I need to see an explanation as I thought there was some 'Henry' law in place that any attacking hand in the build up automatically ruled out the goal.

Isn't the rule now that an accidental handball in the build-up is okay, so long as it isn't by the person that ultimately scores? I don't know any more, I haven't kept up to date with all the changes.

Can't remember which game it was, but Alan Shearer commentated on a Man United match recently and I remember thinking how surprisingly good he was. I was then equally surprised last night when there was no complaining about how terrible he was in this thread during the match.

Incidental contact (more on this below) is only an offense if it's done by the player who scores the goal. In other words, you can't score with your hands, you can't control the ball with your hand and then score, etc. but you can have incidental contact with your hand and assist a goal, start a counter-attack, etc.

So it’s only handball if it’s deliberate or the player who scores is the one who handled the ball.

I really like Alan Shearer.  When he first started doing media work he was very rusty but he's grown into the role well - he's one of the good ones.

When he started, he was clearly influenced by the "can't be arsed-ness" of Hansen, Lawrenson et al.  When they got shuffled out, he saw the writing on the wall and upped his game to be a much better pundit.  Yesterday was a surprise, as he had lapsed into his old ways.
