Looks an absolute waste of cash aimed at the gullible. You don’t even get the display panel for that £250!

edit: that linked-to YouTube channel pushed crypto in his latest offering, FWIW.

I agree, it's a plastic box with a generic panel and controller in it (that you have to pay extra for later on) that looks like an LCD from the early 2000s. The "pods" are stuff like a GBS8220 with GBS-Control screwed to some plastic that have to be wired up in some way yet to be demonstrated (the backplane included in photos is not included and is "in development").

Yeah you’re right, looking at it you’re ending up paying £500 for an actual useable thing, ffs. How are they raising so much on Kickstarter!? There has to be a better alternative?

My alternative is a Dell P1917S that I paid £30 for off ebay (and actually does 15khz over VGA unlike theirs), a GBS8200+GBS-Control and some velcro. Total cost around £100, or £200 if you buy a new rather than second hand monitor.

I've followed the development of this closely as there is no really good solution for a small LCD monitor for use with old computers and consoles, and it's about as close as you will get form factor wise short of getting someone to make 4:3 20" or smaller LCD panels again (if you read the comments on the video you will see the majority of people assume square-ish monitor = 4:3 so that may not matter much). It's just an awful lot of money for a load of off the shelf components bunged into a plastic shell and has many questions over the usability (what is the power on experience like? Will everything work via the OSD or will I need an army of remotes and mobile apps to use anything other than built in connectivity? etc).

I have a general feeling that a lot of people are going to be disappointed when 1. They get an invoice for £180 in April to pay for the panel and 2. They receive it and can't connect a SCART/s-video cable to it because they didn't spend an additional £100 on a module that accepts it. There is plenty of time between now and shipping dates however so we will see I suppose.

The fella behind it seemed alright when I met him at an amiga meeting in Swindon.

His products are defo not crap quality at least. They raised over £370k! Mental.

I can't comment on the performance but that's some seriously ugly design work.

Imagine having a carefully curated collection of some of the finest pieces of consumer electronics ever created and then hooking them up to that fugly shite.

Should have included a native 480p panel in there too for the AV nerds to geek out on. Imagine connecting up a prog scan dvd player to it, all your DVD collection instantly in high def again.
