Outside of a port Retro Studios hasn't released a game since 2014. 2014!

Yeah. I wonder what they were working on before being re-drafted to take over Prime 4 development, whatever it was must have been quite far along.

Retro were working on a few things - their own IP (which got scrapped) and a new Zelda game (that got scrapped).

As much as I would love Starfox GP to be a thing, it was apparently an elaborate set up to catch internal leakers of the company.

I don’t think they’ll ever be another Star Fox or F-Zero (or Pilotwings) game. Cameos and references in other Nintendo series, but full games? Unfortunately not.

I've heard Nintendo are actually combining these into one game moving from space, land, race and adventure - takes inspiration from Atari's Major Havoc. Been in develop hell for 19 years.:(

I think that was back in the days of the Wii, unless they had another attempt?

Ah, yes you are correct that was back pre-wii days.

I'd like to think retro has been working on something new then since 2014 but Nintendo doesn't want us to know what it is yet.

I think we will most likely see Metroid Remaster this year, but the Twilight Princesss / Wind Waker might be pushed back to Switch 2?

Shame since we would pretty much have the entire Zelda collection on the switch if they did release it.

Chances of a new Mario? I just find it hard to believe a brand new 3D Mario will arrive on this switch this year. Same with donkey kong. Makes sense to keep stuff of that calibar for the next machine, although with 100m+ switch owners out there it might make sense to release on the current system.

I do wonder if a 2D mario might turn up though, although again makes sense around the movies release and Zelda is only a month later anyway.

Eh? Has this been confirmed?

I would be surprised if we didn’t get some sort of Mario game this year, even if it turns out to be a crappy sports title or a remaster (Galaxy 2 would be nice).  There can’t be many years since the NES when Nintendo hasn’t put out a single Mario game.

Anyway, have those Zeldas you mentioned be confirmed?

Andy Robinson @ VGC claims their existance (and that they were completed back in 2020) but for whatever reason they have never been released.

If there is to be a Febuary Direct this year, then by previous patterns it will be announced at 2pm UK time today.

This seems a good way to end up disappointed in roughly seven minutes.

Nintendo probably have them all ready to go along with Prime trilogy, then just sit back laughing their heads off by not releasing them.

Wouldn't be the first time they have done this. Multiple games were completed upto a year beforehand (take for example the latest Fire Emblem game - it was finished in 2021). It's all about spacing games out.
