JJ Barrie - No Change

You'd probably know it if you heard it.  It's sick inducingly twee.

Two days later and it is knocked off the top by the legendary Wurzels with Combine Harvester.  Looking at all the number 1s that year, it wasn't a great year for UK Singles. I was convinced before looking this up that it was someone like The Sex Pistols but that came out a year later.  I had my 1st birthday on the same day as the Silver Jubillee so that's probably why I got confused.

Telegram Sam by T Rex. Can't really complain about that.

Just looking at that week's chart, it's choc full of total class:

29 - Theme From Shaft by Isaac Hayes

22 - If You Really Love Me by Stevie Wonder

20 - The Persuaders theme by John Barry

15 - Family Affair by Sly and the Family Stone

9 - Let's Stay Together by Al Green

4 - Horse With No Name by America

Lots of other fun stuff like Brand New Key by Melanie and Son Of My Father by Chicory Tip too.

In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry. Yes I am very old.

I got the musically terrifying (and lyrically even more terrifying) ‘Baby Jump’ by Mungo Jerry.

It had just pushed George Harrison’s ‘My Sweet Lord’ off the top spot. ‘Sweet Caroline’ had also just appeared in the Top 10.

The Tide Is High by Blondie for me. I like Blondie, but this isn't one of their best.

The rest of the top ten:

2 - Super Trouper - ABBA

3 - Woman In Love - Barbra Streisand

4 - I Could Be So Good For You - Dennis Waterman

5 - Fashion - David Bowie

6 - Never Knew Love Like This Before - Stephanie Mills

7 - Special Brew - Bad Manners

8 - Dog Eat Dog - Adam & The Ants

9 - Enola Gay - OMD

10 - What You're Proposing - Status Quo

A few bangers there!
