I was talking with a colleague today and got to games I’d never played what’s your list of shame ?

1 half-life

2 any fallout game

GTA could probably be in there as although I have played them it’s only ever been for a short time usually the first time I drive across town to be told come back tomorrow or somesuch .

don’t really play any open world sandbox gta type stuff .

I admit I had a great time on red dead 1 basically stalking a couple of mates and sniping them endlessly but didn’t play the game proper at all

Except for Papers Please, my list of shame hasn't changed much since this one:

The big ones are still mostly Nintendo series: the whole Metroid Prime series; the whole Pokémon series; all 3D Marios since Mario 64; Phoenix Wright series; Punch Out series.

The only Zeldas I've played are A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.

The only Resident Evil I've played is the first hour or so of Resident Evil 4.

Only Final Fantasy I've played is a couple of hours of FFVII.

GTA V. Red Dead Redemption series.

The Last of Us.

Uncharted series.

Diablo series.

Command & Conquer series.

League of Legends and DOTA2.

PUBG and Fortnite.

Overwatch and Apex Legends.

World of Warcraft (or any MMO since Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online)

Only Call of Duty I've played is COD4.

Minecraft.

Hitman series (only played the first level of Hitman 2).

Sam and Max Hit the Road Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Loom, The Dig.

Thief series.

Star Wars KOTOR

Undertale

Yakuza series

The list I made in the old thread was more like a list of reputable games… but I didn’t necessarily care about all of them. However, I’m ashamed to have skipped some games that I would probably enjoy:

Tokyo Mirage Sessions - a lot of people tell me that this is close to Persona in style (I mean, it’s a crossover with SMT and Fire Emblem right?) and I’m totally down for something that leans in that direction but with its own world-building, but it didn’t come out on anything I own.

Bayonettas 2 and 3 - I enjoyed the first game, but when the eighth generation came around I was already kind of satisfied with the PS4, and I couldn’t justify picking up a WiiU just for this and TMS. Meanwhile, I don’t know if I should be ashamed of skipping 3 what with its mixed reception… :P

Breath of the Wild - if only due to its reputation as the best game ever. I’ve never finished a Zelda game, and I kind of lost interest after the first four 2D games, but you lot won’t stop banging on about it so there must be some kind of redeeming quality to it?

Pretty much every Resident Evil outside of the opening parts of the original Resident Evil 2 & 3. Just don't get on with horror that well.

Pretty much every Metal Gear Solid after the first one and the tanker in MGS2.

Majora's Mask. Morrowind. Pretty much all the Dark Souls games because of Demon's Souls not being finished. All the Metroid Prime games.

Loads of games that I started and never got around to actually playing a lot, let alone all of it. Super Metroid, Shenmue, Half Life 1&2, Demon's Souls, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Ocarina of Time, RDR1, The Last of Us, Persona 3 and SMT3.

I only played through Chrono Trigger last year (emulated on an RS97) and it was surprisingly enjoyable despite its age. There were one or two encounters near the latter half that required a bit more levelling but overall it wasn't too bad, and it doesn't feel like a massive undertaking because the whole thing's broken up into chapters in the save files and totally different locations/time periods in each chapter, so it's like several small adventures stitched together.

As for Persona 3 - a revisit could be perfectly timed with the multiformat release baby. Babybabybaby...

Never completed Demon's's's' Souls's

Here's me, the biggest Seksoulsborne fan on the planet, and I never finished Demon's Souls. Just played as far as that Phalanx boss.

I'll get the PS5 version eventually I guess.

It was the first one I played and I’ve never really warmed to it, despite finishing it. Most of the bosses are just bad, for me. Series got good with Dark Souls imo. The bones are there, though.

Pretty much all of them. I have a relatively limited range of games I play. But only relative to people on here.

The ones I always think I should play, but just have no interest in are the big Nintendo IPs. So Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros, F Zero, Animal Crossing et al. I feel like I'm not a "proper gamer" if I don't play them.

But then, life's too short to play games I find no joy in. There is a veritable smorgasbord of games I do love out there, so I don't feel like I'm missing out, really.

I don’t feel any shame for not having played a particular game or series - there are far too many games in existence so you have to just enjoy what you play and not stress about the other stuff.

However there are a few games I have bought to play and not got round to yet.

Gregory Horror Show

Resident Evil 4

Huntdown

Panzer Dragoon

The latter two will be taken care of very shortly. RE4 has now got me in paralysis because there are so many versions. I own the original GC but would it be better to play it on Wii with the pointer? Or wait for the remake? I just end up not playing it again.

For a first ever play I reckon original GC is the way to go. It suits the controller so well.

There are no games that I'm ashamed not to have played, but I regret not having yet played The House in Fata Morgana (despite generally enjoying visual novels and owning the sodding thing); Sky (despite loving all of ThatGameCompany's other games and it being free) or Panzer Dragoon Saga (despite loving every other Panzer Dragoon game, unplayed for reasons that should be comprehensible to those without endless money).
