I didn’t realise scuf were so expensive. It can’t be good for them now the official alternative has more features and will have PS5 dashboard config.

What features does it have the Scuff doesn’t?

I’ve just never felt the need for like 4 more buttons buttons or whatever on top of the 14 or so that are already on any given modern controller.

What are you all, that cunt out of Ghost in the Shell?

For FPS games it means you dont have to take your hands off the sticks for the 4 buttons - I used to have an Elite controller and for Titanfall 2 it was immense, it would be equally beneficial for Fortnite et al taking away an advantage keyboard noobs have ;)

The main use-case for paddles for me on Xbox has just been to stick with two and use them for replacements for left and right stick clicks which are the work of the devil.

Occasionally I modify beyond that but not terribly often. I remember doing it for Elden Ring, putting sprint on a paddle so I could sprint while still controlling the camera.

This. This is all I want so I'm not clicking in a stick to sprint or, specific case, use the Focus on Horizon.

They’re not quite more buttons, well they are but they’re there to duplicate face buttons. In an FPS you’ll need to take your thumb off the right (aim) stick to press jump or reload (you could map these to bumpers but you’ll end up having to put whatever the bumper function is on a face button instead).

Now you can aim and jump/reload at the same time saving you valuable milliseconds in online competitive games.

They're REALLY useful on the deck for games which don't have gamepad support. For example I was playing a city builder with a configuration where they acted as shift keys for the other buttons. They're not exactly paddles on that though, just extra buttons.

Doesn't apply to console games obviously.

I got the Xbox elite 2 controller a while back while drunkenly buying stuff on Amazon. It’s pretty nice to hold if a bit too heavy and the battery lasts ages. I’ve never figured out how to map the paddles, though I really haven’t put any effort into that.

The longer snap-on sticks and adjustable analogue triggers as far as I can see are utterly pointless. I haven’t yet found a reason to use them.

£210 for this thing is a brilliant piss take by Sony. Bravo.

PS5 is a fucking rip off across the board. £200 for the cheapest arcade stick, £210 for this fuckin thing, £45 for two lumps of plastic side plates, £70 games, £85 online service, what planet are they on. Can't wait for the PSVR2 pricing, probably have to sign up for some medical trial to afford that one . And that Playstation stars thing..

- Swappable thumbstick modules (stick a brand new thumbstick on when the first one ends up drifting rather than replacing the whole thing)

- Set up individual profiles on your PS5 with an interface (like the elite controller) rather than doing it on the controller with flashing buttons. I think that’s clearer.

- Tunable deadzones/sensitivity (granted, most FPS games have an option for this but still), at controller level.

- Adjustable trigger stops (afaik you have two separate sku’s on the scuff, one with normal triggers and another model with instant triggers). The Edge effectively has both and a mid range option with the trigger stops.

- Audio balance control on the controller with a dedicated button.

- A cable lock to secure the USB cable in place on the controller end. Probably needless in practice as the other end is regular USB with no lock and could just get pulled out of your PS5 instead.

I think that’s all!

Yeah, despite there being quite a few games I'd like to try in the near future, pricing means I'll be stuck on the PS4 for some time still.

£210 for a controller is ridiculous. You almost have a new Switch for that money.
