We saw the first ep of season three over lunch today.  Gutted we can't binge it in one go - Happy Valley is bloody brilliant and riveting telly!  Soooo good.

This is excellent, while at times far fetched it tends to get the small things, and the dialogue, spot on. However what on earth was that game/console there were supposed to be using?😂

This is exactly why I came on here, to see if anyone would pick up on that. It looks like some 20 yr old shit that no self respecting teen would be contenting themselves with. Though, with BC being what it is these days, I suppose it's kinda plausible. Retrogaming!

This is so far beyond the quality of most Sunday evening detective drama it's ridiculous.

 

However I do think they overextended themselves slightly this final season. Too many things are happening, there is so much to wrap up in the last episode, even if it is an extended one by an extra 10mins. It needed another couple of episodes I reckon. So much dramatic stuff is happening at the same time that I can see why some people might feel it's getting a little ridiculous. Or maybe they could have cut the mid-level goons / missing money storyline out, that feels a bit underpowered and less important compared to what else is going on.

 

It's still incredible TV though.

Haha the console did stick out (why couldn’t they just use an xbox/ ps4/laptop?!) but I’m willing to let it slide because everything else about the show has been so, so good.

there is more to the guy looking after the safe house that Tommy has been put up in than meets the eye?  I wonder if Darius Knezevic is a puppet for him..

Lol it's sometimes annoying having an interest in gaming isn't it? Takes you right out of drama when something like that bizarre Quake 3 Arena console crops up.

 

It does feel like it's been a slightly slower series compared to the previous ones, with a fair bit to wrap up in the last episode. But it's really excelled at maintaining a constant gnawing, rising dread about everybody's storylines in every scene. I nearly shouted at Faisal's kids to shut up!

in contact I don’t know why they couldn’t have made that much more believable with just connecting via Facebook or similar. 
 

it’s so fucking stupid. I appreciate us heroes are more alert to these things but surely everyone involved also knew it was naff.

I think this mechanism/plot device was used in something else recently and had a similar effect on my viewing. Might have been Jack Ryan.

It’s like the fact that no one in TV or movies uses Google to search the internet. It always Finder Spyder or some other made up crap. It instantly flags that something is a fiction. Imagine if they did it with cars or something?
