What is this gibberish?

Mario Kart, especially 8 is the most boring single player game. The rubber banding and unfair distribution of weapons, generic tracks, same old characters.  Multiplayer is also ruined for the same reasons.  Are you good at Mario Kart? Well every other player will have blue shells now you're in first place so you're probably going to get shot by an unavoidable weapon any minute and end up in last place.

Sega All Stars Racing Transformed on Series X runs at 60fps and has amazing deforming tracks and great gameplay, stunts, boosts, action, great music, blue skies, and is so superior to Mario Kart in every way.

Here’s one: I know that Sonic Mania is objectively the “better” game, but I still feel like Sonic Rush is a personal favourite of mine and my go-to for updated Sonic fun. Mania did absolutely everything right - the physics, the pixels, the homages, the slight variants and remixes - they’re all fantastic. However, even though it didn’t have many hold-right-to-win autopilot stages, I thought that it went a bit far with the stage gimmicks and labyrinthine layouts. I think that there may have even been one instance where I had to watch a YouTube video because of some mechanic or another that got introduced in a stage and I didn’t “get” at all. And there were some stages where I was running the clock for a while just trying to get through it. Rush has a lot of daft mechanics and systems too, but the levels have enough of a classic vibe without being too convoluted or too streamlined, and if I were to list my favourites in the franchise, I might place it above Mania - even though it’s the “inferior” game.

one thing i will say is that while i always enjoy playing sonic mania, i don't really enjoy time attack at all. one thing that sonic jam showed was that the originals weren't just good platformers but really lent itself to speed running individual levels.

except metropolis zone, fuck that zone.

I think everyone said frequency was best.

But amplitude was way better. Looked nicer. Better music. And it made sense being able to hammer left or right to go to one end or the other, I would overshoot more with an infinite circle more than I'd save time by being able to go either direction.

I massively prefer Transformed as a single player game and bought it on 3 platforms (vs only 2 for MK8..) but as a multiplayer game it has none of the accessibility of Mario Kart 8 and their gameplay mechanics aren’t similar at all, so I don’t think the simple comparison of the two as “kart games” really holds up as well as it might if you were comparing Mario kart and something like crash team racing or that pac man kart game on GameCube (which I quite like too).

The beauty of MK8 is that you can enjoy it with anyone, kids, non gamers etc etc. That doesn’t apply to Transformed at all.  Transformed has a much higher learning curve and less of the randomness that the MK designers obviously put in deliberately.

Very true.  We had a great time with my nieces racing on Crusin Blast for the switch and they had great fun.  But the rubber banding makes the whole game entirely pointless as everyone completes the course with a second of each other every time. I find Mario Kart multiplayer the same - your playing and someone will be a winner but it's all reduced to luck as the worst player gets the best power ups and the lead player vehicle slows down. Brilliant fun for an evening of multiplayer but boring otherwise.

This is massively incorrect. There is little luck involved. Ever wonder why that person on 70,000+ rating wins every single race?

Thing everyone knows is best: Xbox controller

Thing that's actually the best: PlayStation Dualsense

Xbox controllers are creaky and the seam where the front and back ‘shells’ meet is a bit sharp

Dualsense is a bit bigger and comfier and the triggers are lush

Which is the best Dark Souls?

According to the forum's "top 100 games of all time" poll that concluded in August, Dark Souls 1 is the best game in the Dark Souls series and placed 7th overall.

Meanwhile, Bloodborne was 5th, whilst Elden Ring claimed 3rd.

Thinks is best: Parappa the Rapper

IS best: Um Jammer Lammy

This obviously goes without saying, not only did Lammy improve and expand on the concept by allowing you to add effect pedals to change your sound, but after you finish it the entire game can be played again with Parappa as the lead character with every song done as a new rap version. Parappa is great but Lammy blows it out of the water.

So why did the original Parappa game get all the attention with PSP versions and HD remasters but Lammy is left neglected and forgotten? The video compression on the original game is horrible because they crammed so much onto the disc - the official copy of the game looks like a bootleg rip. It deserves a proper HD remaster for sure.
