I think I found one of those moments you mentioned and it completely made me jump when it happened.

Spoiler

I wasn’t ready for that. It freaked me out a bit.

Now I can’t play it because my wife is using a loud food blender. Blending up cheese and stuff.

Well got the end credits - pretty much just randomly clicked on stuff for the entire time and yeah.
It’s “alright” but there’s no game there. At no point did it make me feel smart for making a connection and the story is proper art student wank.

I haven’t played a Sam Barlow game before so I don’t know what they are like normally but I can honestly say that I have never played anything like this before, so it’s pretty unique.

I must admit that it feels super creepy slowly rewinding and forwarding the footage, lingering over faces and images.

And yeah it did remind me of porn sites and how voyeuristic the whole thing is, but that seems quite deliberate too. It’s erotic but it asks you to examine your own feelings about this and as such it’s wholly uncomfortable imo.

This is incomprehensible to me, literally no idea what I am meant to be doing.  The thing is with GamePass, its all to easy to switch it off and go to the next game, usually something more accessible, never to be returned to.  Its a shame as I was looking forward to this, but it looks to be something that is going to demand a lot of effort to understand and I cant seem to muster that these days for gaming.

Literally no idea what I'm doing other than watching random movie clips.  If this is a 10 out of 10 in Edge, that puts it alongside Mario 64, Gran Turismo and Halo. Zelda. But it also puts it alongside Bayonetta....

But what is this really? Is it a game? Where is the interaction? Am I supposed to be solving some mystery by watching these clips? How do you solve the mystery other than watching clips until it ends?  I mean, they never said "Solve the Mystery of Predator 2 by watching it to the end" did they?

Dogshit.

It’s interactive entertainment. It’s also more ‘gamey’ than you might at first realise. It gives you feedback in various ways that might encourage you to manipulate the footage in some way, that then might transport you to another world, even a secret one.

I have not completed it or even played it for more than a couple of hours, but the first game it actually reminded me of was Mario 64. Not literally but in the way that it feels as though you are doing something completely new. It also reminds me a bit of Braid.

I tell you what though, this is NOT one to be playing on a big screen with other people around, and definitely not in public - you’d have to switch quickly over to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, just to be a bit less pervy

A lot of dissenting voices in here but I’ve played an hour and am absolutely loving it. It’s totally intriguing and connecting up different films and moments through different images is super interesting. I’ll have more to say the more I go through it but all of the “it’s not even a game” lads are way off the mark I reckon.
