Guys, we can’t address the Saudi issue until we go back in time and correct the mistakes of the British Empire.

Excellent. On the way we can stop off and kill baby Hitler.

There is a major issue right now of western nations using “woke” issues to keep competition from the east down.

Y’all not bothered about boycotting Nintendo and Sony for allegedly benefiting from Chinese slavery of the ughur people but big bad brown Saudi owning a few shares suddenly causes a massive moral dilemma.

Yes, comparing the awful and cruel exploits of the British & Japanese Empires from (at least) 70+ years ago is definitely a reason nobody should dare comment about what the Saudi regime is doing right now.

The whataboutery of saying that because the British empire is evil then it’s fine to support the Saudi’s is dumb, but nowhere near as dumb as pretending that all the brutal violence our government has inflicted on the world ended 70 years ago. The British government inflicts violence across the globe, and the fact that we’re not doing it as badly to our own citizens isn’t an excuse.
