Number one on your date of birth

This came up on my twitter feed, so was almost certainly phishing, but it did lead me to discover that mine was Amazing Grace by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, which is ace, because I love a bit of bagpipe. Despite that it's quite dreary though. (This needs revisiting, you could rock the hell out of this song.)

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger.

Very apt given my pure love of boxing.

Early days obviously, but that's a corker, and puts you in the lead, I think. Might be hard to beat.

I had a certificate from Bisto that had all kinds of information about my birthday. It said that "China in your hand" by T'pau was number one on my birthday. I believed it for years! I've just found out today that that song didn't come out until October. How could the gravy kids lie to me?!

Anyway, the song that was #1 on my birthday was "nothings gonna stop us now" by starship.

I'll be the back marker with Billy Connolly's novelty hit "D.I.V.O.R.C.E".

Missed out on Space Oddity by a whisker.

EDIT: hang on, Official UK Charts website says it's Bohemian Rhapsody. Think I'd rather have Billy Connolly, tbh.

Is this a poorly disguised attempt to find out how old everyone is?

The official charts website is pretty awesome and full of interesting data if you have a play.  Combine it with Spotify or similar to find out what all those songs you can't remember sounds like, looking at years when you followed the charts for hours of fun.  Also, stick your DOB in and get the chart for that week:

I think I win this thread too.  When I found this out about 15 years ago, I downloaded it to my phone and used it as my alarm clock for about 5 years.

Tight Fit - The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I remember mine being something awful but couldn’t remember what. I just looked it up again - it was The Lion Sleeps Tonight by Tight Fit.

@robdood - that is a great top 10!

If I was listening to music and in my chart listening days when I was born, I'd have been secretly willing Run To The Hills to be higher up, and have that accepting feeling of disappointment and knowing as the DJ announced "and moving up to number 7, we have...." and the intro kicks in.

I'd also be secretly happy that Toni Basil made it to 2. Of course nowadays, that Tony Basil song is amazing, I'd openly admit it ;)

officialcharts.com says Chaka Khan - "I Feel For You"?

I'll take that. The hook for the chorus is nice and I keep going back to the instrumental for my Rave.DJ creations :D

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Weirdly, on that date, two different versions of Let's Twist Again were in the charts at No. 9 and No. 14.

Presumably it's something like Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers releasing it, and it growing in popularity, and Chubby Checker's management / commercial rights holders seeing, or predicting the popularity and maximising profits?

I can't think of any other good examples off the top of my head, and obviously in the digital generation it's easier as downloads count / there is no stock limitation but, say... Biffy Clyro's Many of Horror re-entered the chart off the back of the manufactured popularity of the prime time XFactor show sticking a guy with a cover of the same song (with a different name) on number 1:
