makkuwata
Just now, JohnC said: Feige must have got the big chequebook out for Hugh. It probably works out cheaper to give him an official MCU send off for the character than to buy out all the other actors contracts ahead of 2025. Gabe
Jackman had always said he'd like to play the character again even after Logan, didn't he? Even so, to convince him to go through the training regime probably added a fair chunk of cash. I guess two years away is to fit in with the X-Men joining the party - as in, they wouldn't want Jackman in 6 months, say, if the rest of the X-Men are at least 3 years away? Loik V credern
I didn't realise Deadpool 3 was in limbo... Deadpool 1 or 2 as to which is better seems a good question for people, the first has the freshness and surprise and with that the funnier moments but I really dislike the cheap direction and shoddy villain, but maybe that makes it raw. Thought 2, while glossier, had far better directing, action and villain, that opening is like something from Blade 2.
Popular Post Thor
Deadpool 1 is easily better than 2 ... IMO.

Funnily enough, I am the other way around. I agree that it is the better made film, but by the end, the sequel had turned into the thing that it was trying to take piss out of. Nick R
I preferred the second one, if only because of the parachute scene and the Juggernaut theme song.

The Spoiler multiple deaths scene had me almost laughing uncontrollably though.
Gabe
As much as I like Reynolds, I've never felt the need to rewatch either of the films. I think the constant wise-cracking gets tiring and so puts me off wanting to see them again. It's one of the reasons I also hate GotG2 (another film I've never rewatched.) I also felt the second film felt a bit more sanitised, as weird as that sounds, possibly due to the bigger budget and increased expectations, so I wonder whether the pressure of now being in the MCU *and* having Jackman appear are going to dilute things a bit further?
BitterToad
Yeah I think if I've learned anything after 14 years of super hero films being the biggest thing in the world it's that the funny ones tend to be one and dones in terms of my enjoyment. Sequels tend to either repeat what's been done before or lean in too hard on the jokes because "that's what people liked" and lose the heart of the thing. Thor: Love and Thunder is the biggest, worst example of this but Deadpool 2 was a bit of a stinker too in my book.

Jammy
This is an exciting turn of events. I’m pleased and surprised in equal measure that Jackman has agreed to do this. I get that he will help sell the film, and introducing a new actor to play the character in this movie probably negates that, but I’m confused as to where this puts the MCU X-Men, in terms of timeline, lineup and casting. DarhkFox
Look forward to this but i do kinda agree with a few of the folks here, I found both movies kinda grating after a couple of watches. I like Ryan Renolds, but i find it hard to rewatch most of his movies because they pretty much are the same character and I get bored of the constant wise cracks. Getting Jackman back is a smart idea.
Thor
See, for me Deadpool 1 is still very re-watchable, whereas D2 I do find tiresome - it tries too hard.

gone fishin
Poor Dougray Scott must be fucking fuming. If only the filming of Mission Impossible 2 hadn’t overrun, it could have been him who had milked the Wolverine character for the past 20+ fucking years. Disney are still tied to the young casts’ Fox contracts after they were swallowed up, which are set to expire in 2025. Presumably they’re happy to tease the idea of mutants until then before introducing their new lineup of actors. The old guys will be banished to some hand wave other place in the multiverse to be forgotten. Deadpool is Deadpool, so he’ll know all that.
K
Deadpool 2 was what I feared Deadpool 1 would be like - lame, edgy jokes and tired, zany fourth-wall breaking gags. I've found the first one to be extremely re-watchable - it's the classic 'switch over to ITV2 twenty minutes in, and end up watching the whole thing' film - but the second was pretty tedious. Although that said, the parachute / car chase action sequence in the second film was fantastic, and was like some of the energy and invention of the first film had leaked into the second.
Captain Kelsten
I've watched the first Deadpool 3 or 4 times now. I've watched Deadpool 2 once, don't remember much about it and don't really feel the need to change that so yeah, I get where you're coming from.
