What's your planned christmas game this year?

Gaming during the holidays is as much a tradition as stuffing my face with food, cake and alcohol.

Every year I try to find a game that suits my current mood and some years I end up re-playing a favourite from the past while other times I've got something new on the menu.

Initially I was planning to play GoW: Ragnarok this year but couldn't wait so I've already completed it. After a quick flick through my available library it seems as if I've ended up with either Eastward, Pentiment or The Witcher 3 remaster. The latter is a game I've already completed but that's 6 years ago so it might feel somewhat fresh. The other two are currently available on Game Pass and both seem like good contenders.

What are you guys playing this holiday season?

It might be Witcher 3 if shininess is good enough. I last played on PC with a lot of mods that already made the game visually better.  Sonic Frontiers may also get a look in if it's available for cheap in a sale.

I'm really hoping it's Pentiment - it's on my steam wishlist for secret santa, hint hint!

But those games aside, Destiny 2 is likely to be a major one. New season just started last week, and early signs are that it's a good one. :)

After I've Platinumed God of War: Ragnarok I'm going to try to tick off a few more games from this year before I put together my GOTY list, so Pentiment and Somerville both need playing. Thankfully, they're quite short. I might end up giving Neon White or OllyOllyWorld a go, too, as I missed them earlier this year. Once all those are out of the way, if there's time, I might dip into the backlog and get round to Frostpunk at long last, which seems fitting, given the weather.

Christmas day it'll be Nintendo all round, with Marios Kart and Party, as well as lots of other games to dip in and out of.

It was going to be Dragon Quest Treasures, but it's reviewing like "wait for a sale". Same with Star Ocean the only other game I was interested in this holiday.

Not sure now. I might have to <shudder> finish something I've already started instead!!!

I hope to have finished Pentiment by the time I finish work for Christmas so one of:

High on Life (REALLY hope this is good)

Witcher 3 shiny shiny (still never finished this despite having bought it the day it came out!)

Sea of Thieves (if I can find someone else to join me - not played any of the new season yet)

Quite fancy replaying Halo on the MCC. Probably only did it the one back in 2004.

Some bursts of Forza Horizon 4 which is is apt as it keeps f'ing crashing on PC.

Shenmue it is. Again.

Decent shout that, probably haven't played it in about 15 years.

Leading up to the big day I might log in for seasonal Destiny 2 stuff, if the servers are okay. I was tempted to pick something up in the PSN end of year sale, but I'm undecided.

Oh, and anything from the Steam Secret Santa, of course.

After these comments I had to go and check what this was. I was excited to maybe see something I'd not heard about.

Bit of searching.... Oh god. It's that talking gun thing! Did that not look like the worst thing ever in trailers? I hated every second of the original trailers. I'd not realised anyone was in to the idea of it at all.

Although I will say that having watched a more recent trailer on Steam with slightly less talking I wasn't quite so offended by it.

No slight, hope you all enjoy it.

Well its something different I guess... who knows what it'll be like... The title says "Xmas game" its the only thing thats getting released mildly of interest TBH just seems something a bit more fun than the norm. It maybe complete rubbish of course... :D So probably end up firing the Atari Celebration thing up again and playing some Tempest 2000 on and off... Ideally I'd like a new Mario game to play over Xmas as I love those... but well...

Right now that's a mix of Pentiment, Obra Din, Patrick's Parabox and Mario + Rabbits Sparks of Hope

Might do a third Obra Dinn play through this Christmas. It’s such a good, chilled out Christmas game.

Patrick’s Parabox is a great choice too, and will no doubt find its way into my playing time. Lovely game to dip in and out of, in between all of the food, presents, and James Bond movies.
