Even if you don't particularly like the Sonic films there are many much worse videogame movies than those. In fact it's almost all of them.

I thought they were ok, but then I have no real affinity with Sonic. Mario on the other hand; this has the potential to be just brilliant. I hope Waluigi makes an appearance.

Today is the day gamers. The last four years have been truly difficult, with little to no information but here we are merely hours away from our first true glimpse of the Super Mario movie. Will Nintendo break our hearts again, if so will it be on purpose to appeal to those undeserving of a Mario movie or will it be by accident where they simply got the wrong people involved in this epic project?

 

Could this actually be a shock in a good way? Finally, they understand us and know what we gamers want in a sincere movie about our closest imaginary friend in times of need? Will Mario finally be cool in the mainstream? and if so is that something we are willing to sacrifice as a community? 

 

The day is upon us my friends. It has all led to this very moment,  I truly believe this time the stars will align with us. See you on the other side. Good luck all.

Despite opening this thread more than once and actively commenting it, the title still gets my hopes up that another proper Nintendo Direct has been announced. 
 

This is not a Nintendo Direct, it’s a film trailer and, if we’re very unlucky, we’ll have to watch Miyamoto pretending to like Chris Pratt for several minutes beforehand.

I’d love for them to make it a gritty take on the Mario universe. It opens on the beautifully colourful scene that was posted earlier.

 

Then…

 

A huge bomb planned by Bowser destroys it all. Most of Mario’s friends are dead. Others have mutated and are feasting on the flesh of the corpses.

 

Mario was in a pipe so was safe. Yoshi was badly mutated and he begs Mario to end his misery. Mario tearfully jumps on Yoshi to kill him.

 

Mario must get out of the kingdom to find sanctuary. Can he get out before a mutated Wario eats his heart? Find out only in cinemas.
