MP lobby menus are really really bad now - worse than at launch. Stuttering, freezing, missing graphics, intermission waits of a minute (for what?) - and also terrible map rotation - again - which was working OK before. I don't think I've played Farm map for 2 days.

Still a fair bit of benny hill going on - they need to slow the game down at least 20% and put in proper lobbies with better match making. I really don’t want to play with someone 30 levels higher than me, running around with a shield and knife or a quick scoping sniper, getting 50+ kills. Put them in the same game and let the rest of us get on with it!

Yeah I think it’s got glitchier too. I’ve not seen Farm either for a few days, yet it’s always trying to put me in Taraq, which is an instant back out. It’s the worst COD map I’ve played in years.

The campaign was a collection badly thought out vignettes with zero rhythm and the multiplayer maps are some of the very worst I've experienced in my long COD history.

I can't bring myself to bother with the MP any more, the spawning just seems so random that it feels impossible to control the map (except the border control one, but that's a terrible map anyway...). 

 

I'll give Warzone a go, but if it doesn't grab me then I think I'll stick to Halo and Apex Legends for my FPS/BR fun.

It's early doors yet in the MP stakes - but I tend to think that there isn't enough change year on year to be that optimistic about it longer term. Did they slow it down? No. Did they sort out the shit bunny hopping and firing? No. Did they sort out the quickscoping? No. Are they ever going to break from the formula? No.

 

Not one single map so far is anywhere near as good as the worst ones in MW2018 - it's a massive gulf in quality between the two games.

To echo others, I’m bored of the traditional multiplayer already. I used to get enjoyment out of often being the best of a bad bunch on the older CODs, but the dynamic matchmaking means that having a great game means you’ll be put against great players, and everything seems tuned to get as many people as possible close to an overall 1.0 k/d, which ultimately feels depressing and pointless. 

 

The Battlefield modes do seem pretty great, but I don’t really have anyone to play with so couldn’t get into them.

 

Overall I’m not feeling it and there’s a good chance I’ll install the remastered original Modern Warfare instead for my occasional fix. I never got my head around unlocking the new weapons it introduced, so that might be fun. Or maybe I’ll just sack it all off and play through Titanfall 2 for the tenth time, because I know I will always enjoy it without fail.

I'm having a ball. It's absolute nonsense, mind. The trick is not to take any of it seriously, and swear copiously (assuming you're off-mic, you toxic asshat) at literally everything that happens.

 

I'm also proud of myself, forcing one of those horrible riot shield scumbags to switch his loadout mid-match. They're not so keen when you chuck thermite at them, and their massive hitbox means it sticks every time.

 

I've traditionally hated every CoD online. I played and loved Infinite Warfare's campaign recently, and still had a massive allergic reaction to the online in that. But for some reason, super digging this, and the third person mode's pretty cool too - a little fiddly, but I like TPS as a genre, so it's cool to swap back and forth.

 

I don't know what makes a good CoD map, but these are like swiss cheese with all the possible angles. Quite a few are pretty dull too - not a fan of the power station one, Zarqua or whatever. I do like Las Almas and Breenbergh Hotel. Bright and shiny is good. Embassy has a few annoying killzones, but I generally think it's decent.

Ha, that's a thought. I'm always hesitant to squad up on these things as I'm excitable and rage like a dumbass. I do at least keep it off mic in lobbies though, don't want to pollute other people's experience with it.

 

Pretty chill on Halo and Apex, but maybe because multiplayer CoD's new to me there's a ton of 'what in the name of...' moments that come out of nowhere.

It's worse since the new update, they have broken it. All the devs will be on the free game Warzone now, this is heading a similar downward trajectory to Vanguard last year, updated just before Christmas, they couldn't really get it working satisfactorily afterwards (coming from someone that still played it up until October of this year)

I like the new shoot house, it feels smaller somehow than the original but I'm sure it's exactly the same.

 

I really wish they'd sort out the crashing though, it's ridiculous. I'm on the latest drivers and sometimes it's every other game. It's rare I get more than 3 or 4 matches without a crash.
