The RNG gods blessed me with Darkhawk a few days ago, and well, it’s pretty good.

 

This poor sod got 12 rocks to his deck to feed my Hawk and Mystique:

Just got granted a galactus card. (6 cost, 2 power, if it’s your only card in a location it destroys the other two locations).

 

I lost the game but it was worth it to see the effect!

I love the fuckwits who start emoting like crazy when you retreat for a 1 cube loss, because you realise you don’t have the right cards in hand to counter the incredibly obvious combo they’re building towards, like they think they’re Gary Kasparov or something.

Yeah that happened to me the other day - Wong > Mystique > Gambit > Hazmat

 

Lost 4 cards then the remaining ones had -4 power.

Can anyone recommend any decent Snap YouTubers? It’s a sea of clickbait nonsense out there. I’ve found that too many of them assume you already have every single series 4 and 5 card in the game or high-roll decks that are entirely reliant on almost perfect draw to pull off a busted combo or you might as well retreat on turn 3.

 

I've seen people recommend Snapster, but look at this shit.

Jeff Hoogland is another that gets recommended a lot, but I find his personality like nails on a chalkboard.

 

I quite liked TLSG but unfortunately he tends to do a lot of 'Well if you happen to have Darkhawk, Galactus, Thanos and Sentry, this is a good' type decks.

I'm really enjoying using Mr Negative. It's very luck based, but fun and completely devastating when your luck comes up. Especially with lockjaw in the mix to really annoy the other player.

 

 

As for the patch, that's a big change to Leader.

 

Leader: [6/7] On Reveal: Copy all cards your opponent played to the location to the right, but on your side.

Dev Note: Leader is a prominent “finisher” in the current Snap meta, and we’re not happy with some of the card choices and play patterns he encourages, especially his strength against other cool 6-cost cards. We’re changing Leader to only copy cards played at the location to his right, with more base Power to compensate. We hope that this change will reward clever predictions and reduce the frustration of playing against him.

Leader isn't so much a problem card in itself, it's that he can be almost a Get Out of Jail Free card if you have had something devilish planned on turn 6. Far from an auto-win, but he definitely feels like it when you get busted by him after outplaying your opponent for the previous 5 turns. As far as I'm concerned, using Leader should just automatically change the avatar or something, so we know who all the wankers lazy buggers are. I still take great pleasure in beating anyone who uses him, and the hatred has gotten so that if I end up with their Leader then I will absolutely use it against them. (I'm still refusing to use it if I get it randomly, though. I so have SOME values...)

 

Really lookng forward to friend battles. Hopefully they add an option to swap decks between rounds in a future update, but I can see how that might interfere with the core loop of getting people to play ever higher levels and thus be tempted to drop coin in the hopes of getting ever better cards.

Unfortunately all youtubers do the clickbait titles. I blame society for that being an effective marketing tool.

 

My favourite Snap tubers are KM Best and Specimen.

 

KM Best is easily the best player out there and only posts one or two videos a week, but they are always really informative. He posted his tier list recently and I think it's the best one I've seen so far just because of his explanations of why he's ranking things and how they fit in to the meta rather than what is just good.

 

 

 

Specimen is a British youtuber, so no annoying grating accents, and he is my go to for obscure decks. You might know him if you ever played Gwent. He likes to brew his own stuff, and he always goes infinite at the start of the season with some weird off-meta deck he has made. I've been using the shell of his Zabu big boys deck this season and it's got me to rank 83 this season which is my highest ever. Highly recommend watching his videos.

It's got to the point where I have to stop using my dumbass decks and start using archetypes as well as paying attention to what decks people might be playing. And I can't be arsed. I have Venom pinned so I might grind out the tokens for that first.

They need to calm down with the crazy featured locations. It's just annoying to play the game when most games have that 'only 6 cost cards can be played' location.

Totally. This screenshot I saw on Reddit just sums it up (and they've added more nonsense since then).

 

The locations add a very fun wrinkle to the game but they are in danger of overdoing it.

I just bought Shuri from the collectors shop. This is the first ever game I have played with her, and I'm here to show you how it went not so I can talk about Shuri, who made this game winnable, but so I can once again talk about how much I fucking love Magneto.

 

Seriously guys. He is so much fun. The outplay potential is just immense. I played 3 cards this game, and beat a mirror match up. Sakaar pulled my Arnim and I would have retreated if I had been snapped at basically any point. But I didn't get snapped. My opponent played 17 more power total than me this game, but it didn't matter, because Ian McKellen was there to fuck him up.

Yeah, they really need a bucket system for the locations so that you can't get more than one 'No cards/destroy all cards played here' locations in a single game. They are fine in one lane, but having two in any game just makes it zero fun for both players.

This reminded me of a game I had not long ago though I mistook the location, as it wasn’t Sakaar, because thinking about it I didn’t have Doc Ock, which is what it pulled into the location on my side, who pulled 3 cards from his hand….and the last revealed was carnage, which just completely ruined his game as none of the others he ate were ones you’d want to destroy.

 

Anyway, I don’t think variants get talked about that much even though it’s touted as a big feature of the game, though I wonder if that’s because they’re not something I think most people get that often.  I’ve got about 3k gold at the moment, and it’s not often I get offered ones I’m tempted to get, but mentioning carnage above, I’ve got this in there now which I’m sorely tempted to get - if it was  700g I think I would have but it’s 1200…

 

So I was wondering what other people’s favourite variants are?  This Ultron was in my shop a bit  ago and I reeeerally regret not getting it now - hesitated as it was also 1200g…

 

this one probably wins the award for “best art compared to how bad the card is”

 

I like pretty much all the Max Grecke ones, hard pick a fave from them, but this is deffo one of the ones I’d like most, as it’s also for a good card

There are some lovely Jessica Jones ones but I don't use her enough to justify the gold.

I really need to ban myself from looking at the shop, any good intentions to save gold for a bundle evaporate when I catch sight of a good looking variant.

I love Polaris and her effect, especially for pulling cards away from my Lizard or Mojoworld, but not a big fan of the base art, really like this one though.

 

One of my favourite animations on this Sif, birds and sigil look really cool.

I don’t really want to upgrade past legendary, the border fits perfectly.

Arnim gets a lot better when you start getting other cards that work with him. This guy retreated before he went off 👀

Wong is in onslaught citadel, so his effect is doubled. That means when I play Shuri it procs 4 times on the next card, so Red Skull goes 15 > 30 > 60 > 120 > 240.

There's an incredible looking Invisible Woman variant that makes really good use of the '3D' effect. Not enough cards take advantage of the alpha channel on the foreground elements. It's this one I think...

I had the opposite today. Someone Doc Oc'd my Shang Chi into play, along with Killmonger. They ended up wiping out half their cards, including Doc Oc. 

 

I "completed" the season pass today as well. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, but buying the next one is really going to mess up my whole "read more books" resolution.
