I might have to rescind the condescending dismissiveness because I got up this morning and the first thing I did was boot this up. God fucking damn it.

Cause it's free. Save yourself £70 and just download Warzone as it is free - that is where they put all of their effort into now, not the game you actual pay for - they slowly fuck that into oblivion. The core MP at £70 just don't even come close to 2019's, and Cold War and Vanguard maps where better by a country mile.

I played Warzone solo - was in a lobby for about 2 minutes - then the game started - I was shot within 10 seconds of landing - placed in the Gulag - got killed by a boss bloke - back to menu to start again.

It's not really gaming to me either - it's a roguelike with a lot of loading and waiting around, meh

I'm still loving DMZ.

I had a phase where I was getting very annoyed with the randoms. but I've found that just asking enemy teams to help or join up has changed the game for me.

I've had two games in a row where my rando teammates have gone off in opposite directions and died, in the first one i see a lone guy driving by in a car and a shout "hey guy in the car , give me a lift to the exfil?" and he lets me hop on his car, when we get there he adds me to his group and off we go.

In another game we get to the exfil site despite no comms and it turns into a 4 team fight, I get punted off a cliff by an armoured jeep and my squad mates die and quit, I self revive in a bush and just ask the winners if we can be friends, "Sure they" say, I come out from cover fully expecting to be excecutred , but no they add me to the group and give me some loot and off we exfil.

I like the new exfil streak system as well. Im on a 4 streak atm and so have 4 perks to help out.

Ive nearly done the teir 2 missions for the 1st two catagories, but some of the teir 3 ones seem to be getting a bit complicated. Like find a locked room in a specififc hotel and find a specififc gun. Feels like it might be starting to need a proper team effort to complete some of them.

Yeah DMZ sounds like fun but I'm just inherently adverse to voice comes with people I don't know. I hate grouping with randoms. I don't know why.

Its a mix of good and bad obviously. A pleasant suprise when you get a good group though. But the proximity chat is great, people begging for their lives, asking to be friends, shouting intel to their team mates. Really fun. reminds me of the old days in DayZ a bit.

Use a headset and voice comms? Not since 2008 at COD4's peak - heard enough bile on it to ensure I never plug one in again - in fact I don't think I have any hardware that would work. I also mute any voice chat out of the speakers too, don't want to hear it.

Probably explains why I play FFA almost all of the time

Shipment is back! I think its good for unlocking stuff quickly but its so 'sweaty' half the people on there jump around with a shotgun and a shield on their back and play as though they win 10 grand if they are top of the scoreboard

Jumping, firing and landing without any animation penalty is just bollocks - but it's COD - just like quick scoping and silent footsteps

The main issue with Shipment is the dumb spawns because it is so small. Most of the maps in this though are pretty awful both graphically and design wise - just not really that fun to play. It'll be interesting over the next 10 months or so before it's dumped for the next version if they can salvage anything out of the core MP game here.

Well, shipment just came up for the first time ever for me in any CoD. It's one of the dumbest, most insanely unbalanced things I've ever seen in a videogame.

I FUCKING LOVED IT.

I’ve had a few games where people have actually played tactically rather than just spamming Semtex or rushing in with shotguns which made a nice change.

Heretics!

Edit: Love the map, but team mates who don't get out of the shipping container they spawn in and block you in can get fired into the sun.

I've levelled every remaining weapon on this now, except a couple of snipers, a pistol, one SMG and the TAQ-M marksman. I've just started on the TAQ-M and fuck me, it's so bad. Really slow firing, hitmarkers galore. There's not one good thing about it. Now the double weapon XP event has finished I can hoover up the challenges and start working on some gold and platinum camos. I've got 3 AR's and a couple of SMG's gold already. Is anyone else camo grinding?

that’s just not true, warzone is handled by a different dev team to the core multiplayer team, and entirely different studio.

There is a huge amount of shared assets going on - so it's on a different level potentially that what you might be led to believe - like that phrase "built entirely from the ground up", it's in how it's interrupted

Yeah of course there's shared assets, they all work for the same publisher on the same game series, with shared progression why make all new assets? that doesnt mean it's not 2 entirely different studios working on the games.

You clearly just don't like the game, why play it?

Bought it on digital, can't trade it in - was living off the past IW glories from 2019 - no idea what happened here - it should have been a sure thing

Yep, this is the only CoD to get my attention online. It is ridiculous nonsense of course, and anyone who jumps around a corner, sticks a riot shield on their back or uses a knife at all should be sailed off to sea in a great big boat that unfortunately sinks, tragically killing everyone onboard, but it's a fun old mess.

Campaign was excellent too. Not quite up there with Infinite Warfare's, but the multiplayer is a million times better. I tried that coming off the high of the campaign and it was bloody awful. They have no idea what made Titanfall's movement and gunplay in motion so good.

Certainly jumping and firing is a tactic now more than ever - I still think that because of this it should incur some sort of animation penalty when you start and end the jump.

What are your opinions on the maps on offer here? I think the best ones were also available in the beta, the others don't impress either by design or looks

Big fan of Shipment. It's insane, and anyone trying to play the game properly will get an aneurysm in about ten seconds, but it's a cathartic bloodbath.

Taraq's a bit crap, I think. Not terrible, but too open. Also not super keen on the power plant level, Zypherfbshjhfbd or whatever it's called. Too many sneaky places for campers to set up shop.

Farm, Shoothouse, that Las Almas Mexican style one and Breenburgh are pretty good. There's another one that's like an outpost with a bar and some outbuildings that's pretty average, but I can't remember the name of it.

I'm honestly not sure what constitutes a good CoD map though since I've so little experience with them. None of them are insanely pretty (I saw a construction yard in a 2019 video that aesthetically looked more pleasing to me than most of the maps here), but most of them do a decent job of funneling players towards one another.
