VR release schedule which people don't seem to talk about being empty the way they do continually with MS and Nintendo.

I guess part of the challenge is maybe engaging your existing non-VR developers in doing (good) VR modes. Or getting them working alongside a dedicated and experienced VR team.

I’ve not played Alyx but Horizon is ticking a lot of the boxes that impressed me with it at the time. Which is fun and all, but I still can’t get over the clarity of the image in simpler games like Tetris or in Cinematic mode.

I'm keen to hear what London Studio (Blood & Truth) have been working on. I'm not necessarily desperate for a direct sequel but that, along with Astro Bot were two of my favourite games last gen, so I'd love to hear more from both of the teams behind them.

I think they’d be all for it. Valve seem to share quite a healthy relationship with Sony, and Spider-Man is somewhat of a flagship title for Steam Deck.
