All those in the Press who were claiming this Moroccan team were the successors to Greece 2004 have shown themselves for the idiots they are.

They’re immensely likeable and work like absolute demons.

same folk say Southgate has to go.

France are like Chris Eubank, you know they’re better than their opponent but seem to come down to their level and eek out points wins

Arrogant?

What an unlikely thing to label the French with, shameful.

No not about arrogance, they seem a team with a very high top level potential but often seemed to get dragged down to the level of whoever they are playing, then turn it on briefly which is enough to secure a win.

Eubank used to take minutes out of rounds then put in a little burst and eek out wins like that.

There is a certain irony to Infantino's claims that this has been the best World Cup ever, and at the same time planning to change the whole thing for 2026.

Quote

Infantino said that would be looked at after the "success" of the four-team groups at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"Here the groups of four have been absolutely incredible," said Infantino.

"Until the last minute of the last match you would not know who goes through.

What a fucking idiot - he has decided 4 groups are actually good because this time round, less teams won the first two games.

I’m sure they’ll be just as good if he keeps them for 2026 when 1st, 2nd and 8 of the 12 3rd place teams can go through so we can all enjoy a confusing mess in the final few groups trying to figure out who might go through and a likely lack of any sort of jeopardy for the big teams.

Every world cup is declared the best one ever at this point, it's tradition.

Big land grab today too from FIFA with them announcing an expanded 32 team world club championship for a couple of years time, they're really not happy at UEFA bagging all that sweet sweet champions league money so trying desperately to muscle in on that territory.

Dunno when all these games get played though.

Wasn't the original plan for it to be in the summer which I'm sure the players will be happy about as a load more club games that are glorified friendlies in the summer is just what they'll want.

I like the romantic notion of an expanded Club World Cup, but the reality is it's just going to be a clusterfuck of capitalism and cronyism.

Yeah same a proper Club World Cup would actually be really fun, I’d love to see competitive games between South American and European clubs. But yes I can’t see it actually being fun and I don’t really know if it’s possible to cram more games in.
