The rarest PS Vita "game" (I think)

I am the proud owner of what (I think) is the rarest, or at least one of the rarest PS Vita releases.

It was given away as part of a promotion/competition in Germany. It doest even contain a cartridge, there is a download code inside, and the code itself expired years ago.

I dont think anybody knows how many there are, and I have seen them come up a handful of times on eBay over the years.

I am considering selling it. Does anyone have any idea of what it might be worth? I had an offer of £500 a few years back, which I decided not to take in the end. Also, any ideas where a good place to try and sell it would be? Ideally not on eBay, if I can avoid it.

The fact there are so few in existence, and back then, it was fairly unusual to have a download code like this in a proper Vita box and stuff. I think the game is meant to be quite good (its the PSP game actually) but I have no idea as I havent actually played it!

Yeah there doesn't seem to be any information about it, do you regret not taking the offer or do you think it's worth more now?

There's got to be some nutter who reeeeeeally needs that box on his shelf and he's prepared to pay top dollar for it, can't bear the idea someone else has it and he doesn't. That's the collector mentality.

Thats why I bought it 😔

Too bad Retro Collect isn't a thing anymore as that was a place with a lot of knowlegable full-set collector types.

Personally never been into the whole complete set thing but I've always been impressed when people manage to do it for a system and have all the obscure variants and weird stuff like this Resistance game. I seem to remember some full-set PS2 collectors on RC that had to buy a Singstar game in every available Euro language as the covers and song lists were different. Same for that football game that had all the different covers for different Premier League teams with certain team variants being much rarer.

I tried to do the whole PAL SNES & Dreamcast in a different life, i do sympathise with whoever ends up with this code in a box. If i was collecting full set pal vita i would definitely need this

£500 seems like an incredible price though. What was the last public sale?

  • 1 month later...

In case anyone is interested in the progress, this hasnt sold and I have had to drop the price quite a few times. Ive had plenty of offers above £300 though.

Perhaps more interesting is that one of my games, the asia english version of Asterisk War sold for £700! Which I completely was not expecting.

Here is an interesting article listing what they think are (or were, at that point in time) the rarest vita titles, with AW at number 1-

Crazy to see how expensive Vita games are getting. I've got a new-complete set of Limited Run Vita games which are still sealed (missing about 16 games I think) and I did have Rose In The Twilight but sold it for a couple of hundred quid a few months back (I used the case to get Indiana Jones And The Infernal Machine on N64).

I can't believe the hype that game gets.

1. It's in no way 'rare', it's uncommon at best and certainly more common than Ar NoSurge, History: Legends of War & Rose in the Twilight. I could definitely buy a copy today if I was so inclined.

2. It's absolutely f*****g PISS POOR.

3. It usually comes up on various facebook Vita groups where a lot of members are based in the Phillipines or Malaysia.

3. Did I mention how bad it is?
